“Thank you, Lieutenant Hawthorne. Lieutenant Sapeth let’s make sure that scan doesn’t feel too aggressive to them. Keep it as passive as you can with the extra power. And if we get any kind of reaction from them stop the scan immediately. We still want to keep this as cordial as possible for as long as possible,” Finn ordered as he watched the image on the viewscreen. After another moment of consideration he said, “Let’s do a database search and see what we can find about any ships named Recondia.”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“Hopefully they aren’t gunning for us straight out of the gate,” Freja remarked, nodding as her XO issued the orders.

Sapeth dipped his head slightly. “Commander, I would be amiss if I didn’t point out that a single active sensor pulse would allow us to get a much more detailed view of the Recondia.”

Lt Sapeth - Chief Engineer

Finn nodded, “I hear you lieutenant, but we are walking a fine line here. Right now we seem to be a tolerated and likely expected arrival.”

He turned to the captain, “What do you think ma’am? Worth a one time ping to see who we are dealing with?”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“Let’s hold off on that for now,” Freja ordered, “They are likely on edge and I really don’t want to start this mission with a fire fight if I can avoid it, we have to assume they are watching us and they have uniformed members of Starfleet in their ranks so it’s not like we can pretend our fingers slipped and we didn’t mean to ping it.”

Nathan kept their position until he was told otherwise, it was up to Command to see what their next move would be

Finn nodded in agreement. He glanced around at the rest of the crew in the CIC to give reassuring nods. Sometimes, it was hard for a Starfleet crew to just sit back and wait, but that is what they were going to have to do in this case. The ball was in the separatist’s court and he was definitely in agreement with the captain that they needed to avoid any signs that they were not complying with the requests of their “hosts”.

He settled back into this chair to wait with everyone else.

Sapeth inclined his head, “As you with Captain, Commander. I’ve finished aligning the sensor array. Results should be appearing momentairly.”

Freja hated waiting, but she actively refrained from tapping her foot as she sat in her chair. As much as she hated waiting, she also knew she lacked something she desperately needed…information.

For now, it was better to play by the rules the Separatist council wanted. It wasn’t like she could just send the Chimera in and retake the system by force, she’d leave that for the larger fleet that Command would be bringing in a month’s time. For now, she’d settle for offering a way out for anyone who happened to not want to leave the Federation, if she could do that without destroying her ship in the process.
