OOC: Snipped from the Main CIC thread

Finn kept a smile firmly planted on his face as he stared at the Vulcan commanding officer across the viewscreen. He wasn’t sure if this was the best way to go about letting them know what the mission was but time was of the essence.

“Captain, I hate to be the bearer of bad news… there has been a separatist event in the Scallax system. The colony appears to be under separatist control and we’ve lost contact with a starship there. We are going in to see if we can keep bad from going to worse. Obviously, the hope is diplomacy but there’s also a lot of Federation technology in that system that needs to be accounted for. You’re coming along in case there’s some medical assistance to be offered… or in case the bad to worse thing happens.”

“I see. Send me what details you have, who is in command and where is our rendezvous point, population details etcetera.” At this the Captain turned and said “XO, Cancel the supplemental away missions. Inform Gerad’s team that they are to sit tight and to continue to co-ordinate local efforts until our return. Issue emergency recall orders for the other teams to take effect in 15 minutes.”

The Captain turned back and said. “We will be underway in less then 30 minutes. Favereau out.”

Colonel Aldric Voss leaned forward in his chair as the transmission playback stopped. He turned to his chief engineer and said “Well done Yuri, I see your efforts to override the lock out on the subspatial relays is starting to bear some fruit.”

“Thank you Colonel, the relay is still locked out remotely as far as all transmissions originating from inside Scallax go. Honestly I don’t know if we will be able to crack that, but we’ve been able to access the repeater functions on board the relay.”

At this Voss nodded, “Just as long as Command isn’t able to detect that we’ve regained access to the communications grid.”

“Negative Sir, it took some doing but I’ve managed to implement a duplication reader that allows us to read information flowing through the repeater sub-system without altering it or draining power. As far as I can tell, no one should be able to tell unless they were to physically inspect the device.”

“That’s outstanding work Captain. Please inform me when you manage to regain full access to the relay. Dismissed”

At that Captain Yuri Volkov saluted sharply and then about faced before smartly walking out of the Colonel’s office.

Voss leaned back as he retrieved his squeeze toy “Computer, using only the existing records on the ship. Identify the officers in this transmission.”

WORKING......

“Captain Y’lar, USS Favereau - Olympic Class Medical Frigate.”

“Hmm....there’s the carrot....”

Working.....working.....”Unable to identify secondary officers. Insufficient Data for concusive match”

“Your best guess on the ship then please computer”.

“84% probability second officer is assigned to USS Chimera, Mjolinir Class Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Light Attack Craft (LAC) Carrier.”

“Ahhh.....and there’s the stick.....Now…if I can just figure out where the hammer and anvil command will be readying are.”

At this Voss turned to look out the window as he contemplated how things had got here. A flash of annoyance flitted across his face before he dismissed such useless thoughts. He turned back to his console and went back to plotting where and how the inevitable response from command would arrive.
