Ensign Shau slowly moved through the corridors of the Chimera, his pace measured and purposeful. It allowed him the chance to take in his new ship while not aggravating any of his injuries.

MJ had been knocked unconscious during the harrowing escape from the Pickett. The next thing he remembered was waking up in Tribute’s sick bay being treated for multiple injuries. Many of the other survivors had already been assigned duties onboard the Tribute, and Ensign Shau wanted to keep himself busy as well.

That’s why he was transferred to the USS Chimera.

He felt that duties and routine would be a blessing. Without anything else to occupy his mind, MJ’s thoughts kept returning to events on the Pickett. He knew avoidance wasn’t a healthy strategy in the long term, but he needed a buffer from those feelings for the moment.

Which is why he was at the Chief Counselor’s office. More than just a normal check-in, this meeting was necessary to clear Ensign MJ Shau for duty onboard his new ship. He pressed the button to announce himself and request admittance.
