The Group of thrity five remaining crew members of the USS Pickett made their way carefully though the quickly corrupting corridors of their ship as they finally made it to the small shuttle bay with its two tiny shuttle pods they began to pile in Commander Thol leading his people was holding off the spread the shuttle bay was the last area of the ship that had yet to fall the Picketts AI shimmered roughly into existence “H…H…HurrYYYY C…COOMMMANDER IIIi/./III…I Cannnnn nottottttt Hoooolllddddd itttt....Backkkkkk Annnyyyyy Lonnnnger” the AI forced out it was clearly being consumed and corrupted by the entityCommander thol turned to get onto the shuttle and closed the shuttle door the shuttles launched just in time Now it was up to either the Tribute or the Chimera to save them from the threats

“Looks like we have incoming Pickett survivors, let’s try and keep the enemy off them so we can get them safely aboard either us or the Tribute,” Freja ordered as she observed the fight.

OOC: Apologies for my extended absence, working retail during the holiday season is a pain in the neck.
“Captain if you need me to I’ll help with the survivors and medical. Getting them into sickbay and what not. With your permission captain.” Melanie asked.

Chief of SecurityThe Picketts’ shuttles headed for the Tribute, which was staying mostly out of the fight for the moment. Over the comms, Commander T’arn’s voice cut through with urgency.
“Captain, might I recommend that the Tribute warp out with those two shuttles instead of docking them for now—as a quarantine procedure!” she shouted, her tone sharpened by the tense situation.
The Vornoth rocked violently as it took a hit from the attacking ships. T’arn continued with growing urgency, “Also, might I suggest we fall back and begin analyzing the information we’ve gathered to come up with a plan!”
Kira The Weasel
((GMT Phoenix))“Agreed on all points Commander T’arn, let’s retreat and live to fight another day,” Freja turned to tactical, “Let’s signal everyone to regroup with the rest of the fleet, we can’t hold this fight for now. Recall our fighters.”
~Freja Andreassen~
Lieutenant Threen struggled to maintain focus as the Dominion attack ships pressed their assault. One of the enemy vessels, caught in the sustained crossfire of the Chimera and the Vornoth, finally erupted in a violent explosion. From the wreckage, an ominous red mist began to spread outward, drifting eerily in the void.
“Scanning the debris now,” one of the bridge officers reported.
The readings sent a chill through the room. “The mist is… showing life signs,” another officer confirmed, their tone uneasy.
Threen’s jaw tightened. “Keep us clear of it. Let’s avoid any proximity to ships that are falling apart.”
But then, his breath hitched. His eyes darted to his console, and his voice rose. “Captain—the Pickett!”
The viewscreen shifted to display the USS Pickett, its systems flickering unnaturally as it powered up. The ship, now eerily active, began moving to join the rest of the corrupted fleet. The sacrifice of the lone brave officer who stayed aboard had failed to keep the ship from joining the horde before them.
Threen’s knuckles whitened as he gripped the edge of his console. Shaking off the momentary shock, he tapped his comms panel.
=^= “Fighters, full recall! Get back to the Chimera immediately. We are getting the hell out of here!” =^=
The urgency in his voice left no room for doubt as the Chimera prepared to retreat from the growing nightmare.
The Dominion Leech fighters, previously relentless in their pursuit, seemed to shift tactics. At first, they pressed the advantage, darting aggressively around the retreating Starfleet fighters. But almost as quickly as they had surged forward, they veered away, heading back toward their own fleet.
A grim realization began to settle among the bridge crews as they watched the Dominion ships cluster around their grotesque mothership. A massive tendril of biomatter extended from the monstrosity, latching onto a nearby Dominion battlecruiser.
=^=“It’s… eating it,”=^= one pilot muttered, his voice shaky over the comms.
The monstrous vessel appeared to be repairing itself, the gaping hull damage inflicted earlier—when the Y’Tang had been hurled into it—visibly knitting together as the battlecruiser was consumed.
In the chaos, it became clear to the retreating forces that whatever this entity was, it had decided to turn its attention inward, prioritizing its own survival. For now, it seemed, the Chimera and her escort ships were being spared, though the pilots knew better than to linger.
As the fighters banked hard to return to their carriers, the enormity of what they had witnessed hung heavy in the air. The Chimera was retreating not out of victory, but because a force beyond comprehension had granted them a momentary reprieve.
Kira The Weasel
((GMT Phoenix))“We’ll be back,” Freja spoke almost to herself, “Helm as soon as all fighters are back, let’s get out of here before that thing changes its mind. We need more details before we try and take it again. Let’s start analyzing the series of events and any sensor data, it’s a good place to start. Do we have any other telepaths aboard, if they sensed anything, I want them to write an account of it. I’ll do my own account once we’re out of the danger zone. There’s something very nasty going down with this thing.”
~Freja Andreassen~
As the fighters boarded and the ships jumped to warp thins quickly escalated again Threen crying from his station “Captain…They…They are following!!!” he said indicating the corrupted fleet was in persuit though at regular warp which seemed to be limited to about Warp 7 apparently whatever this corruption was it slowed the ships down greatly at FTL
Kira The Weasel
((GMT Phoenix))“How are they tracking us, anyone have some pointers on how to lose a tail in warp?” Freja asked.
~Freja Andreassen~
“Captain. I know I may not be one that does the scanning with out stepping on anyone’s toes. But if I must. I know it might be risky to say it but we mustn’t go into warp. If they are tracking us through warp it’s the best chance that they’ll catch up to us.” Melanie said. She just wasn’t sure she should’ve spoken up about it.

Chief of Security“We can’t exactly limp away at impulse though,” Freja remarked with a shrug, “What about that nebula mentioned in our mission briefing, if we take ourselves there, what are the chances we lose them? Thoughts? We need to buy some time while we figure out how to beat them, because another confrontation with them may be less than successful at this point.”
She leaned back in her chair, “I think whatever that thing is, it’s absorbing our people and tech, at least that’s my theory based on what I sensed from it with my telepathy. It’s probably gained some insight in how to track us that way, which is why we need to start thinking outside the box if we can.”
~Freja Andreassen~
“Well captain with my calculations. It is stable for a starship to go into. We can hide there for a good few hours. It is our best bet captain.” She nodded at the captain.

“Captain” a deep gruff voice said from the View screenon the screen came up the image of an imposing-looking Jem’Hadar “I was just about to suggest the same thingThe founders gave us permission to use the Nebula if it came down to it My ships weapons were ineffective against these creatures and it looked like yours were starting to become ineffective too towards the end of that fight” he said
Kira The Weasel
((GMT Phoenix))=^=Jeffers to the Captain. Captain, we have a plan to use hull polarisation as barrier for whatever this thing is. It won’t provide full protection but it will slow it down and give unshielded vessels at least a fighting chance. We’re also working on using the holo-emitters as a rudimentary barrier. I’m not too keen on testing out our theory on that one but it’ll do in a pinch.=^= Bob stated.
Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
=^=Jeffers you have my full permission to do what you can to stop these things, in the meantime we’re going to move the fleet into the nebula, hopefully that’ll confuse them and give us some much needed breathing space to get a better plan in play.=^=
=^= Aye Captain.=^=
“All ships, let’s get into the nebula, let’s keep working on figuring out what we can do to stop this thing,” Freja spoke louder, nodding to her helmsman to set a course to it.
~Freja Andreassen~
Melanie stood there thinking of a new plan not sure what it’ll do or if it’s going to be effective but thinking of a new one is better then not knowing at all.

The Chimera and her fellow ships outpaced the corrupted monsters that trailed them, though the enemy still clung to their tail. Eventually, the small task force managed to return to the system containing the Nebula, while the rest of the fleet—already alerted—had taken cover within it. However, as they entered the nebula, their shields were instantly rendered offline and their sensors scrambled.
Despite the confusion, it soon became apparent that the fleet was no longer being followed. The Chimera had just picked up the corrupted ships on the sensors at the precise moment when the Federation ship was about to enter the nebula. Curiously, the corrupted fleet appeared to retreat to the edge of the system, keeping as far away from the nebula as possible—almost as if they were deliberately avoiding it.
Meanwhile, some of the attack ships and the USS Pickett began to break off, heading elsewhere in search of other prey. It was also not long after entering the nebula, that the Picketts shuttles were allowed to dock with the USS Tribute. Commander Thol Sending a message to Captain Andreassen, respectfully suggesting that maybe they should hold a fleet-wide meeting over comms, to discuss what they have so far. at least after he made sure that all the survivors were taken care of first.
Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix“I wonder if this nebula has an effect on their....abilities?” Freja mused.
=^=Andreassen to all ships, we’ll convene on comms in about thirty minutes, giving Commander Thol time to tend to his people, we seem have been granted our breathing room for the time being, our enemy doesn’t appear to like this nebular for whatever reason, that will be one of the topics to discuss at length at this meeting, I’d like to hear some theories on why and maybe even more important, how we do exploit this knowledge,=^= Freja ordered.
~Freja Andreassen~
“Captain I might say, I did do some scans of my own, and noticed something rather strange. If you come and take a look at my initial scans it shows that the nebula was dense. But shortly as we came into the nebula. It got heavier. Which means it would disrupt their warp core and their impulse drive. Honestly I think it’s because it’ll make them become weaker then they are now which is why they never followed us in. Which gives us a better advantage. If they came in here as they would have followed us, everything would’ve been disrupted. So that is the main reason why they are staying out there captain.” Melanie looked at the captain and told the captain her findings.

Chief of SecurityOOC I am Voiding the above post! That is not the reason why the Corrupted ships are avoiding the nebula I am open to someone making scans and will be more than happy to provide actual information once a call for a scan has been made :D

GMT PhoenixOOC: Thanks Kira, just a gentle reminder folks, please do not create information vital to the simm without GM permission. Have your character set up scans and have Kira fill you in on what your character finds. Thanks! :)
IC:
“Not sure how the nebula will affect our scans, but let’s do what we can to see what we can find about what appears to be our sanctuary,” Freja ordered, “Between the scans and our work with the sample, maybe we can figure out what about this nebula has our enemy taking a hard pass on.”
~Freja Andreassen~
OOC: Sorry Kira.
IC: She stood there as she was running scans not knowing what she is going to find. She is going to be needing a good long break after this. She then stood there wondering what she is going to find but not sure exactly what it is she is looking for.

OOC its ok we all make mistakes :)
The nebula, at first glance, appeared much like any other—an immense, swirling cloud of gas and dust stretching across the void. However, scattered throughout its expanse were pockets of intense ionization, each crackling with latent electrical energy. While modern Starfleet vessels were well-equipped to navigate such conditions, these charged pockets could still interfere with long-range sensors and communications, creating unpredictable distortions. The result was a nebula filled with hidden alcoves of relative calm, interspersed with volatile zones—a perfect place for something, or someone, to remain concealed.
