Bob had been hard at work down in Engineering, getting to know his new team and making sure everything was ready in case they were called upon for a new mission. He had set an alarm for his medical check, which went off suddenly, making him jump and nearly hitting his head on a metal beam where he was working. Turning to the Ensign next to him he said.
“That’s me off for my medical check in. Wish me luck!” He boomed and smiled. The Ensign beamed back, Bob’s easy going manner was infectious.
“Good luck Chief!” The Ensign called as Bob hurried away towards Sickbay.

A few minutes later he entered smiling at everyone as he did so. He stood around at waited for a Doctor to become free and just incase stated “I’m here for my birding physical.”

Lt. Burcham looked up from the patient on the bio-bed in front of him. “Ahh yes. Ensign, finish this check up for me, please.” He stated to a medical ensign standing in the corner typing on a console. The Ensign took his place at the bio bed as the Chief Medical Officer approached the Chief Engineer. “You’re the new Chief Engineer, right? We’ll head to this bio-bed over here and run through your physical.” Lt. Burcham pointed at an empty bio-bed as he spoke.

Bob looked at the Doctor and smiled.
“That’s me. Bob Jeffers, pleased to meet you Doctor.” He replied as he walked over to the empty bio bed. He hopped up and waited for the Doctor to do his scans.

Lt. Burcham tapped buttons on the sie of the biobed, and it came to life and started scanning the Chief Engineer. “Well, Mr. Jeffers, everything is looking good so far.” Lt Burcham stated as he was reading the reports of the scans as they were being displayed on the screen of the biobed.

Bob beamed at Burcham.
“Great, that’s great news!” He stated. The scans showed nothing untoward really, although there was a minor ‘spot’ on the brain scan that would warrant further investigation.
“Doctors tend to make me a tad nervous so I’m glad everything’s okay Doctor.” Bob stated.

“Before I became a doctor, I was the same way. I dreaded going to checkups.” Lt. Burcham responded. “I do see this little spot on your brain, doesn’t look like anything serious at first glance, your records don’t mention it, but should we be worried about that? Did you know it was there?” Lt Burcham started asking questions not realizing he was talking so fast.

Bob looked a bit shocked at the results. He frowned trying to recall if anything had been mentioned before.
“No Doctor, I’m not aware of anything like that ever being mentioned. Should I be concerned?” He tried to keep a level tone but he was getting anxious.

“Probably not, it doesn’t look like it effects anything to keep you from duty, but I will run additional tests on it, and see what I can find.” Lt. Burcham responded tapping buttons on the biobed to scan it further. “A few seconds and we should get some answers.” He continued.
