Jeffrey, also known as Bob, looked around Engineering and beamed. He loved ships and being out on the stars. He had heard about the vacant position on the Chimera and had requested a transfer immediately. He did miss his previous team dearly, he’d made some good friends there, but it was time for a change, time to move on.
“What’cha smilin’ at Chief?” NE Boris asked. Jeffrey, lost in thought barely heard him.
“Hmmm..? Oh, nothing Boris. Nothing. Just wandering what my old team is up to now.” He replied pensively.
“Probably ‘avin’ a whale of a time without you.” Boris chuckled.
“Watch it Boris. I know where you sleep.” Jeffrey retorted with a laugh. At the moment another Ensign, NE G’reth, came running over.
“Oi, Chief don’t forget you’ve got a meeting with the Captain!” Jeffrey swore silently, he’d completely forgotten! Fortunately, he wasn’t late.
“Well chaps, it’s been good but I’m off to meet the big boss. Don’t, touch anything, and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” He said with a wink and left Main Engineering. On his way Jeffrey walked past many Officers who greeted him with a smile and a “alright Bob!” It seemed that he’d made quite the impression already after such a short amount of time on the ship. Eventually, he made it to the Captain’s office. He straightened out his uniform, pressed the chime and entered when called.
“Lieutenant Bob Jeffers reporting for duty.” He said smartly with a salute.Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
“Ah yes, my new Chief Engineer,” Freja greeted with a smile after watching the door slide open, appraising the officer with her dark eyes, “Come in, grab a seat. Are you finding your department in order?”

Bob beamed back and walked over to the offered chair. Bob was much shorter than the Captain, he had a bushy brown beard, bright blue eyes and short brown hair.
“Thank you ma’am.” He said in his big booming voice that didn’t quite match his short stature.
“Absolutely, ‘nout wrong with them that I’ve seen so far. A little rough around the edges here and there, but I’ll soon whip them up into shape.” Bob replied practically oozing enthusiasm.Lt Bob Jeffers (CE)
“I have no doubt that you will,” Freja replied, “I always find taking over a new department does take a little time to get things running the way you like. I expect soon we’ll have our marching orders, but for now, do you have any questions about the ship or any requests for equipment or the like?”
~Freja Andreassen~
Bob nodded in agreement.
“Indeed Captain. It’s exciting, being on a new ship I’m looking forward seeing what my team can do!” He then paused for a moment thinking about questions he had. He always found that difficult to answer.
“You have a compliment of pilots. Is there anyone I should look out for? Anyone who happens to bump and scrape a fighter that I’ll need to repair often?” He asked.Lt Bob Jeffers (CE)
“The marines generally take care of themselves,” Freja replied, “We have two unique marine organizations aboard, the air complement as well as the batallion, what works the best for us is mutual coexistence. I find some newer crew tend to be a bit…overzealous in their introductions to both Lt. Colonel Lardel and Lt. Colonel Cull, which as you might imagine doesn’t typically go over all too well with either seasoned commander. I’m fond of saying that so long as neither Lardel or Cull tell me how to Starship Captain, I won’t tell them how to marine,” she remarked with a nod, “Lardel’s fighters are the best of the best, knowing the Colonel like I do, having served together for a few missions now, I highly suspect anyone overtly clumsy with his fighters won’t last long as a pilot under his command.”
She leaned back, “Prior to switching to the command track, I was a fighter on the Starfleet side, commanding squadrons and whatnot, I didn’t have a huge amount of grace for people who didn’t respect their equipment, if you catch my drift,” she finished with a smile.

Bob smiled in return he certainly caught on. He had heard vague rumours about the Captain’s pilot past. He also understood just how protective pilots could be of their fighters, though he had known of some who hadn’t treated them well.
“I understand perfectly Captain. That’s very good to know. Is there anything else I should know?” He asked. He was eager to get started so he could get up and running as soon as possible. A new posting was always exciting.Lt Bob Jeffers (CE)
“Not that I can think of, if you find anything lacking in engineering before we leave spacedock, let my XO know so we can get you fully set up and ready for the next mission,” Freja replied with a grin.
~Freja Andreassen~
Bob nodded with a smile.
“Thank you Captain. I doubt I will, it’s a fine ship and everything seems to be in order. You don’t happen to know anything about our next mission Captain?” Bob asked trying to pry for information, anything that might give a close as to what to prepare for.Lt Bob Jeffers (CE)
“Unfortunately nothing quite yet, but I expect something soon.”
~Freja Andreassen~
Bob nodded, slightly disappointed that nothing had been given away in the Captain’s response.
“That’s a shame Captain. I’ll make sure to get the ship in shape in preparation.” He replied.
“Do you have any more questions for me Captain?” He asked, eager to get underway.Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
“No, I do not, I’m sure you’ll have that department organized in no time,” Freja replied with a smile, “Dismissed, since I can tell you’re eager to get into the thick of it.”

Bob nodded and stood smartly, popped a salute and smiled.
“Thank you Ma’am I definitely am.” He replied, turned on his heels and left the room heading for Engineering.
