USS Chimera
Engineering is a funny place [Open]
Vega hummed softly to herself as she worked through her daily routine in the engineering bay of the Chimera. The steady hum of the warp core and the occasional beep of consoles formed the familiar soundtrack of her workspace. As she methodically conducted her routine checks, her mind wandered, preoccupied with thoughts of the evening ahead.
Tonight was supposed to be special—a rare opportunity to unwind and indulge in some much-needed relaxation. She had planned to replicate her favourite meal, a hearty stew reminiscent of home, and spend the evening in the comfort of her quarters, perhaps catching up on some reading or finally starting that holonovel she had been eyeing for weeks.
But as she adjusted the power couplings with practiced precision, her thoughts drifted back to recent events aboard the ship. There had been whispers of impending changes in the command structure, rumors that had set the crew on edge. Vega couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anxiety at the uncertainty looming on the horizon whether it was true or not.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t notice someone approaching until they cleared their throat behind her. Startled, Vega turned to face the person, momentarily flustered by the interruption.
