Muhjon received the word that there are problems with the way the tractor beam would work where they are going, presumably because of high radiation and the influence of many ships and debris in the area as well. Assembling a task force of himself, two tractor beam specialists, some scientists and whomever else could be of use in the engineering conference room he began.“Ok. Everyone. There is a problem with the tractor beam not being able to either work properly or is not strong enough to tow such a massive ship. Which is weird considering how massive our ship is. There also might be a problem with other ships and debris around as well not including our very own Marine detachmenthelping to safeguard and clear the area. So I’ve come up with some ideas which O have listed on the board here. Please chime in with your thoughts, experiences, expertise and suggestions after I read them to you.”
“One. Physics is our friend. As you know, in space, if we can get something moving it will stay moving and at that speed until there is interference like debris, asteroids, planets, stars blackholes and like in the way. So if we use our shuttles, we can push that ship in our direction or at least out of danger and then use the tractor beam.”
“Two. We modify the tractor beam using the deflector dish to increase its power. But then that leaves our ship more vulnerable to radiation and attacks.”
“Three. We use the same principle as example number one but make a bunch of small floating and remote controlled little tractor beams that deploy out and help with moving the ship. That’s where the Science department comes into play.”
“Four. We get every ship in the area including our shuttles and spare Fighters to use their small tractor beams to move as one in order to move that ship out of hand way so it can be fixed.”
Looking around the room. “I know I’ve more than likely missed something but this was a bunch of off the cuff ways to help. What are all of your thoughts and suggestions?” While he waited he poured himself a cup of coffee.
Lt. Muhjon Vamuhn, CE
OOC: Mind if I help out here?
-Kieron-
OOC: Please do! I was away for awhile and don’t really know what’s going on.
Travis
OOC: The ‘Empress’, a large cruise liner has suffered an accident and is in danger of falling into gravitational shears not not mention ignited stellar plasma running between two binary stars - a tourist attraction. The Chimera is the largest closest ship that can potentially assist such a large vessel not to mention 6000+ crew and passengers on board. The ship has just arrived in system ..
- WookieeOOC: Thank you.
Travis
OOC: The XO will now be making his way to Engineering to discuss a different plan. :)
-Kieron-
OOC: Sure thing.

Moments later, the main Engineering bay doors slid aside to reveal a very determined-looking Commander Lunan. “Lieutenant Vamuhn, I hope you’re not too busy, the Captain and I have a plan we’d like to discuss.”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
BUMP
-Kieron-
Looking up and snapping to attention when he saw who is was. “Yes sir! I’m all ears. What have you got?”
Lieutenant Muhjon Vamuhn, CE
“No time for formalities Lieutenant, I came up with the idea to fire a subspace pulse towards the Empress, in order to push her away from danger, sound like a reasonable plan to you?”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
“Roger that sir. That sounds like a plan but we’ll need to know information before firing it. Like what are the gases made up of surrounding the Enpress. I don’t want you to ignit something and we need to calculate the pull on the Empress so we can determine how strong of a pulse is needed. I can do that right now from this console with your permission?”
Lt. Muhjon Vamuhn, CE
“Granted, the sooner we get underway with this the better.”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
Jon nodded and sat back down at his desk and researched what he said. Looking back up at the XO after a few minutes. “Sir. What you say is good to go and there are no gases that will ignit per the system. We will need to send a couple. The first will detonate past the Empress then the other a little closer to the ship and likewise until there is enough inertia to propel the ship away.”
Lt. Muhjon Vamuhn, CE
“That should do the trick Lieutenant,” Lunan tapped his combadge, “=^= Lunan to Bridge, we’re ready to go down here, on your go. =^=”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
“Roger that” Muhjon said after the Commander finished his communique. He smiled and pleased that he was able to help.
Lt. Muhjon Vamuhn,CEThe gases were ignited stellar matter that were flaring and was in a space behind (relatively speaking) the Empress and the Knight, who was trying to keep the Empress from the gravitational shearing in that region.
OOC: As a clarification you are suggesting the pulses both between the Empress and the stellar flare - one farther away and one closer to it? Or one at that beyond and one on your side of the ship? That would put the pulse closer to the Knight who is assisting .. if this is to propel two craft that essentially outmasses the Chimera .. remember that you have 60 fighters in the area of the Knight looking to attach to its hull and shuttle/runabouts collecting passengers each of which are much less mass and would be affected by that. Not to say it can’t be done .. just logistically needing coordination ..
WookieeOOC: It would be too propel the Empress away from danger. It would be slow going but it could be done. In space, once you get something moving, it will remain moving until something stops it. So, I just have to get it moving.
As far as the fighters go, that is the XO’s business. I’m not firing anything. The XO will give that order.
Travis
OOC: In my head, the plan was to have the fighters get as many passengers off the Empress as poss, then get the subspace pulse to shunt the ship out of harm’s way.
-Kieron-
OOC: Roger that. Not meant to sound critical there so apologies if it came across that way. Was just seeing a lot of things happening. Gene
OOC: That’s fine mate. I didn’t mean to sound critical either.
TravisOOC: You didn’t don’t worry, god knows plans can get buried under technobabble sometimes!
-Kieron-
Bump!

BOARD BUMP
-Kieron-
OOC: What are we waiting on here?
TravisOOC: From reading above there is a matter of two things before you can activate the pulse …
1. The fighters need to be recalled out of the danger area
2. The command given to do it
- geneHappy to get going on whatever I need to do!
-Kieron-
OOC: Roger that. Thanks Gene.
IC. Looking at the bip on the screen and seeing what was happening outside on his monitor. “Commander! The haul on the Empress has a couple failures when they moved it and now all ships have stopped moving. Look here! If they stay there the radiation and other forces will kill them all and or tear them apart.”
Lt. Muhjon Vamuhn CE
=^=Bridge to Engineering, how’re things coming with your project? We might need a solution sooner rather than later,=^= Freja’s voice sounded over the comms.
~Freja Andreassen~
“Damn, is there any way we can get the other ships moving?” On the message, Lunan tapped his combadge, “=^= We may have a new problem Captain, the ships helping the Empress appear to have stopped moving! =^=”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
OOC: I just realized the XO is in engineering. My bad, we had a major snowstorm blow through and it made my sinuses blow up. I’m still a little fuzzy today, but on the mend.
IC:
=^=Yeah, the Empress is starting to buckle under the strain. One second.=^=
It was obvious the CO was gathering information from other teams before she again commed main engineering.
=^=Andreassen to Engineering, can we link into the marine shuttle’s transporters to enhance a signal enough to beam more people off, the ship is starting to crumble and we need options? I’m going to fly a runabout to assist the marine fighters with their operations. Also, I’m going to pilot a runabout to assist with evacuations, along with NEs Cannon and Fodder who are trained pilots, if you can find some additional personnel for the sixteen standard shuttlecraft we have, get them flying. Otherwise, you are in charge of the Chimera, don’t scratch the paint.=^=
~Freja Andreassen~
That was possible …
Wookiee“Certainly seems like something we could try,” Lunan thought aloud, turning to Vamuhn, “What do you think?”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
OOC: Crossposting from the CO! :)
=^=Andreassen to Chimera, we need extra transport power now or we’re going to have trouble clearing the gravity well with our fighters and shuttles. Get it rigged up now.=^=

NE Spanner took a deep breath and approached the XO and CE, “With your permission sirs, I can try and boost transporter power for the fighters so we can funnel more people off the Empress.”
~NE Spanner~
OOC: Just in the interest of moving this along....
“Granted Ensign, let’s get our people safe!”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
“Yes sir,” NE Spanner began tapping buttons on the console to access the transporter controls, finding some additional power that wasn’t presently being used to boost transporter controls on the ship as well as on the runabouts and fighters. Spanner was careful to leave some leftover power reserves around in case anyone needed it to make an escape from one of the hazards in the system. Initializing the program, she crossed her fingers and hoped it would provide enough power to increase the speed at which the runabouts, shuttles and fighters could complete their evacuation runs.
~NE Spanner~
Vega Dal rushed into main engineering, her mind swiftly analysing the urgency of the situation. As she approached the XO and CE, her eyes flickered with determination.
“XO, Chief Engineer, Spanner,” she acknowledged, her tone crisp and focused. “I’ve been monitoring power distribution from an alternate station and I’ve devised a solution to amplify transporter capabilities for the fighters. With your approval, I can initiate a realignment of power matrices to prioritise transport operations.”
Swiftly interfacing with the main console, Vega accessed the ship’s power grid, her fingers dancing across the interface with an elegant touch. “I propose initiating a strategic power reroute,” she explained, her voice confident and assured. “By optimising power modulation and reallocating redundant energy reserves, we can augment transporter efficiency without compromising critical ship functions and it will work in conjunctions with spanner’s solution”
Ensign Vega Dal

USS Chimera“Reroute whatever you need from every system except life support Ensign, the sooner those people are safe the better?”
-Lt Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
Dal nodded in acknowledgment of the XO’s directive, her focus unwavering as she continued to work swiftly at the main console. “Understood, sir,” she replied, her voice steady despite the urgency of the situation. “I’ll prioritise power rerouting to the transporter systems and ensure that life support remains unaffected.”
Vega began to implement the proposed strategic power reroute, her fingers flying across the interface as she adjusted the ship’s power matrices. She carefully balanced the allocation of energy, diverting power from non-essential systems to bolster the transporter capabilities without compromising the integrity of critical ship functions.
As the power realignment progressed, Vega monitored the ship’s systems closely, ensuring that each adjustment was executed smoothly and without incident.
After several tense moments, Vega completed the power reroute, her eyes scanning the console for any signs of instability or malfunction. Satisfied that the realignment had been successful at least to her, she turned to the XO and Chief Engineer, her expression determined. “Power reroute complete, sirs,” she reported. “We can’t give anything else without affecting life support and critical systems”
Ensign Vega Dal
Engineer
USS ChimeraOOC: I’m back in the land of the living, having unearthed myself from an avalanche of work that kept dodging in the way of posting .. I think I have beat it into submission, or at least beat it off for the moment. Absence far too long .. ugh .. Gene
IC:With the ship stationery there were considerable power reserves to spare that Vega Dal was able to procure. What she was able to do was at least make the power draws dynamic for their current needs. Ship critical systems were secure for power. This was fine for the Chimera whose power availability was considerable.
The runabouts and transports were another story, being smaller and with operational needs not to mention being in the thick of the situation at hand. The power availability was dicey and constantly changing between maneuvering, requiring thrusters and shields at random times, and transporters. Vega was able to potentially coax between 6-8% more power from those ships for transporters .. at least should they adopt the changes.
WookieeOOC: Guessing you’re not doing a kind of engineering takeover of the runabouts and transports .. may want to let them know what you’re doing :)
“Excellent work Ensign,” Lunan said proudly, then tapped his combadge, “=^= All Marines, this is the XO, we’ve rerouted a bit more power to the transporters from Engineering, my hope is that this will help you evacuate as many of the Empress’ passengers as possible. =^=”
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
=/\=Roger Chimera. We’ll hold steady in a relay to help hold the signal. If the sheer gets too much, we’ll have to break off though,=/\= Siraa responded.
Mar. Capt. sh’Rharror, Delta SQLD
As Vega completed the power reroute, a sense of accomplishment washed over her, mingling with the lingering tension of the situation. She spared a brief glance at the console, ensuring that everything was functioning as intended, before turning her attention back to the XO and Chief Engineer.
Internally, Vega knew that she had pushed the limits of the ship’s power reserves to their maximum capacity. But she also knew that there was potential to extract even more power from the runabouts and transports, albeit at the cost of their operational stability. It was a risky move, one that could strain the smaller vessels beyond their limits, but it was a gamble she was willing to take.
With a determined expression, she addressed the XO and Chief Engineer once more. “With the ship stationary, we have considerable power reserves that I’ve reallocated to meet our current needs,” she explained. “But the runabouts and transports are in a more precarious position, with fluctuating power demands and operational requirements. I believe I can coax an additional 6-8% more power from their systems for the transporters, but it would require significant adjustments and could impact their maneuverability and shield effectiveness. However, I’m confident that it would enhance our evacuation efforts and maximize our chances of rescuing as many of the Empress’ passengers as possible.”
Her words hung in the air, a silent plea for approval and understanding. She knew the risks involved, but she also believed in her abilities to execute the plan effectively and ensure the safety of those in need.

USS ChimeraOOC: Somewhere in the dark and distant past there was a crazy idea about a pulse .. with fighters out of the way, the Knight moving off and such this may be your chance .. just sayin .. Wookiee
‘Have we transported enough of the passengers away in order to try the pulse?’ Lunan asked hopefully.
-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
NE Spanner looked up from the readings, “I think the Empress is out of time, if the fighters are clear we can do it. I’ve already set things up for it. If we don’t do it, anyone left on the Empress is dead.”
~NE Spanner~
Confirming the modifications NE Spanner made, Alexander turned his head away from the console to face Farrah : “On your mark, Sir”. He was confident the pulse could move the ship, but he wasn’t sure about his final state when disengaged from the binary stars.
