The main bay doors opened onto the Marine Flight Deck and dozens of Marines, all armed and armored, came trotting in. A truly intimidating Xindi-Reptillian form in a Marine uniform and wearing Lieutenant Colonel rank led them inside and he barked “Whose in command here while Hannibal is on mission?!”

A large, barrel-chested Tellerite in worn and dirty overalls with an unlit cigar between his teeth stepped forward and saluted. “Captain Grel, Colonel.” Cull saluted back and then kept walking, putting hand on the porcine-faced Engineer’s shoulder and guiding him with him. “Captain Andreassen requested more security on the flight deck as the Evac shuttles arrive. I don’t want Fleet Security stepping foot in here and getting pancaked by a bird coming in, so the Raiders are here to assist. So tell me Captain… where can we post up to be out of your way but still able to screen the new arrivals? We are gonna coordinate with Ship Security and do a preliminary screening of everyone coming in.”

Grel scowled for a moment and then said “Copy, Colonel. Okay… here’s what we’ll do. The birds’ll land there-” and he pointed to the designated unloading area, “- and then’ll move to launch to go back and grab more folks. I’d recommend that you all set up at the arrival and scan as the people unload before turning them over to Fleet Medical and Security. Plus, we can quarantine any issues in the repair bay. No birds in there at the moment, so it’s empty.” Cull nodded and said “You got it, Captain.” and he put two scaled fingers in his mouth and whistled loudly, gesturing for the Raiders to follow him. In just a few minutes, the security checkpoints were set and the isolation bay was ready. Cull tapped his commbadge. =/\= Marine CO to ship’s security. We have established a preliminary security screening post inside the hangar. Request you position ship security outside so we can hand them off to you for assistance on-boarding. =/\=

Cull, MCO

=/\=IRIS to Grel. SAR will be landing Starboard side. Let Doctor Tulbrad’s medical team in, they have severe casualties on board. Keep them out of the way. Open bay doors=/\=

The doors opened and the first of the SAR shuttles entered, landing off to the side, and then the transport shuttles came in fast, with precision, like a ballet. Entering, turning on a 0 degree and then landing. The rear hatches opened and the Marine crews in the shuttles were relieved to see the Raider’s lined up to take their passengers. They directed the evacuees toward the Raiders and out of the shuttles toward safety. Once they were empty the shuttles darted out of the bay and the next group was ready to enter.

Mar Cpt sh’Rharror, Delta SQLD

The arrival and dispatch was a little more sedate given the limited docking ports available on the Empress . It was a mostly staggered approach between two shuttles but they became routine. Injuries tended to appear more severe in the shuttles which were in the stern end of the ship and less or not noticeable toward the bow. The women were a mix of planetary origins but each had a mostly common expression of ‘what happened!?’ None were emotional beyond a couple thankful for being rescued and embracing their rescuer as they exited the shuttle.

Some were removed on stretchers while others were able to walk. Makeshift slings and improvised bandages were the order of the day on many. About half the women, be they a representative of the crew helping to organize or just help on the shuttles, or passengers were either appearing free of injury or only with bruises or shaken up.

Stern side injuries included broken bones, burns and smoke inhalation (mostly one or the other) with one human dressed in sequins and white jacket (Elvis impersonator?) with distinct internal injuries and an abdominal puncture wound. From the bow end were bumps and bruises and sprains.

Cull watched as the evacuees came on board. He didn’t speak, but snapped clawed fingers and made a few hand gestures. The Raider Marines nodded and scanners came out and they began scanning every individual from the Empress. Unlike the previous scans though, these weren’t to see if or how they were injured. The raiders were looking for weapons and explosives. If they found a weapon, they would remove it and tag it with the name of the passenger. If even a residue of explosive was present, the Raiders marked them in their helmet’s HUD and forwarded the name and picture to the Security teams outside of the flight deck. And while some Raiders scanned… many more simply watched, looking for anything that stood out as odd for the situation.

Cull, MCO

No explosives were detected. There was some residue that was detected of accelerants and the like - and these exclusively from the kitchen cooking staff. While that didn’t indicate specifically explosives or residue from explosives it still did come up. The numbers of said persons eventually approached 50 ..

There was .. some issue between some of the marines and passengers - notably the female Klingons and Andorians who, while none had energy weapons, had blade weapons that they were .. resistant to giving up and they as well collected in a growing pocket of people in the deck in the midst of the unloading and tending to the injured.

Cull walked forward and looked at the group of ‘blade enthusiasts’. “I am Lieutenant Colonel Drangon Cull of the Federation Marines. I understand your reluctance to check your weapons; but I am afraid this is non-negotiable. You will turn your weapons in here and they will be cared for by my Marines until such a time as you are ready to disembark the Chimera. If you wish to not check your weapons, you are always free to return to your cruise ship. These are the terms of your boarding this vessel. Now… please move yourselves out of the way of the medical staff. And that isn’t up for discussion.” He pointed further into the hangar and looked at the group expectantly.

Cull, MCO

The group did move as requested. There didn’t seem to Cull that there was issue with that and some in the group did look chagrined that they may have interrupted the evacuation. One of the Klingon women stepped forward and faced off with Cull evidently as some defacto spokeswoman.

Gallahan responded to the request for a Security Team on the Flight Deck. He walked in and couldn’t believe how busy things seemed. He knew from briefing that there was a large number of passengers and crew, but seeing it manifested took him quite by surprise. Nevertheless, he look around for a member of his ships company that could tell him how to be of use.

Ensign Scott Gallahan
Security Officer

Scott was seeing a small marine group having some issue with a group of mostly Klingon and Andorian women. One stepped forward to face the marine, Cull. She was tall and possessed with a dreadlocked mane of dark hair, dressed in fairly classic ‘casual’ Klingon garb .. a black leather bodice that ended in a short leather skirt in an almost Roman-esque design. She grinned at Cull. “Finally. Whoever thought an all female cruise would be good for the soul was an idiot.” She gave him what was an unmistakable leer. “I am Gi’ral. You are welcome to try to take .. I am in a mood I might even let you do it.” There was a chuckle amongst the other Klingon women there. The Andorians looked like they were about to take wagers.

Cull looked down at her for a long moment, and then simply shrugged. “I am not here to force you to do anything, Gi’ral. Nor am I someone you should think to use for your enjoyment…” and he leaned in and whispered in her ear “… because I would ruin you for all others.” and he leaned back. He turned his head. “Gunnery Sergeant McKeeve!” he barked, and a human male built like a train engine stepped forward and saluted. “Sir!” he said and Cull looked back at Gibralta”Lady Gi’ral is reluctant to relinquish her weapons. That is fine. She may board the next transport going back to the Empress and remain there.” The Gunny looked at Cull, then the Klingon, and then back at Cull. “Aye, sir.” and he looked at Gi’ral. “Ma’am. This way, please.” Cull looked at the Klingon woman and said “Good luck. Or… leave your blade here and later tonight I can prove to you I am no liar.” and he stared directly into her eyes in a blatant challenge.

Cull, MCO

Scott was hesitant to get involved in situation that was already becoming heated, and very concerned about treading on the Marine Commander’s toes, but the last thing that needed to go down here was fight - and dread to think of the consequences if it happened whilst he was there. So having quickly weighed up his choices Ensign Gallahan moved in closer to the pair to make his presence known.

Ensign Scott Gallahan
Security Officer

Bump for GM

There came a commotion farther along the flight deck. The number of passengers and crew of the Empress were starting to clog up the flight deck some and the general processing of them whether medically or otherwise was becoming more chaotic. It seemed that more than just this group of ladies were happy to see some male presence about and was taking just enough chatter time to slow up the works.

Gi’ral and others in this near cluster looked at the growing commotion and shook their heads then looked back to the security detail with a glance that may have said something like ‘females’. “I will bargain with you,” she said to Cull and Gallahan. “We will help you herd your targs and then see what comes after.”
- Gi’ral and group

“Just get ‘em off the flight deck before I have to.” Cull said and held up a finger to Gi’ral. “And they may think that sounds like fun right now, but it won’t be. I need this deck cleared and these passengers inside right now. We are being gentle, Ma’am… and we really aren’t required to be. You have twenty seconds.” and he stepped back to see what the Klingon and her party could do.

Cull, MCO

A snaggle toothed grin formed on her face. “Our pleasure,” then turned to the group behind her. “All right ladies, I see three exits. There .. there and there. Andorians to that one. Klingons we take the center. Tellarites and the rest this one. Herd targs. Fastest group has the honor and the blood wine later.” They moved off, cutting a swath through the milling women and working to clear the flight deck and not being ‘that’ gentle about it on the part of the Klingons, not being too quiet of it on the part of the Tellarites and not being too diplomatic about it on the part of the Andorians as they set up a small shuffling stampede toward the exits.

Cull nodded and then looked at the Flight Deck NCO. “Get the birds back out and into evac rotation.” The Tellerite Marine snapped a salute and turned and ran off, barking orders. Cull looked around and surveyed the scene, looking for the next snag in the fabric of the operation.

“Well” Gallahan said in almost disbelief “That went as well as could be expected. I’m around if you need me sir”

Cull, MCO

At the doors to the bay, Manika was directing passengers towards the security check points and the medical personnel near-by. She watched to make sure none of the check points got overwhelmed. The Marines with her were also doing secondary scans for weapons and contraband. She was also looking out for any potential problems.

Maj. Manika-Esp, 2IC, Marine Battalion

Cull watched the crowd with a critical gaze and watched as they moved form transport to the Chimera. Every now and then, he would catch the gaze of one of the Raiders and have them single out a particular individual for extra screening; but never was a word spoken. Hand signals and looks born of familiarity conveyed messages across the flight deck without being drowned out by the din of voices and machines.

Cull, MCO

Gallahan stood by and kept a close eye on the goings on in the flight deck, ready and on hand if he was needed.

Ensign Scott Gallahan
Security Officer

Ms. Hall came in and stood right next to Ensign Gallahan and noticed something was going on. She then had to ask the young ensign “Ensign might I ask what is going on?” She asked him confused as she stood next to him wondering what was going on.

CoS Hall

“Yes Ma’am. A situation....” He began, but was cut off by the Marine.

A large reptillian form walked towards the two Fleet Security officers. He was dressed in the working uniform of a Fleet Marine and wore Lieutenant Colonel rank bars on his collar. “Lieutenant Junior Grade. Ensign.” he said in deep voice reminiscent of a far off erupting volcano. “Now, while I certainly have no issue with your presence here as we unload the passengers from the cruise liner; I am also very aware that Lieutenant Colonel Lardel, the Commander of the Fighter Wing, takes a dim view of non-Marines being on his flight line. So in the interests of mutual cooperation and not wanting to see you both face his wrath… can I help you?”

Cull, Marine Commanding Officer

“Yes Sir. I was responding to a call for a Security Team to help with the arrival of the Passengers from the Cruise Liner.” He explained, suddenly feeling unwelcome. “I was hoping to be of some assistance, but I was standing by in case conversation with the Klingon Lady became… heated”

Ensign Scott Gallahan
Security Officer

Cull chuckled and set a hand on the Ensign’s shoulder. “I appreciate the backup, Ensign. But from what I could garner from the individual it wasn’t her conversation I needed to worry about heating up.” and he laughed. He looked at Hall and said “So Lieutenant… think you may be able to get some extra Security outside in the passageway? If we get emergency landings coming in, these folks are gonna get hurt. We need to get them out of the hanger and into the ship ASAP.”

“Yes. I will get my people in place immediately. However, I’ll have the Ensign there as well. I’ll try to help as much as I can from sickbay and here as much as possible. Besides, my people know what they are doing.” She said with a smile of confidence.

“Of that I have no doubt, Lieutenant. And thank s for the assist.” Cull said and then walked back towards the crowd of passengers. “MARINES!” he yelled across the flight deck and every green-clad uniform’s head snapped in his direction. “We’ve been nice. We’ve been polite. We’ve been professional. They are still dragging their feet! Get them off this flight deck and over to ship’s Security NOW.” The Marines all yelled “AYE SIR!” and turned to the passengers and started moving the crowd through the checks and into the ship.

“Thank you colonel.” She said.

Outside the corridor Manika continued to help direct people to the correct Fleet Security checkpoints. “No ma’am. I understand you want to go with your injured friend, but Sickbay will be crowded enough. Please proceed to check point B. Give the security officer there your name and your friends name. Any vital information you feel they need you can give to them and it will be passed to medical.” She turned away, “If you are injured or sick please proceed to the right to check point A. Security will assist you in seeing medical. If you are not please proceed left to checkpoint B for accomodation assignment. Star Fleet Security is ready to assist you. Please proceed to the appropriate checkpoint.” Manika let out a quick shrill whistle and motioned to a few of the Raiders to help move the mass clogging the doorway. They really needed a different staging area than the corridor for all these people.

Maj. Manika-Esp, 2IC, Marine Battalion

Cull, MCO

Hall looked at Major Manika and finally said. “Major my people are in place and are ready to help you out. Like I said to Cull, I’ll be going back and forth helping medical and here if need be. My officer Ensign Gallahan will stay here and help direct people. He is one of my best officers.” She said.

CoS Hall

Esp’s avian beaked face turned toward with piercing eyes. It was hard to tell her expression, but it was meant to be friendly. She offered a hand for a quick shake. She hadn’t met the Lt yet, but she’d familiarized herself with the names and faces of the Chimera crew she was most likely to cross paths with. “Lt. Hall. Yes, they have been very efficient. We’re not trying to step on any toes here. Just help direct the passengers to your people and keep the doors clear. We don’t want the evacuation crews coming in hot and people get hurt.

Maj. Manika-Esp, 2IC, Marine Battalion

Cull, MCO

“That’s right Major and I do appreciate it. I know my people are doing what they can. I know that they’ll be sufficient for this. Something tells me that the ensign will be a good fit for something like this. However, with how hard he has worked. I’m putting in something to the captain for him. But like I said as chief of Security I know my people will do the best of their ability. Major.” She had said to the major.

CoS Hall

“Your department has good people, Lt. If there is anything else we can do to assist, just let us know.” Manika moved forward to help one of the passengers who was limping and getting jostled by the crowd. She helped the woman through the crush back to her companion and they moved off to the security check point.

Maj. Manika-Esp, 2IC, Marine Battalion

As Cull watched the people move forward- now much more quickly with the Marine’s ‘encouragement’- he noticed one Bajoran woman looking around more so than her peers. Cull’s eyes narrowed and he focused his vision on her. She moved a little awkwardly, and in a few seconds Cull saw why. He strode through the crowd, most of the individuals moving but a few being forcibly moved as the mass of the Marine CO made his way to the woman. Stepping in front of her, the reptilian Marine stared down at her. “The bag. Open it. NOW.” he said in a tone that caused everyone around to stop and stare. The woman looked up and said “What? It’s nothing. Just my belongings! Why are you-” and a clawed hand shot forward and the bag was yanked from where she had secreted it on her side. “NO!” she yelled and tried in vain to grab the bag. Cull put a hand on her shoulder and gently but firmly pushed her into the waiting grasp of two Marines. He opened the bag, and a low rumble escaped his throat. He put a hand in the bag and pulled up five clear vials filled with a softly glowing blue liquid. “Breeze.” he said and his head snapped to the Marine XO and Security Chief. “A whole bag. Transport of illicit materials and banned substances on a Star Fleet vessel. Major. Lieutenant. I will leave you both to sort this out.” and he tossed the bag in the air and towards the Marine XO.

Cull, MCO

Esp watched the whole exchange with hawk like attention. She quite literally lifted off the floor a foot or so, wings spread, and snatched the bag with amazing agility. She turned to Lt Hall and opened the bag so they could both look in. “Add to that, smuggling of illicit materials on a Federation Marine Vessel. We might be stationed on a Star Fleet Vessel, but those rescue shuttles are Marine property. This won’t go well for you, ma’am.” She said to the woman who was being brought over to Lt. Hall. She let the Lt take the bag for evidence. “The Col and I will file a report with you as soon as we have the evacuation complete.”

Maj. Manika-Esp, 2IC, Marine Battalion

OOC: I’ll let you play that through if you like as you started it ..

“I appreciate it Major. I’ll be in my office and I’ll speak to you about how well we all did in this line of crisis of all of this. This is the most pivot moment for the federation and Starfleet as well as the Marines. I know you guys have done well for this. And I will be most gladly see that report when you can get it to me Major.” She said as she was helping getting the injured to the med bay.

CoS Hall

The injured woman in question was moving with a noticeable limp. Her twin sister was with her. Both wore a kind of wispy shimmering fabric that only accentuated their figures and slight bathing suit under it. “Thank you,” she said with at thick accent that may have been from Argelia. “Was walking along the pool when .. did we hit something? And I fell.”
Her sister remarked, “Better that than caught in the Tsunami from the pool.” She sighed. “And no hunky lifeguards to save me.” She didn’t look particularly injured or shaken. “You are walking better now. Hip loosening up?”
“Some, but I am not about to give up this chance for an escort.”

“The faster you clear the flight deck, the faster my Marines are off-duty ladies. So get a move on.” Cull said with a wink and slight push to the exits.

Meanwhile the situation in the bay was that it was increasingly getting crammed with people thanks to greater efficiency with the shuttles. It could be bad were there an emergency but at the moment everyone was doing the best they could and the corridors were only so wide.
