The door to the Chief Science Officer’s Office hissed open, and a lean ornithoid stepped into the room, his soft plumage a lurid yellow-green.
Standing at attention, he puffed himself up slightly and announced his presence.
“Ensign Eero Pidkadeet reporting for duty”, he said cheerfully, the fleshy outer corners of his beak curling ever so slightly upward into the closest thing to a human smile his avian anatomy allowed. “It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” The youthful avian awaited his CO’s response with bright, eager eyes.
