As Melanie went to her new office as the new Chief of Security, she wanted to go and have a meeting with her Junior officer, Scott Gallahan. While she was not up to speed with being the new Security Chief, she wanted to know how to run things. Although, she know’s some security. But how she’ll run her department will be a little different then the previous Security Chief.

She then chimed for Mr. Gallahan to meet her in her office. =^= Ensign Gallahan please come to my office =^= she paged the young ensign.

Gallahan answered as soon as he got the call =/\= Acknowledged, Ma’am. I’m on my way =/\= He set off for the Security Office post-haste.
He was told told expect a new boss, but he knew nothing about them. He walked quickly, thinking ahead for the first encounter with his new department head ‘Good first impressions’ he told himself, almost as if he was trying to manifest these thoughts ‘Be calm, be confident, be you’. He hated the need he felt to give himself these pep-talks, but he found that the did help.

He found himself at the Security Office door. He paused before pressing the chime. He took a big, deep breath in and let it out slow. He checked his hair, tugged his tunic top into a correct position and pressed the door chime…

Melanie heard the chime and set down her pad and stood up “Enter!” Came a voice through the door. She finally got to meet her junior officers.

Hall, Chief of Security

Gallahan entered the office and stood to attention. “Ensign Scott Gallahan, reporting as ordered, Ma’am.”

“Please sit down Ensign. I hear you are under my command in Security? Yes?” She asked.

CoS Hall

“Thank you, Ma’am.” Buckingham sat down and did his best to look confident and comfortable. “That’s right, ma’am.”

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Interesting. Since I’m new to the department I presume you’ll help me out?” She asked.

CoS Hall

“Of course, ma’am” He said. “As far as I’m concerned, we are a Team after all.” He said earnestly.

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Alright. Is there anything I should know?” She asked.

CoS Hall

“To be quite honest, Ma’am, I am quite new to the ship and didn’t have much a chance to interact with your predecessor. I have been doing my best keep things running smoothly and to get involved with the security operations we have, but I am looking forward to working with you to move forward in a more structured way.”

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Good Ensign. I am looking forward to working with you as well.” She said.

CoS Hall

“Thank you, Ma’am” He said. “I don’t mean to sounds bold, Ma’am. But please can I encourage regular feedback on performance.” He gulped slightly as he made the request. “Personal development is… very important to me.”

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Of course Ensign. I’m going to use all feedback on performance on all my junior officers.” She said to him.

CoS Hall

“Thank you, Ma’am” He said, relieved that the Chief was not upset at his request making. “I appreciate it”

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“No problem Ensign. Is there anything else I need to know or did we cover everything?” She asked.

CoS Hall

“I think we have covered everything, Ma’am. Aside from the on-going mission to assist the Empress the last month or so has been routine. ” He replied.

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Empress? Last month or so has been routine? What does that mean?” She asked.

CoS Hall

“Sorry Ma’am, I assumed you’d been briefed already.” He said nervously. “The Chimera has been tasked to respond to a distress call from an civilian Passenger Liner - the Empress - in the Ceti-Gamma system. An engine issues has disabled the Vessel. Due to the high amounts of Radiation the Empress is in danger of running into natural Fireworks and other space debris. The Liner company says it had dispatched another ship to collect the passengers and it’s reported that there are two other vessels on the way, but we are the closest that can be of any use.”
He paused a moment to think if he had forgotten anything.
“Oh, and we have been advised that the passengers and crew of the Empress are all Female, Ma’am”.
Scott stood with his hand rested behind his back and tried to mask a nervous gulp. He was feeling anxious, in case he synopsis of the on-going mission was unsatisfactory.

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Interesting. So the Empress are all female and we are to retrieve them? Very interesting. Alright uh keep me updated and posted with our current situation.” She said.

CoS Hall

“Certainly, Ma’am” Gallahan nodded. “Will there be anything else?” He asked politely, as he felt ready to excuse himself and continue with the mission prep.
