Kevasi walked out of Beta Sickbay. She went over to one of the pannels and reached up and placed her hand against the glass portion of the panne, which lit up under her touch. =^= Computer. Colonel Krin Lardel.=^=
Dr. (Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMO=/\= Colonel Lardel is in the Commander Air Group office. LCARS activated to show the way. =/\= the computer responded and band of pale green light appeared on the wall.
Kevasi nodded and followed the green lights. She muttered softly to her self. “Thank you..” Though to who she had spoken to would remain a mystery.
It took a few minutes to get there, but the light guided her to a flight of stairs in a narrow passageway. At the top was a door which slid open at her approach.
The office was unlike any standard Fleet office. The door opened in the middle of the room. On the left side were three rows of six seats, all in front of a podium which stood in front of a currently blank display screen. Directly in front of her on the far back wall was a table with an old-style coffee pot and containers of sugar, creamer, and the like. On the wall and just above the coffee pot was a replicator. Above that was hung the Flag of the Federation Marines, and just below that a white flag with squadron crest emblazoned on it. To the right was a desk sitting next to a window. Out the window could be seen main flight deck of the Chimera. In front of the desk were two chairs, and seated behind the desk was a Zakdorn male in a flight suit, looking at a PaDD. He looked up and said “Come. What can I do for you…” and he gazed at her collar, “… Lieutenant Junior Grade?”
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi stepped into the room and gave it a curious look around. She then continued to walk towards the desk and the Colonel. As she walked she spoke. “Good evening, Colonel. I am Dr. Kevasi Tulbrad. I came to report on the physical conducted to Major Shinzo Honda. As well as to inquire a few things if you have the time.” Her voice had a slight edge to it. Though her tone was one of respect and politeness. Her face didn’t betray what she might have felt as she kept it set in a neutral expression.
Dr. (Lt.J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOLardel gestured to a chair and said “Sure thing, Doc. Have a seat. Would you like some coffee? Or something else?” as he spoke he tapped the desk interface and the window overlooking the flight deck went opaque white. Lardel stood up and moved to the coffee pot and poured a cup for himself. “Best coffee on the ship, if I do say so myself.”
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi nodded and took a seat. “I would love a cup Sir.” She said and offered a pleasant smile. She took a breath and then placed the PADD on his desk.
He nodded and filled a sev9nd cup, walking them back to the desk and handing one to her.
The took the cup when handed to her, took a sip and then nodded. “That indeed is good coffee. I know your time is valuable, so I will get to the brass tax if you don’t mind.”
“I’d like it no other way, Doc. Let’s hear it.” Lardel said flatly.
She sat the cup down on the desk and took a steadying breath. “As far as it goes, Major Shinzo is a little shaky at the moment, but all and all he does seem to be doing better both mentally and physically. Upon examination his reflex, balance, and motor control are all where they should be. He seems to be detoxing well, but it is rather to early to tell. He has been medicated for the side effects and symptoms of the detox. Physically he is in good condition. However he has taken the whole of the situation hard. My specialty is physical medicine, and I am not a psychological professional. However I have picked up a few things here and there. He is mostly afraid that his time in the marines is coming to a close with this incident. Given the circumstances, I can understand his concerns. However I do not believe that would be a wise course of action. I understand you know him better than I do Colonel. I trust your decision, but I would like to ask what are you planning to do? I would implore on the fact that no one was harmed in these incidents, and I would go out to say, that he had built up stress and tension that ended up causing these incidents. With a well curated plan, and some support I believe that he would be able to come back better than he ever was. I know you have your squadron and unit to think about. I understand you have to look out for the best for everyone. The marines have been his life, as I am sure could be said for most everyone. I would venture that we both know if he is removed from the CAG, put on desk duty, or even was expelled that would be a waste of a talented officer and a good man.” She paused for a minute to recollect her thoughts and listen to what Colonel Lardel had to say.
Dr. (Lt.J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOLardel took a breath and exhaled slowly before speaking. “I hear what you are saying, Doc. And I agree with you. The Major is a damn good pilot, and a better Marine I would be hard pressed to name… up until this fiasco, that is. Now honestly, what I would normally do in a situation like this is send him to the Counselor. But I xan’t do that here, Doc… because the Counselor is part of the problem. Not that I think she is responsible for this, mind you… I just think that she isn’t set up to succeed in dealing with Marines. And that throws a wrench in everything… because until I know he can be trusted with a fighter, I can’t let him get inside a cockpit. And if he can’t fly… he can’t stay here. Thoughts?” and he took a drink of coffee.
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi nodded and took a couple of swigs from her own mug. “Yes, it seems this matter is a point of personal issue of sorts. It seems that there is something that unidentifiable to him that makes him dislike the Counselor Naisyr. He told me he had tried to avoid her, and felt like he was being nagged by her during the party. Which lead to increased drinking. The incident after, with him and her in her office is more of a delicate matter. In his recount, he had went there to apologize to her and move past the whole thing. It seems all was going well, at least in the account I was told. Shinzo was opening up and talking to her about things he had never told anyone… that’s when problems had risen it seems. He felt that during this time… she was dismissive, and he felt that she felt… yes I know how that sounds… but this is the root of the issue. That she didn’t care, that he was being talked down to. He truly felt that he was a bother to her… but when he had opened up old wounds, and then felt like that didn’t matter that his pain was being dismissed? It caused the snap that was seen. That’s when the glass broke, and I think he kind of woke up or sobered up completely and fully then. ” Kevasi sighed softly. “The complete truth I don’t know. I haven’t spent much time with both I don’t think that Counselor Naisyr truly felt that way, I think it was a perception that ended up leading into a misconception that led to these events. The blessing is that no one was seriously hurt as stress, and pain from old wounds caused a break.” She looked thoughtful, for a long minute. “I can’t tell you what to do, nor would I want to. My suggestion? I would think of a suspension for a month. Pending investigation and rehabilitation. Provided the Major agrees to not drink anymore, at all. That’s what I would ask, I plan on trying to continue to treat him as long as he remains here. If you give me a month, I will see if we can work to close that gap, then we revisit the issue with the Counselor. If he is able to move past that would you trust him with a fighter?”
Dr. (Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOLardel thought for a moment… and then another. Finally, he took a deep breath and said “I honestly do not know, Doc. He really screwed up. But… I’ll tell ya what I will do. Month suspension, done. No flying. BUT… he is gonna work traffic control. For perspective, that is akin to making you the driver of an ambulance and not letting you treat patients. That will serve as his penalty for his dereliction of duty and conduct unbecoming. In that time, you work with him and get him to a place that I can give him a full fitness review. He passes, he flies. He doesn’t, he’s gone. Fair enough?”
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi nodded. “I know. I can understand. He may not be happy with it, but if it saves his career I will do my best. Thank you Colonel. I understand.” She gave him a warm smile. “Thank you, really. I know you’re also going out on a limb to trust me.” She looked thoughtful for a minute.
“I want everyone on this ship, both Starfleet and the Marines to be in top condition. I had heard you also have medical personnel here. I have a few things I would ask… I’ve learned more clinical things, I would love to get the chance to have a joint training between the two if you do have medical personnel. The other thing is, I know that it will likely come a time that I will need to know how to better defend myself. I was wanting to ask for your permission to sit in on some of your CQC training sessions, as well as maybe some of the phaser and rifle trainings. I would like to learn more than just what I know… I studied Aikido as a child. Which will do well… but I would want to learn more to be effective should the need arise. If you don’t want me there I understand.” Her smile turned a little sad but she looked up to him. “You have already given me much. I don’t want to be greedy, but I do feel that we should always be prepared for the worst situation and pray for the best… not that I am a religious woman…” She thought a moment and chuckled. “I believe it was a philosopher from Earth that once said to prepare for peace, is to prepare for war.”
Dr. (Lt.J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOLardel smiled slightly. ” Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus. Ancient Earth. Late Roman Empire. From his tract Dē Rē Mīlitārī. Interesting side note, the actual phrasing is ‘Igitur quī dēsīderat pācem, præparet bellum’Therefore let him who desires peace prepare for war’. There was another philosopher form earth, Sun Tzu, who said ‘In war, prepare for peace; in peace, prepare for war.’ Good advice. Keeps you from being caught with your proverbial pants down.” and he laughed. “To your first part, we do have medical personnel. Corpsmen. They are Star Fleet personnel who have volunteered to support Marines. They have specialized training and gear to deal with our mission parameters; and I’ll send your request to them. Our Corpsmen are specialized in SAR operations… Search and Rescue, specifically the crews of downed craft. Now, just so you know… they are all enlisted personnel; but don’t let that determine how you deal with them. Most of our Docs have years of combat experience, and their medicine may differ from yours a bit… so be ready for that.” and he chuckled. “Corpsmen aren’t known for bedside manner, is what I’m sayin’.” and he laughed again.
Kevasi chuckled softly though she looked impressed. She gave a nod. “I could remember only part, though I could not recall who. Thank you for that enlightenment Colonel. Indeed, we must do our best to be prepared.” She listened more and nodded. “That is good to know. I would have thought you were all Corpsmen… maybe that is something from the days of old forgive the stray thought. I suppose it came from days of old where one of the Earth governments had a branch of their military be the Marine Corps…” She waves it off. “Good to know either way, Well when you are facing some of the worst pains in your life, from lead, laser, phaser… or whatever foreign object may be passing or impacting the body usually never feels particularly good I imagine. One must be as tough as their patients to be able to do ones job.” She chuckled softly. “The tougher your patient, usually the tougher you have to be…”
“To the prospect of you joining us for training? Well, you would probably get better training from the grunts than from us; but we can teach you some things for sure. Reach out to Gunnery Sergeant D’Lij. He can set it up. But keep in mind Marines train a lot differently than you may be used to, so be ready to be sore.”
Lardel, CAG
“I understand that Colonel, I will reach out to him in time. I have no doubt that it will be a good workout and will leave me sore for a while. So long as I am still able to maintain and complete my duties as a Starfleet Officer then you will not hear me complaining.” She gave him a warm smile, picked up her mug once more and drained down the coffee. “I apologize Colonel. I have something I must attend to. I thank you for your time. If you desire a progress report or need something I am always at the call of a comm.” She said giving him a smile.
Lt. Cmdr. Solomon Kane, XOLardel stood up and held out his hand. “A pleasure Doc. And please do keep me in the loop with regards to the Major. Despite anything else, he is my friend. I want him better.”
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi stood after him she reached out and gripped his hand with a firm shake giving a nod she gave a warm smile though her face showed her seriousness. “Thank you Colonel. I understand. Its hard to see our friends go through hard times. We’ll do our best to get him into tip top shape.” She chuckled softly. “I believe in him.”
Dr.(Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMO“Hope so, Doc. He’s gonna need that support.” Lardel said. He released her hand and said “Let me know what I can do. And there is always coffee here if you like. See ya around, Doc.’ and he took his seat and began reading.
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi nodded. “I may have to come have a cup every so often when you have moments for progress reports.” She said before giving a final warm smile. “I hope the rest of your day remains plesant Colonel.” She said before she turned and headded out of the CAG office.
