Shinzo had been placed on Quarters and not allowed to leave. He took this time to try to better himself and get back in touch with his real self. He started by reading books on war and tactics and exercising regularly to maintain himself. He gave all of his alcohol to Doc and has been drinking water and tea nonstop in order to detoxify his system.
He was now reading a book on Napolean tactics and warfare while sitting on his couch.Shinzo “Oni” Honda
A female figure was seen walking about the corridors of the deck. She had a PADD in her hand as she frowned looking through both records and the ship map. After a little bit she made her way to a door. Reaching up she pressed the call button next to the door, at least giving him the chance to get decent.
She put the PADD away as she waited.
Dr. (Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOHe was still reading and was wearing red sweat pants and a white t-shirt, both with the Marine Corp symbol on them. Hearing the door chime he put the book down. “Enter!” Came a booming voice but it was not meant to be mean, he just wanted to make sure the other person would here him. He wondered whom it could be.
Shinzo Honda
Kevasi’s hand shifted up to the button to open the door and with a soft press, the door slid away and the woman stepped into the room. She stood at 5‘7, her firey red hair pulled back into a braided bun. She lets the door close behind her. “Good evening. I am Dr. Tulbrad. The ship’s new chief medical officer. I was coming to follow up and see how you were doing. I read some reports, however nothing is the same as a first hand accounts. That and doing my duty for a medical checkup to make sure your recovery is going as well as planned.” She said somewhat gruffly, this was a business call and she was about the business.
Dr. (Lt.J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMO“Well. Pleased to meet you doctor. I am Shinzo Honda with the Marines. I am doing ok now. My hand throbs and I am kind of shaky from detoxing from booze. I believe me being cold and clammy and sweaty has something to do with that as well. But I was just reading and covered up with a blanket with water when you came in.” He walked towards her and held out his injured hand for her to look at. “Please make yourself at home.”
Major Shinzo “Oni” Honda
Kevasi nodded and gently took his hand. She gently touched around the wound her dark black eyes swivviling to her fingers and his face guaging his reactions. “How does it feel? What stabbed through you?” She asked with a little gentleness.
He really didn’t flinch but she knew it hurt him. “Nothing stabbed me doctor. I squeezed a glass so hard that it shattered in my hand and the glass from it cut my hand.”
After a few moments later she let go of his hand and pulls a tricoder off of a holister on her hip. She then uses it to scan his hand. “Detoxing can be difficult. Though we have something that can help with it if you need some help.”
Dr.(Lt. J.G.) Kevasi TulbradNodding while she took care of him. “Like what doctor? I would say that I put myself in this position and want to make myself suffer because of the hurt I caused my fellow Marines and to myself…” He let out a long sigh....”But I welcome any assistance to overcome this sooner to be of use again and to start focusing more on healing than not drinking or throwing up.”
Major Shinzo “Oni” Honda
Kevasi looked thoughtful for a moment. She then nodded. “I believe I have something that may help. Diazepam and Valproate. The Diazepam should help curb the withdrawal needs, and help with the shakes, while the Valproate should help stabilize any mood swings. Though be warned, it will be dangerous to your health if you do drink with the medication.” She finishes the scans on his hand and nods. “I assume that you would want to let that heal naturally?” She asked looking at him.
Dr. (Lt.J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMO“Thank you doctor. I would like to allow it to heal naturally. I will not be going back to active flying status any time soon, even if I make through my detox, but this will help me greatly to get back to my normal self and help around the flightline if need be. Thank you very much and I will not drink. I promise. I gave away all of my liquor…even the ones I have hidden.” He smiled at that. “Now it is just a steady supply of coffee and water and juice. Again, I thank you for your help.”
Major Shinzo Honda
At that moment the comms activated. =/\= Hannibal to Oni. When you have decided to sober up enough to walk in a straight line, report to sickbay for a full physical. I’ll contact the CMO and tell them you are coming. Do not reply, Major. Just do what you’re told. =/\= The anger in his voice was easy to read, but to those that knew Lardel it was the sheer disappointment that was paramount.
Lardel, CAG
Kevasi nodded and gave a small smile. When she heard the comm her smile grew. She didnt say anything for a moment, long enough for the transmission to be over and so that when she did speak it wouldnt be on the comms. “Well… I guess I kind of beat the Colonel. Though this isnt a full physical… I still expect you to come by sickbay whenever you feel ready. Or want that prescription. After all that did sound like an order” She put her tricoder away a small smirk still playing to her lips.
Dr.(Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOOni held his head down in shame. He let the entire team down and it would be a monumental task to make up for it, if it ever could. Letting out a long sigh and looking back up to the doctor. “Might as well go now doctor. No time like the present. I’ll follow you.”
Major Shinzo Honda
Kevasi chuckled, but then nodded. “Very well. I figured that it would have been better if I didnt say anything lest it be thought you were bedding a bonny.” She turned on her heel and headded towards the door. “I may beed a little guidance. I’m still new to the ship.”
Dr.(Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOSmiling. “I wish I was but I will show you the way.” Once in the Sickbay Shinzo sat down on the biobed. Looking up at the doctor. “Thanks again.”
Major Shinzo Honda
Kevasi shook her head and followed after him. “Ah what would the Colonel think. Thank you Major.” She had said in a tone that indicated that she was trying to tease him, and lighten the mood up a little. She nodded and looked at the screen on the biobed, she read the readings on it and pulled her PADD out and pulled up his medical file. Quietly she read the file. “Just please give me a moment to review your medical history.” She said softly.
Dr. (Lt.J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOBump
“I wish I had somebody to not only bed but to talk to and just hold or to hold me sometimes. I have always and I mean always put the Marines first. Maybe it is a sign that I need to review my priorities. You know of any female that wants a broken Marine?” He smiled to her.
The medical history will include multiple fractures, cuts, scars, gun shots, etc.. but he is in fine health and shape.
Major Shinzo Honda
Kevasi looks thoughtful for a moment. “Well. I do know someone. The first thing may be a bit off. But if she got to know that Marine better… I believe that she could have an amicable relationship. Maybe more.” She said as she placed a hand on his shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. “I don’t think she would see that Marine as someone who is broken. However sees someone who’s edge had been put to the grind stone and ground flat, instead of having the grindstone hone that edge. With the proper direction, I believe we can alter that angle.” She gave a small chuckle and pulled her tricoder off of her hip. “I’m going to start those scans Major. I believe while that’s going on. It would be a good time to start the second thing would it not?” She asked him, her tone of voice carried light hints of teasing, however it also carried a note that she cared, deeply.
Dr. (Lt. J.G) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOHE smiled up at her. “Thank you so much for everything that you have been doing for me. I know it is your job, but you make it seem like it is not and that is very special to me.” While she scanned him he thought for moment. First thinking about the squeeze on his shoulder, the nice reassuring voice and then he couldn’t remember what the second thing was he was supposed to think about. Some people told him he was as clueless as Ron Weasley from the old Harry Potter books when it came to the opposite sex. Letting out a long heave sigh; “I think my time in the Marines is over. Well, being an Aviator is over and I cannot go back to Special Forces. They will not give me commander or second command of a Battalion. My guess is if they do not out right send me packing, then I am heading for a desk job.” He looked up at her. “Which means I am finished.”
Major Shinzo Honda
Kevasi gave him a small sigh and then took in a breath. She knew she had her work cut out for her, though she thought it was a little endearing, so she found it somewhat cute. Her tone of voice grew gentler. She set the tricoder aside and grabbed a small instrument and had his legs dangle off of the bed, knees bent. She gently struck his knee testing the reflexes, just going through with a very routine and standard full body physical. “It is my job yes, but I love what I do… so it doesn’t really feel like I’m doing a job. I enjoy helping people and I try to do my best. That being said, I understand how you feel however being in the field isn’t everything. I understand that it means a lot to you Major. I understand that feeling. I will have a word with the Colonel after this is over. I think that while this happened, it wasn’t intentional… with the proper care, and treatment, and a few good words, would have you back in the cockpit at the least. If anything your years of military and tactical knowledge are extremely valuable. I know you don’t want desk duty… but all in all it isn’t the worst thing to have happened.” She said as she set the tool aside and continued on with her inspection. “Whatever happens Major, was meant to be. But I don’t think that you would be set aside so easily. Tell me if you don’t mind a little more about yourself, and what caused this? What happened? I ask because I care, and I want to help get to the bottom of it.”
Dr. (Lt. J.G.) Kevasi Tulbrad, CMOHe listened to her and his bottom part of his legs were in time with the reflex exercises she was doing. “Thank you Doctor.” Letting out another long sigh. “I have no problem in telling you about me and what happened. Anything you ever want to know and I mean anything, and I will tell you. It started out at the party for Marines and Fleet personnel. The counselor was getting on my nerves. That has never happened to me before. I mean letting someone get to me like that. I don’t know if it was her annoying voice or the way she look or the way she acted or all of it combined. So I started drinking a few beers and was avoiding her while talking to other people. But she just kept up with her incessive nagging. Usually I only have one or two beers when in social situations so I do not do anything I would regret and the fact that I am on call 24/7 and an emergency can happen at any time.....But she really got to me and I started drinking even more and from what others told me because I couldn’t remember, I threatened her and some Fleet Lieutenant. The Colonel stopped it and sent me back to my quarters.”
Gently she continued to have him do tests for the physical. All the while she gave soft sounds of affirmation trying to show that she intently listened to him, but didn’t want to interrupt his story. Towards the end of the section, she has him conduct a sit and reach test, testing his flexibility and bending capabilities. After he was done she nodded. “I see, but I don’t think that is all please do continue Major.” She said softly.
Pausing incase she wanted to know more. “So I felt bad at what happened that night and decided to go and see her in her office to apologize and to maybe get some help. I thought that if she could get under my skin like that, then how effective would I be in the cockpit or leading my Marines. Thinking that all of the stress from the previous years that I suppressed, were finally catching up to me, I decided to take action. Well, I told her how I got my nickname of Oni and my first assignments in the Special Forces and what I did then. But she seemed to not care and it started to anger me, you know. So we yelled it out for a bit and then calmed down. I was telling her things very personal and opening up. Something that I have not done in 18 years of service in the Corps. She got me a glass of orange juice and we talked some more and after she refilled it and handed it back to me she then talked down to me or what I perceived as such and then dismissed everything like I was a chore or bother to her. Her extremely nonchalant way she was dismissing myself and my pain hurt so much that I got angry and just broke the glass of orange juice right in my hand by my shear grip and I left and went back to my quarters and that’s when I met you the next day.” Chuckling while looking down. “You know that was when I really sobered up. I wasn’t literally drunk and haven’t drank, but when I realized my life was now complete sh!t.”
Kevasi nodded some more, having him stick out his arms and testing his balance while she listened. She had conducted all of her tests by the time he got done with this part of his story. She had him sit back down while she took a seat on a chair across from him, still making soft confirmation noises and listening while she input his medical data. “That sounds… very tough. It is never good to hold things in… however sometimes… most times we feel like we must. I know you have been through a lot and there must be many joys, and aggravations within your time with the Marines. You opened up yourself, which I am sure was hard enough to do… and then felt like you were being dismissed? I don’t think anyone wouldn’t be angry in that situation. We both agree that it could have been handled better… but you didn’t hurt anyone. You were drunk and felt stressed, pressured, and aggravated and then were left no quarter from your aggravation. It ended up that you were trying to be the bigger man, apologize and it felt like you were not wanted… I would think that if the perceived conditions were true… then you have every right to be angry. I have not been around the Councilor much… so I can’t say on whether or not that is the truth. Though I would like to believe that it isn’t. Maybe it is how she shows her politeness… I know that some don’t like thanks or praise and will try to turn it down. But as I was not in the room with you Major I can only speculate… nor do I have a degree within neurological science. But I will be happy to try and help you as best I can.
Looking back up at her into her eyes. “But after all of that. All of the pain, heartache and the yelling by the Colonel, the counselor, by, IRIS and the look of shear disappointment in their eyes, that I let them all down…It didn’t hurt as much as when I looked into the mirror after that and realized that I left myself down. I didn’t smile or laugh after that. Not one bit. Not until you showed up.” That’s where he left it hanging while looking at her straight into her eyes.
Major Shinzo Honda
Kevasi gave him a sweet smile, met his gaze and stood up. She walked over to him and gently placed her lips on his forehead. After a minute she pulled him into a hug. “I understand Major. I believe that there is a way out of this… if we handle it very carefully. Now you are in excellent physical conditions… the worst of the withdrawals probably have not kicked in yet. But I can help with that. I want to help you. I want to see you beat the odds and come back stronger and better than ever. If you want to talk and get anything off of your chest my office will always be open.” She said as after a long minute or two she drew back and held him at arms legnth if allowed, and looked him in the eye.
