Ella had been tactical in her meet and greets with the other department heads leaving the CAG or Commander Air Group to last. Putting it of ill after hours when she hoped most of the flight group had dispersed for the evening. There always seemed to be a stigma between Security and ships attached support arms such as Marines and Pilots but she hoped for her sanity this ship wasnt one of those who defined someone by the colour on thker uniform. She’d enjoyed getting to know each of the people she’d already spoken to and other than word of mouth that the last Security officer had a less than rocky relationship with the CAG she didn’t see any reason why this couldn’t go as successful.Deck 11 was thankfully quiet, the flight ops was just up ahead and she could see a handful of officers going about thier duties. She’d figured she would wonder around and wait for someone to garner her attention.

A pair of Marine aviators in flight suits walked past her, helmets in hand, and one elbowed the other and tried to stifle a somewhat lecherous grin. The other rolled his eyes and stopped short. “Put your tongue back in your mouth and go do pre-flight, idiot.” The other chuckled and kept walking, yelling over his shoulder “You’re married, Dozer… remember?” and laughed as he turned and went through a hatch onto the flight deck. ‘Dozer sighed heavily and then turned to look at Ella. “What you need, Fleet?” he asked flatly. It was obvious that the Marine didn’t deal with the Chimera crew much.
Dozer, Marine Aviator
‘Ah so he’s one of those’ She thought holding back any snippy remarks and chose to be above it all. As to the other man’s actions she was used to it, Elasians were pretty and in human terms beautiful so having men and even woman gawk at herwas normal, compared to Elasian standard she was average. The comment about being married made her chuckle internally too, humans seemed so possessive over love and would declare thier intent to only one other during thier life, though some didn’t. As for Elasians? They were a bit more… Liberal. “Actually I was looking for Major Lardel, I belive you call him Hannibal.” She stated simply flashing him one of her smiles.

The Marine seemed immune to her smile, but his tone wasn’t aggressive. “We do… you don’t. Call signs are for Aviators and Flight crew, Fleet. Consider it unofficial protocol. The Major is in his office. Turn around, down the passage, flight of stairs to the right. Top of the stairs, first door on the right. It’s usually open, but I’d knock first before walking in. And you’re in luck. No one has screwed up today, so he seems to be in a good mood… I think, anyway. Hard to tell with Zakdorns.” He looked down the passage after his partner, then back to Ella. “You good? I got flight prep to get done before Jabberjaw screws it up.”
Dozer, Marine Aviator
“Oh no, you go have fun in your shuttles.” She winked before turning away with a knowing smile on her lips. So maybe she did like to bite sometimes.
Following the direction, the Marine Aviator had given her, ‘down the passage, flight of stairs to the right. Top of the stairs, first door on the right.’ She found herself standing outside the door which was correctly labelled CAGs Office” She figured that Dozer’s advice was worth taking note and ‘knocked’ by pressing the door chime displayed on the doors control unit of to its right. She waited patiently, she had all the time in the world and there was no one who would ruin her good mood not even a Zakdorn.

The office beyond the open door was unique in that it had a window on the right hand side that looked out into another part of the ship… that part being, of course, the flight deck. The desk was set perpendicular to the window so the owner of said desk could look to their left and see out. On the center of the wall facing the door was hung a Marine Corps flag. Below it was a display screen, and facing the screen were about half a dozen chairs: obviously where wing leaders received their briefings and plans were made.
Everything about the room screamed authority, she noted the window which looked out over what she assumed was where all the fighters where stored and recognised the design to something an Elasian Queen might have over her domain. She couldn’t imagine working knowing that there was always someone watching your every move, even if perhaps it wasn’t always the case. The Marine Corp flag only solidified the personification of authority, it was a symbol in her opinion of discipline and control which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing but always reminded her to much of what home was like, partly the reason she never joined the Marines in the first place despite having been told it would suit her.
Seated at the desk was a short, stocky figure with close cut dark red hair was looking at his deck display when the pressed chime prompted him to say “In.” and when he looked up the trademark skin folds were clearly evident. Most un-trademark like, however, was the long scar that ran diagonal across his face; from the center of his forehead, across his right eye, and into his right cheek.
Ella recognised the man sitting behind the desk, not personally but from the pictures she had seen that and his skin folds were pretty hard to miss. She’d wondered how a Zakdorn become to join the Marines from her experience they were mostly self-assured and overconfident. Their talents were usually their tactful minds not their fighting ability which she associated with the Marines. Clearly however she was wrong since the man in front of him was most certainly a Marine and sported a questionable scar.
His black eyes locked onto the figure of the Fleet officer and he said in a deliberate and clipped fashion “Lieutenant Junior Grade… what can I do for you?”
Maj. Lardel, CAG
“Actually Major” She returned keeping her voice light and airy, “Its more what I can do for you, I understand traditionally that Marines and Starfleet don’t like to get along I’ve already experienced that from the two minutes I’ve been down here but I don’t see why that has to be the case here. As a Zakdorn surely even you must see the benefits of us getting along instead of just occupying the same space, I am not asking we become friends but I would like a level of respect and professionalism form your pilots.” She held up her hand, “I understand respect and trust is earned and I hope that me and my department can provide that to you if you give us the opportunity, sir.” Ella despite internally screaming at herself, her heart pounding from the anxiety of being where she was kept a calm and outwardly positive demeanour, she’d have time to change her trousers later but right not she had to wear her big girl pants.

The black eyes never blinked, never left hers. There was a long pause before anything happened. And when that happened, it happened very slowly.
First, the Major leeeeaaaned back in his chair, and slowly dropped his arms onto the arm rests. Next he stared at her with a look that seemed to be appraising her… and while not finding that assessment negative, it certainly wasn’t positive. Then, his head cocked slightly to the side and his eyes finally blinked… once. And that too was slow, as if he was calming himself. Then, after an agonizing silence, the Major simply said…
“And… um… who are you, exactly?”
Lardel, CAG
