She shook her head and held a hand up to wave off the apology. “No, you are correct. I don’t have the pheromone abilities that the full females of my species have. But many don’t know that. Either because they aren’t aware that half bloods can’t, or they aren’t aware I ‘am’ a half blood. But either way, many see a female Orion and assume that whatever happens, it’s out of their control. It can sometimes cause animosity in a lot of situations. I have to remember that whether it’s fear, or ignorance, the reason for the snapped comment or shunned response isn’t really personal. It’s merely based on their life experiences to that point. And you can’t blame someone for reacting a certain way without full knowledge, can you?”
It was hard, sometimes, but with her own Department Head being Orion, she imagined it would be easier. Surely they wouldn’t think she was controlling him.
Angelina
Security“That can be a difficult situation when others assume things about you without actually knowing you.” Revna had encountered that on a professional level many many times. “Well I think you will find, that here on Atlantis, people are not so quick to judge.” Too many on this ship and been judged wrongly and they found a place here. “Atlantis is a good place to find your way. Now I know Lt. Cmdr Mardusk, have you meet him yet? I doubt anyone would accuse him of being controlled by anyone.” His mother was also an admiral so Revna was sure he had a different perspective about Orion women. And if anyone was using pheromones on Mardusk, it was Lera. “It takes a lot of self control to face that kind of adversarial trail over and over again. I doubt you need it, but I am happy to lend my support or assistance if anyone is particularly difficult. I don’t think you will find that to be a problem in your department.”
“So Lt. what do you hope to gain out of your time here on Atlantis?”
Lt. Edman, CounselorAngelina shook her head. “No, I haven’t met him yet. And except for his name, and knowing he is Orion, I haven’t looked at his bio, yet, either. I prefer not to be too biased before meeting Department Heads because it colors how I approach them. So I’m just gonna wait and see.” She laughed. “So no telling me about him. But it’s nice to know he’s not a push over. I know a few Orion males in the Fleet who seem to be push overs, despite their being any full blood women to control them. Wouldn’t it make more sense to exert yourself and put yourself in a more dominant role when you were able? Why would someone want to seem subservient when they don’t have to?” It was mostly rhetorical, but made no sense to Angelina either way.

SecurityRevna had to work Really hard at stopping herself from laughing and keeping her expression neutral. Mardusk was NOT the typical Orion male....and ‘subservient was NOT a word that would describe the COS. She wanted to be a fly on the wall when Markeson met the imposing figure of Mardusk, and see how this worked out. She had a feeling that the two of them would make an impressive security team, if things worked out smoothly, in the end. “I will certainly not taint your first impression of him. I think you will both get a long fine though. And I have no idea why someone would want to do that. Not when they have a choice anyway. So what do you hope to get out of your time here on Atlantis?”
Lt. Edman, CounselorShe saw the outline of a smile turning to … something. She guessed laughter. Perhaps she had a skewed way of looking at looking at things sometimes, but she couldn’t help it. Letting it go because Revna did, she smiled. “I’m sure we will, too. Least, I hope so. As to what I want to get out of this? Real experience. I had it pretty easy on my last assignment and I need to get better at things. Close combat fighting is one. And scenario trainings. The few away missions we had were ‘walk in the park’ kind. Carried a phaser nearly my whole time there and never had to draw it once. And only had to break up one scuffle in the gym one evening. That was about the sum total of my training. I made JG because I was great with the weapons, maintained the training logs, and saw to maintenance on security things that had been overlooked for so long cause of lack of use. I am hoping, here, that I can get folks that ‘want’ to train me and I want to push my career further. Maybe leave here in a couple years with the opportunity to be a Department Head, myself.”

SecurityRevna nodded, Markeson had a clear head on her shoulders, at least while she was calm. She had no way of knowing about stressful situations yet. She knew what she wanted, knew her weaknesses and how to deal with potential personal problems. “Alright, Lt. Last thing. Any skeletons in your closet you need to tell me about that would affect you personally or professionally? Before I find them in your record?” Revna always thought it was better if the person choose to tell her themselves. Not that she expected trust in her, but to trust themselves to allow the opportunity to be forthright so those skeletons wouldn’t affect their careers later on.
Lt. Edman, Counselor
Angelina thought for a moment. “Not that I can think of. I mean, unless you want to know I turn into a huge scaredy cat if I see spiders. Another reason for space. Rarely a chance of seeing one up here. At least, so far,” she laughed lightly. “Honestly I can’t think of anything that would be in my record that we haven’t discussed or will bite me in the backside later.” She was wracking her brain trying to think of anything, but other than the spiders, nothing came to mind.
Angelina
Security“For me, it’s worms,” Revna shuddes a little. “I grew up on the shores of the sea. We fished a lot, I can’t stand worms. And we used those for bait a lot. Creepy wriggle things and their…” she shudders again. “Well Lt. I think we’re done. If you do think of anything I should be aware of, you know where to find me. I’ll have my report finished in a couple of days.”
Lt. Edman, CounselorAngelina smiled. “I’ve never been fishing. But I don’t think worms bother me. I mean, I doubt I would want to go walking thru a mire of them, but on the face, I don’t mind them.” She laughed. “I promise no holo programs with worm fishing involved when I ask you to join me for some relaxing times. How’s that?” She laughed lightly and shook her head. “Is there anything else I should know about the ship or crew to do my job better? I mean, I know you can’t tell me about individual issues, I wouldn’t expect that cause it doesn’t impact me. But I mean as a whole? Things to be on the lookout for as a security officer.” She wasn’t sure if she was making any sense, but she had to ask.
Angelina
SecurityRevna smiled genuninly, “Sounds good, Lt. And if you have a problem with a spider, let me know, I’ll come take care of it.” Revna sat back, tapping her finger on the arm of her chair. “I would say, first to remember Atlantis is HUGE and there are almost as many civilians on this ship as Federation officers. There are a lot of families on board. So the dynamic is different than what you typically think of when you consider a ship staffed only by federation officers. I’ve only been here a short time, so this is based on what I’ve been told, but I have seen it is true. Atlantis is a place for those looking to find their way. The crew is close knit and everyone has their own story of how they got here. And somehow with what appears a mismatch of personalities, this is one of the most accomplished and formidable crews in the entire fleet.”
Revna’s Psychological Report for Lt. j.g. Angelina Markeson, Security Department
Angelina Markeson is a bright, ambitious young officer. She has a steady head on her shoulders and is aware of how other percieve her and how that may change how she approaches situations. She is actively aware of place in maitaining the safety and security of her crew, ship, and the Federation. She has had limited experience. Her previous postings have been calm and lacking in an opportunity to grow and increase her breadth of knowledge. However this lack of experience, instead of making her complacent and overly sure of herself, has made her eager to learn more and seek out assignments that will improve her skills, not only as a member of the security team but also as a Star Fleet officer over all. Markeson has strong instincts and a very analytical mind, that can often create her to second guess herself. It is my professional opinion that Markeson is fit for duty and should be provided as much varied training opportunities as possible, as the more she is given and the wider the variety of experience the greater her skills and performance will become. “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn-Benjamin Franklin”
Lt. Edman, Counselor
Angelina nodded. “I’ll be sure to call you if I see a spider. Hate to let it out I can’t handle it myself,” she laughed lightly.
As the woman explained the depth and breadth of the makeup of the ship, Angelina was truly impressed. “I can definitely see where a well rounded security makeup is crucial here. It’s not just officers and cadets we deal with, but civilians as well. I’ll be sure to make sure I’m ready for anything that comes up. As to the size,” she smiled. “That works for me. I like to walk, and run, so having more than a dozen decks to do that on will be able to keep me busy on my off time as well. And you meet the most amazing people when you just wander around.” She smiled and was actually looking forward to her nightly walks to see who she could come across.
