Runa started up the rope ladder. She reached up over the railing and suddenly disappeared.“Ooof.” She’d been thrown to the decking as she got back on board the Kingston by a very angry looking redcoat with lots of tassles and baublry on his jacket. Two more of the redcoats picked her up by the arms. “Oh, so the game isn’t over yet, is it?” Runa asked as they marched her back towards the center of the ship. Her clothes were dripping wet and she didn’t really know anything about fighting, pirates or anything else. Unless it was a toddler with a temper tantrum.
Olly had made it half way up the rope when to his left one of the port holes opened and hands grabbed him through, their index fingers over their mouths implying silence. So he did just that and began to listen to the commotion that was going on above them.
The British captain sneered, “Oh the game is over Annie. You’re going to call out for Jack. Your face will be the last he sees.” Runa wanted to laugh because it was SOOO dramatic, but the sword tip pointing at her wasn’t that funny. She didn’t know about Anne Bonnie, but she knew what her ancestors would think of the captain’s command. “No.” was all she said. The look of anger on the captain’s face was so realistic. She really needed to use the holodeck more.
The Redcoat Cpt spat on the deck of the ship. “JACK! We’ve got Anne! Unless you want me to damage every hair on her head, you need to come up here!”
Runa Edman“Damn” He said cursing as silently as possible. They hadn’t seen him climb the rope, no had the known that he and about five of his crew where hiding under the decks. “Do we have some barrels of TNT left? He asked the group.
“One sir” replied the skinniest of the group and his boney fingers rapped the top of the barrel.
He smiled and began taking of his boots. “Take of ya socks, fill them with powder and plant them around the ship we need to create a distraction. Putting his hand into the barrel he poured the powder into his sock, pausing when he noticed the shipmates starring at him.” Hurry up we haven’t got all day!” That seemed to get them going.
After a few minutes they had all filled their socks with powder and planted them with a long fuse system. Olly didn’t even bother saying anything as he lit the fuse and made his way to the top deck. “All that shouting!” He was immediately jabbed sending him to the floor next to Runa. “That was uncalled for.” If he had worked out the fuse length right he had about 3 minutes to get Anne from this ship to the British one.

Runa was watching and listening. There was a whole other deck below her, and she didn’t see any of the redcoats watching the stairs. So either they didn’t know or they had already gotten everyone else. Where was Oliver? He’d been right behind her. She saw a few of the pirate sailors moving silently over to the other ship. While she was trying to figure out what to do next, Oliver came up from below deck, despite being soaked from head to toe, she couldn’t help noticing how good looking he was. His demeanor, was so flippant with the Redcoat Captain she did laugh. That earned her a jab in the back, landing her on her knees next to Oliver. She whispered, “What now, Jack? I can sail a ship, but without a crew and steering wheel, I can’t do much.”

“Well the good Captain here surrenders or we all die” He shrugged looking to Runa and then to the captain, “What do you say Capi-tan, you surrender to me and my crew or we all die and to be honest I think me and Anne here will survive we have a knack for that!” He elbowed Runa as if to say watch this.

Runa didn’t feel like getting jabbed in the back again and bit her smile back and grabbed his elbow and gave it a playful squeeze.
The redcoat Captain was not amused by Jack’s lack of respect to his overly important personage. “Move along Jack. We’ll have you in shackles and a holding cell in a few moments, and this pretty thing…well we’ll figure out something for her.” Runa scoffed and whispered to Oliver, “Were they really like this back then. How disgusting.”
The redcoats laughed and sniggered. The captain nodded, and two officers, one grabbing Anne and the other Jack tried to get them moving.

Getting to his feet his eyes met Runas, “Run!” The ship exploded behind them sending shrapnel flying around them, Olly took Runas hand and ran for the starboard side where the British ship was holding its position “The ropes, we’ll swing across Anne!” He let her hand go only to untie the large ropes and passed one to his companion as another load of explosion ripped through the ship and his men charged from under the ship.

Runa ran holding onto Oliver’s hand. She grabbed the rope and taking a few steps she launched toward the British ship. Once over the deck she let go and dropped, and landed, hard. She had no idea to roll, but did until she slammed into the main mast. She opened her eyes and watched the brilliant explosions taking the Kingston out. “What a shame, it was beautiful ship.” She laid her head back on the deck, watching pieces of the Kingston falling around them. She saw the redcoats trying desperately to get back across. She stayed there on the deck, slightly winded, yelling orders. “Push off boys!” She yelled getting them going removing the grapples and getting out of jumping range. She looked around to see where Oliver landed, “That was spectacular, Jack!”

Olly helped himself up of the floor where the two had landed, several British soldiers were laying injured or bound on the floor. He looked to Runa her eyes bright like diamonds, “I was and so was you!” He smiled at her “I think this might be a good place to pause? Wouldn’t you say?” The science officer really didn’t want it to end but he also didn’t want to binge play every episode in one session.

Runa’s eyes lit up, “Pause? So there is more to this story?” She pushed up into a sitting position looking around. The Brittish ship was heavily damaged, their pirate crew had done a spectacular job of crushing the redcoat sailors and Oliver, or Jack, had a flair for sinking a boat. “Are you sure it won’t sink before we get back?” She was joking of course. She pushed herself to her feet, she grabbed Oliver’s hand again, giving it a squeeze. “I’d really like to come back, with you.”
Runa Edman
He chuckled not one to let go of her hand, though he was heavily conscious that they were and that she seemed content on holding his too. “I would like to come back with you to, you make a very good Anne Bonny” Olly gave her a wry smile he couldn’t think of anything better than spending more time with her, more than he is already doing and he could already hear Sharah goading him from her own little home in space. “So next week?” He said after having realised that neither of them spoke for a while.

“You make a dashing Jack, but really, Oliver, you have to tell me where did you learn to fight like that?” She asked without thinking, because she kept seeing him move across the ship, and well as far as she was concerned, Oliver was Hot. Runa smiled, she had no problem holding onto his hand. Runa lived in the moment and she enjoyed something, she did it, and wasn’t really worried about everyone else. It’s why she never joined Star Fleet, though someone being in Star Fleet was not a problem for her. She was too much of a romantic. She couldn’t possibly fathom not being with someone simply because of ‘regulations.’ “Next week?” she gasped and fluttered her hand at her throat. “Surely you don’t mean that long?” She winked at him. “Next week sounds lovely. And since you, Oliver, will be in my classroom before then, to help all those soon to be aspiring botanists discover those amazing plants you brought us, I’ll see you sooner than a week.” Sometimes, Runa said things she thought a little too much.
Runa Edman
“Well, looks like its a date or maybe two I’m not keeping count I promise,” Ok so maybe he needed some flirting guidance from Sharah because that was positively lame. “I just, years of Drama practice when I was a child, my parents thought it would help me by inspiring my creative mind little did they know it would turn me into a musical Botanist” He laughed bringing up her hand that they were STILL holding together and twirled her around like when taking the lead in Latin ball from dancing. He hadn’t thought too much ahead but if she followed through she would be within very close proximity. All hands brace for impact he thought childishly.
