Oliver still enjoying the new ship vibe everything and everyone was giving off finally made it to the science decks and more prominently the science offices of the ship, stepping into the room he looked around taking a deep breath in. ‘Home’ he thought rubbing his weathered hands together in search of the chief science officer a one Lieutenant Junior Grade Kai Oliver Kingstone, a twenty-five-year-old Human born on mars to two retired Starfleet personnel, one previous assignment to the USS Endeavour and a pet golden retriever called Rylee. To say Olly had friends in high places was an understatement.~Ens. Oliver Loughty.
Kai was actually getting a look to the personnel PaDD when he noticed the man in the office, quietly looking everywhere. From what he could see, the man had a name of Oliver (so funny) and was actually older than him, which felt kinda awkward. Just a couple of minutes ago his ID generalities were already scanned by the intrepid Officer “Can I help, Ensign or you are here, as I suppose, for your check-in?” He smiled at Oliver “Please get a seat! Oh and please avoid touching that box if you may. You would not want to clean the Lab from floor to ceiling!” he indicated the goo.

“Now I have to touch it” joked Oliver at the quick introduction to his new boss before taking a seat opposite him. “I guess you can help by getting my old bones acquainted to my new home and workplace, I’ve heard good things about you, Lieutenant. I won’t get into too many details about how I know or what I know but your work into Subspace alternative Light-Transmitted message via experimental relè was a particularly enjoyable read. I think you and me are going to have some fun. Sir.” Oliver wasn’t your A typical ensign, he was older more experience and far less likely to explode at the first sign of travel, being so relaxed was both a good point and a bad point, it wasn’t that he lacked discipline and respect for his chain of command it was just that he was far to used to it and to old to care.

As he laid down the PaDDs, Kai smiled at the Ensign and took liberty to walk around looking at his degrees and funny experiments he loved to put in show “Ya know, Oliver,” he could not help but giggle “I think that having read your log we have the same idea of each other. It will be fun.”
Then he noticed a little game he crafted as he was still a cadet of the first year “I guess you passed being a cadet since a long time. Anyway, could we talk while getting to the labs? I don’t like formal meetings, if you know what I mean. I already have a position that may suit your abilities for good.” He searched for the Ensign behind him.Lieutenant Jr. grade Kai O. Oliver had already jumped to his feet and was hot on the chiefs heels. “Well ive been to the academy twice actually. Once when I graduated as an enlisted statfighter wing pilot for the Dominion war, not so much science involved just a lot of shooting and then again just recently as an Officer Cadet now Ensign, I decided to go to university before though” He shrugged, “So what do you have planned for me boss?”

“Let’s get to this lab.” He exited his office. Walking the alleys he watched his steps, then the officer himself. Again it was awkward to see someone older taking orders from him “So… I thought that Lexi needed an assistant. As I don’t like to put a boss for every section of my labs I decided to assign you to Xenobiology lab and the arboretums of the ship.” Arrived at the door, he opened it and introduced Oliver to his new home “I know it is not much, but it is enough to make some fun. Feel free to visit other labs if you don’t find enough ‘fun’.” He smiled
Oliver looked around and was pleased, if his knew boss knew anything about his old ships this ship was A LOT bigger than his previous tenures especially the USS Galileo, A Discovery class explorer with little to no space at all. “Nope this will do just fine, I can already feel the fun I’m going to conjure up in this room.” He ran his hands along the clean work surfaces, whoever was working here before him, knew how to keep a lab sterile.
He still remember his first day at job. It was hilarious and involved some goo. He really hoped that Oliver could find also some good time in his labs while working for a younger leader “So tell me more about you, Oliver. What took you to Starfleet?” He asked walking through the labs benches.

“Well…” He said turning around in the middle of the room smiling though the thought of recalling his troubled and turbulent past made it falter slightly. “Just the little old Dominion war really, I wasn’t a scientist or an officer back then but I did my part for better or for worst. I eventually got around to attending my full tenure at the academy and then spent three years as an Ensign before wanting to further my degree and teach. I met a girl once during my first posting, a little disconnected from the world, she taught me a few lessons for sure.” He chuckled at the memory of Sharah.
“I then did four years in Botany and Ecology in Estonia on Earth, three years on a civilian science vessel before becoming a professor at the University. I came back because I was offered this assignment from Starfleet though I feel like our Captain has something to do with that, she always did want us all to end up on the same ship together. Looks like she got at least one of us, does that settle your appetite for knowledge?” Oliver said wiggling his eyebrows teasingly.
