John-King had served for so long on Starships of various kinds that he instinctively knew how to find the captain’s ready room. For the Mythology Class USS Atlantis, that was Deck 1, aft of the bridge.John-King turned up outside the ready room, pushing a covered trolley in front of him, and pushed the chim to advise the captain that she had a visitor.

As the chime sounded, a voice came from behind him. “Excuse me, Sir. I’m going to have to ask you to step away from the door and the trolly and please keep your hands where I can see them.”
The voice came from a young Bajoran Lieutenant dressed in the uniform of the Security section. As he gave the unidentified man his instructions, he tapped his badge =^= Bridge to Security. Intruder. =^=

“Of course, Lieutenant,” John-King replied, doing as ordered, “how can I assist you?”
“If you really wanted a drink and pastries, all you really had to do was come down to the lounge, I would be only too happy to serve you,” he added.

The officer held his gaze, but simply said “No thank you, sir. Please stay right there. The Security Chief will want a word.” At that point, the turbo lift doors opened and a truly massive Orion turned slightly sideways and stepped onto the bridge. He looked at the ‘intruder’, and motioned the officer over to him. Speaking low, but keeping his eye on the man, he spoke and listened to the response and then nodded and patted the officer on the shoulder. He walked over and said in a low rumble. “Ok… You are Mr. McKenzie, correct?” he asked. It wasn’t in an accusatory fashion, but there was a hint of exasperation in his voice. If that was directed at the man, or the fact that a civilian waltzed onto the bridge, was still unclear.

“Yes, John-King McKenzie,” John-King replied, “would you like a drink, or perhaps a pastry? My cupcakes are simply to die for, well not literally, of course. However, the judges from The Great Beta Quadrant Bake Off complimented me on their fluffiness and said the cupcakes passed the bounceback test with flying colours. I highly recommend the ones with green icing. In any case …” John-King paused and didn’t continue on with that chain of thought as he looked the Orion up and down, and said with a huge smile, “My, you are a big one, aren’t you? I guess that you ate your wheaties growing up, or whatever the Orion equivalent of wheaties are.”

“All of ‘em and then some, yeah. And no thanks, Mr. McKenzie. What I would like us for you to tell me how you managed to make your way onto the bridge. Restricted access and all. So why don’t you and I bring your little food truck there and go have a chat in the lounge?” and a tree trunk- like arm motioned back to the turbo lift.

“I don’t think the Fleet Captain would think that’s a good idea, Chief,” John-King replied, “in light of my report for her about the security department on the ship, she might even consider your actions to be an attempt to hush up my findings.” He began counting on his fingers, “A civilian getting on the bridge without getting stopped by Security. Neither the first security officer to come upon said civilian nor the security chief of said vessel checking either the civilian nor his food cart for any kind of weapons or substances that may be of danger to the Fleet Captain or the ship. Those are two items at the moment, I could go on if you like.”
“But because you asked so nicely, I will go with you, I’m sure the Fleet Captain won’t be too disappointed if I’m not up here to meet with her when she arrives, Chief, but if I could have your name, it’ll make my report that much more impressive,” John-King said, smiling.
