He recalled long summer evenings playing back at the ranch on Earth his parents owned. Farm hands and ranchers alike all got together and would enjoy to waste energy credits. Since there were no real credits on the line, she didn’t have an issue especially because it was not about cheating to win but more about cheating for control. Back on the Broadsword with Dante, Kelly and he had a scheme. They ran the table. For them, it was far more fun to see if they could force the outcome of a hand. Rarely it was in their favor. Typically it was to let someone else win by their actions. Knight and she often joked that forcing a hand of poker was like forcing a foe in battle. A few calculated maneuvers coupled with planned vocabulary had sent the enemy running away cursing and the worst poker player at the table bristling with pride. Without Dante here to back her up, Kelly was not sure she could do it; however, since she was not planning to take any hands the worst that could happen was the crew believing she sucked at the game for now.
