“How long is this going to take,” Kelly said moving her right hand towards Ashlynn. “You have until someone needs me,” she offered shifting the PaDD into her left hand looking at the reports coming in.
Kelly Bordeaux
“Well had you come to me immediately…not as long.” Ashlynn said as she ran the tricorder over the injury “You’re right , boxer’s fracture.” She said pulling out the osteoregenerator and ran it over the bones, watching them knit back together. The entire process only took a couple minutes. Ashlynn looked at Kelly “No boxing for at least 72 hours.” She said “If it is still hurting in a couple hours let me know and I’ll get you something for the pain.” She said “Otherwise…I’ll be in sickbay.”
CMO
“Wait,” she grabbed Ashlynn’s arm with her newly fixed hand. Smiling she looked up at the CMO. “You do good work and I am not sure that 72 hour thing is going to be feasible. Wanna leave a tricorder here just to be safe? We are encountering some pirates and I am not sure I can promise I am not going to have to deck someone.”
Kelly
Ash looked at Kelly “Seriously....what ever happened to talking your way out of things instead of automatically going to fistacuffs.”
“It’s called aggressive negotiations,” Kelly said back humorously. She had heard the term in a holo once and thought the comment was brilliant.
She said handing Kelly the tricorder “Let me know if you need a hand in fighting.” She said “I can at least be there to patch everyone up once the fight is over.” She said as she started to head off the bridge. It was little known that the CMO was an okay fighter. She had had her share of fist fights and bar room brawls in her career and life time, she simply preferred a more peaceful means to an end now.
CMO
OOC: What do the weapons and shield diagnostics show?
Mardusk, CoS
“Captain?” Asked to the skipper “Captain, my post is not working properly. I can’t use any scanner to investigate the ship’s crew. Can you acknowledge Mr. Mardusk?” Then he faced the CoS. It was weird, never has happened that scanners would blank out all of a sudden. Pressing buttons and checking that all system fail safe were working a doubt of some sort of disturbing signal being produced by the pirate ship, worried the young Officer.
Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO
Before Kelly could respond one of Drayke’s team was at the console making adjustments. “I am not sure what happened ma’am. It’s probably just a diversion of power after all the repairs we have been doing,” she reported as she worked. After punching a few buttons the console came back on line.
“Mr Kingstone any idea who or how many are attacking that ship ,” Kelly asked.
The sensors are not malfunctioning. Specifics like race and concrete number how many individuals can not be detected from this range. The pirate fighters, might be too small to locate with scanners. However under further scans… energy blasts could be detected that were hitting the transports.
GM
Mardusk relayed the information to Kelly. “Captain. I recommend that we get in close enough to help protect the distress call, but keep the aggressors within the forward firing arc. And depending on the damage to the caller, we should consider sending Security and damage co trolls teams over upon arrival.”
Mardusk, CoS
“Mr Nash get my ship into position to provide knock that ship into next week if the situation calls for it,” Kelly informed her tactical officer.
SEAI walked over from the console she had been leaning over to see the results. “I concur with sending security teams, but we should make sure that they understand that situations like this have happened before, and that it may be a trap. We don’t want them falling asleep on the job and getting the away team kidnapped after all.”
SEAI (XO)
After 22, minutes came another report, from the transport. =^=We have critical engine damage… we already lost warp drive… we’ve been keeping the fighters on our aft quarter but we’re losing speed. Might not be able to ….=^= There was a large explosion sound. =^=That’s it… we are hand to hand, or we have to surrender.=^= The audio didn’t quite cut off before the captain said… =^=if we fight they might kill....
GM
Mardusk looked up from the console and said “Captain. Permission to lead the Boarding Party.” and then began sending commands to the security details.
Mardusk, CoS
“Permission granted and take the CMO with you to treat any injuries ,” Kelly snapped knowing the doc was not the type to back away from any situation that needed her. Ashlynn has seen her fair share of firefights and Mardusk would never let her get hurt or place her in a situation he knew she would be able to handle.
Standing up she looked at SEAI. “You have the bridge until I return with the away team,” she instructed.
captain Kelly Bordeaux
Just as the Captian got up to leave the com beeped =^= Captain this is Styxx. I’ve been monitoring the situation. I’m fully armoured up and I’ve got a squad of marines fully armoured. If you need us. I’m guessing you’re thinking of boarding that ship=^= River said over the com. She knew most captains would think of Security first, for an escort. However she hoped the Captain was different.
Lieut Styxx (MDCO)
=/\=Understood Lt. Meet us in the transporter room. Your team is appreciated. Commander Mardusk and I are on our way there now.=/\= Clicking off the comm call she entered the turbo with Mardusk. “I know it is not typical but I am going to supplement your security forces with that of the marines. I have no idea what is out there and I do not want any surprises. Can you take point and coordinate the efforts between the two teams,” she asked Mardusk.
Captain Kelly Bordeaux
Over the next fifteen minutes the comms had become quiet. As the scanning resolution increased it became clear that there was two ships, connected by multiple conduits loosely surrounded by a 24 fighter sized ships. The larger of the two was clearly some sort of cargo freighter type of ship they smaller more military vessel was shark like with a ship wide opening running the length of the ship that likely was a landing/launching bay for the fighters that were now scannable.
“Skipper, Two large ships are in front of us. A Cargo ship… and a Carrier?” He looked the scanners a bit confused “also there are 24 fighters and some are still stowed in what looks like a hangar bay.” Kai reported
“Furthermore I detect 141 life signs 42 of one race which I believe is that of the Nine… the other 99 on the freighter are mixed races… consistent with this sector of space. Orders?” Asked the CSO
About a minute later there was an abrupt hail from the carrier ship. =^=Identify yourself and maintain your distance… or there will be consequences.=^=
GM
OOC: I might ask for the delay of my replies. With the whole bunch of stuff happenings to my life, I was broken and tired, so I needed time to get on. Well, hope to return pretty active soon.
Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO
SEAI just calmly took a seat at the Captain’s chair. “This is Lieutenant Commander SEAI of the USS Atlantis speaking to whomever wishes to threaten a ship of the United Federation of Planets. It is requested that you cease your assault unless there is a very good reason for doing so. Otherwise said consequences may end up on your end.”
SEAI (XO)
=^=The who?=^= The voice responded… =^=I don’t know you and don’t recognize your right to enforce the laws of space.=^= The ship and related fighters were using the time to form up into a battle wing facing the Atlantis.
There was a lot of movement on the freighter… what they were doing was difficult to tell.
GM
“We have Phasers and Torpedo’s ready, and we can reinforce the shields enough that the Fighters will pose very little risk. If they are trying to remove the cargo on the freighter, I recommend a warp jump right on top of them, extend our shields around them to prevent transport and lock them in place with our tractor beam to avoid any ramming attempt.” Nash began to vocalize his options from the console in front of him. “We can isolate and extract lifesigns as needed and we take the initiative in the encounter. They can launch as many fighters as they like, Light Speed particle energy weapons will make short work of them at that range.”
Nash, CTO
SEAI tapped her commbade. =/\=Engineering, do we have the capabilities for a short warp jump and the extending of our shields around the aggressive ship?=/\= It wouldn’t do to try such a thing if the ship wasn’t in good enough condition to allow it.
SEAI XO
Micro warp jumps were dubious in tactical value as it was a linear approach and ship’s sensors were FTL. While the ship was capable of such a jump in this case, the number of fighters interposed between the Atlantis and the two other ship were barriers that would do significant damage if they tried to ‘warp’ through them… it was possible to try to take a path less direct, but that would likely put them further away as opposed to closer.
gm
“Isn’t that too much drastic? We risk to lose the hull this way! And I repeat we don’t have any integrity left to leave behind.” The CSO said to SEAI “we could try to modify the photon torpedoes to emit strong torionic and plasma waves to disable fighters and sensors. A spread pattern would be sufficient needing only 5 or 6 torpedoes.” Kai suggested.
Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO
The fighters did not appear to be hardened to the various more common Alpha Quadrant attack modes, everything thing old is new here, also the fighters were unshielded small and were vulnerable.
GM
Ashlynn nodded “Give me a minute to get my med kit and I’ll meet you wherever we’er leaving from.” She said as she left the bridge and headed to sickbay and quickly gathered what she needed for the away mission.
CMO
SEAI tapped her fingers on the armrest of the Captain’s chair. “You have my permission to modify those torpedoes. However, given how weak these ships are, I want them to be programmed precisely. I don’t want any more accidental deaths than the statistics say we may have from this.” She turned back on the comm channel to the other ship. =/\=Attacking Ship, this is your last warning. Diplomatic solutions are available, but if they are rejected we have no choice but to answer the call for help that was sent our way with force.=/\=
SEAI (XO)
SEAI (XO)
The Atlantis was scanned while this occurred there was a pause but it was brief… =^=I still don’t know what the Federation of Planets is… =^= another pause as if the crew were weighing their options. =^=Look fine, rescue them… take your cut… whatever… I’m willing to leave or share… whatever you want to call it.. I need 2 minutest to bring my boarding parties back aboard.=^= Came the slightly more compliant carrier commander.
Speaker of the Carrier
GM=/\=Glad you are seeing reason. =/\= SEAI put the connection on hold and turned to the science console. “I want a scan of both the attacked and enemy ships scanned for life forms. I would also appreciate it if you could find out a way of telling me if there are any hostages being taken by the parties that are leaving.”
SEAI (XO)
The Carrier and fighters were crewed by multiple races… however the freighter crew were overwhelmingly (95%) natives of the “Nine”. There were only two individuals who were of the race of Nine that were moving from the freighter to the carrier. They were not alone, so they could be prisoners, but they were also armed… which suggested they weren’t. It was up to some interpretation.
“I stopped the modifications to the torpedoes. Starting scanning process.” Kai said touching various buttons “Mr. Nash?” He called out the CTO “mind you look about the ships status? I’ll be searching life forms aboard the assaulting ship now that I have better readings.”
Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO
GM
“The boarding parties are returning to the carrier ship, but we have no way of identifying who is who,” Nash replied, “so we cannot tell for certain if they have hostages. Those returning to the carrier are armed however, so unless they are boarding the carrier in return, I would suggest they are not hostages. We will need to ask the freighter crew.”
