Hello Atlanteans! For those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a marvelous time. For those of you that don’t, I hope you had a great weekend. The reason for this all call is to share some exciting news. I have changed the ship class from Pendragon to Mythology. The reasons why are as follows:
I like the idea of more ‘real world’ areas to role play on a ship. The holodeck is easy and simple letting us create any area we want with the snap of our fingers however much like the American joke “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” the holodeck works on the same principle. With having more “real world” areas to role play in we are not bound to the time-honored trope of Opps I did not realize the holodeck was being use when you want to join in on a side sim. This will allow the crew to be more creative in their entrances citing a sight, sound, or smell to maybe have you peek your head into an area such as a kitchen to join in open side sim fun. It will also allow at times for things to affect the ship at times such as a fire in a kitchen, allergies from the arboretum, or leaky pipes in the pool. How and what is affected is only limited by one’s imagination.
With the new ship comes more space. Lots more space. At times I have had people talk about wanting their own space on the ship. I had someone ask me for a small area they could use as a workshop to tinker around in. It got me thinking about all the things that make our characters unique so now if you want a small space to develop an aspect of your character or indulge in a hobby it can be yours. No longer are you bound to a holodeck to work on an antique vehicle or modern vehicle, you can have a garage. Want to learn to cook we can have a crew kitchen to explore your culinary talents. Anyone for hot yoga....we got a room for that. Again the possibilities are endless so hit me up with your ideas or come to me when you have them later. I want the Atlantis to embrace your creativity whenever I can.
It will allow GM’s to have a greater library of resources to plan sims. They can use the whole ship or maybe just auxiliary ships. This new ship class has given us 8 Armadillo class shuttles, 8 Longevity class runabouts, and 5 Workbees. This means we can send the engineering peeps outside the ship for repairs or maybe use all 8 runabouts as the setting for the main sim. Again the possibilities are only limited by the creativity of the individual writing the thread. I just want the crew to have the most options for main sims and side sims as possible. We don’t have to use all goodies we have but there are there when you want them.
This is just a short list of why I change the ship class. If you have any questions please let me know. Now what does this mean for you in the here and now sim wise? Not a whole lot, but it will very soon. Right now we are setting up the change. If you wish you can follow the story here in this link as Steven tells Kelly with his character Ian of the ship change.

Once this scene is done, and I promise to keep it brief and not go 3 months talking to my IC husband. We all know I apparently have never heard of the word brevity at times. I will have an announcement IC for everyone to be able to react to this news . We can have a brief mid sim where we can all RP this out before our next main sim starts up. So all we need is for everyone to be ready and start thinking about how your characters might react to a ship change and look out for the post IC from me telling the entire crew of the decision. Thank you so much for your trust, faith, and support as I try to make the Atlantis the best playground in STF.
