Going to the chapel....Chris and Lexi are gonna get married

9:00 Starfleet Academy
=====================Lexi stepped out of the car and walked up to the entrance of Starfleet Academy. She had told Chris yesterday he had come full circle. Maybe coming full circle was what she needed to get her head straight. The guard at the entrance initially barred her entrance to the only sanctuary Lexi could think of. She could have flashed her identity chip as a lieutenant and strolled in but that was another thing Toby mucked up. Toby had insisted she leave Starfleet due to the possibility of being deployed after they were married. The ink wasn’t even dried probably on her discharge papers and not signed on her marriage license leaving Lexi in another predicament she didn’t want to think about. Right now she had to find a place no one would ever look for her. To do that she had to get on the Academy grounds.
After pleading for five minutes until the guard thought Lexi was crazy, the first stroke of good luck happened. “Wait wait wait are you part of the Academy Players rendition of Cinderella,” he flipped the PaDD around listing the approved civilians allowed to enter the Academy. Not caring how she had to do it, Lexi readily agreed.
Walking around the campus, she ignored the looks from the passing cadets. Lexi was in her own world remembering how happy her life had been here. Life was so simple. The paths hadn’t changed in the little more than a decade since she strolled on them as a plebe. So much so before Lexi realized, she found herself at the very spot where she met Chris. Closing her eyes, she thought back on that day twelve years ago. For the life of her, Lexi could not remember why she climbed the tree but she remembered Chris’ first words to her. ‘You okay?’ echoed in his voice in her head.
“No,” Lexi said out loud looking up at the tree. “I am not okay and you are half the cause,” she wrapped her arms around her waist tightly. As much as Lexi wanted to hate Chris right now she couldn’t. She loved him and always would. The entire twelve years she had known the man there was only one place beside the ice cave in Kathmandu Lexi knew the moments between them were real and unfettered. It was in the tree, their tree. Chris was not there but the memory of him was. The last time she saw Chris they were screaming terrible things to each other in the hotel. He had left her crying the same as the other times but this time, Chris knew it. In the past, he could have made up any excuse because he never said a word nor saw her face as he walked out. Forty-eight hours ago, Chris saw her fall apart. He heard her words. She had slapped him asking what kind of person did he think she was and his only response was ‘You don’t want me to answer that.’ This utterance rang out in her head like a death bell over and over. The only way Chris, the Chris Robins that loved her Chris, could walk out on her like that was if he truly was done.
Feeling a swell of emotions knotting her chest, Lexi jumped up trying to catch the branch. After twelve years the tree had grown a solid foot higher making it impossible for her to make it up there like before. Not to be deterred, Lexi started looking around for one of the passing cadets she had seen earlier. Of course, there were none when she needed it but her eyes fell on something else. A single trash can a few feet away. The domed top to the metal receptacle might be enough of a boost to get her there. The metal scrapped on the pavement as Lexi dragged it to the spot she needed under the branch. It was wobbly but seemed sturdy enough for what she needed.
Hiking her dress up around her waist so that she would not trip, Lexi leaned forward balancing her upper body on the trashcan so that her feet could find purchase on the rim. It took a second but soon Lexi was balanced on her impromptu step ladder. The two and a half feet boost made it so she only had to jump a small distance to grab the branch. Springing up her fingers wrapped around the measure of wood; however, it had been twelve years and one baby since she pulled herself up on her own. She did not have the strength she did at 18. This only made her mind flash to Chris reminding her she was not eighteen anymore. It also made her more determined to prove she could do this. Dangling from the branch, Lexi wiggled and kicked trying to pull her body up. This only succeeded in knocking the trashcan over on its side. The momentum of the fall sent it tumbling out of the way and down across the pavement. Several seconds later, her arms gave out and Lexi too fell only this time Chris was not there to catch her.
Lexi Garfield
Only she didn’t fall, least not at first as she felt arms reach around her, stabilizing her for a few seconds before the fall did happen as a she crashed, hitting onto something far softer as she could hear a small gruff from behind her. “I guess you fell for me again…” came the voice, it was soft and familiar voice as they sounded slightly winded from trying to catch their breath from the impact Lexi laid on top of her mystery savior.
Lexi sat not moving. She knew that voice. She would know it anywhere. Chris. How he had found her creased Lexi’s forehead with lines of thought. How he found her and she hadn’t seen him was another part of the mystery. He must have come from behind but how. It was an open field. It was not like he was a security ninja. He was a six foot four scientist that studied stars. Lexi’s felt her heart pounding. How was she going to handle this? She wanted to turn around, fall into his arms, and beg him to never leave again. She also wanted to turn around, follow through with the punch be blocked, and then walk away forever. Unfortunately, Lexi Garfield only had 3.5 seconds to decide a course of action. “No, I fell for you once twelve years ago. Right now I fell out of a tree. There is a difference,” she said in a cool tone.
Chris said nothing as she said the words but felt a sense of pain and guilt. He wasn’t sure if he could do any of this, if he could really win her back. He did know he had to try. He had avoided being hurt for so long he had no choice but to take his medicine and push through.
Lexi has to fight every urge not to start talking. She had him, right there in front of her. It was all she prayed for but now she was just as scared as Chris seemed to be. Last night was the first time Chris had fought back verbally. It stung worse than the handprint she left on her cheek. For the first time Lexi didn’t know what to say to him for fear of it delving into another verbal slug match.
Slowly she felt the hands of the person gently moving upward to help her get up to her feet as she felt the hands brushing away the dirt and leaves from the tree. Turning around Lexi would see what she must have already assumed, Chris was there to catch her just like he had been those twelve years ago as he looked at her with a soft remorseful stare as he felt the weight of his actions heavy on his heart as he looked at her.
As his hands brushed the loose dirt off her dress, Lexi did not make eye contact with him. She looked everywhere but his eyes. Lexi could not be sure of her actions or reactions if she looked into his. As his hands moved down her dress to get the small pieces that clung to her hem it happened. Lexi and Chris paused long enough in the cleaning off her dress to see each other face to face. Instantly she felt a wave of anger, love, sadness, and joy sweep across her body. “No,” she snapped seeing the look on Chris’ face. “No, you do not get to look at me that way Christopher Robins.” Her body shook some as she spoke like it was thirty-two degrees and snowing. “Do you know what I have lost and I am not talking about Toby and me.” Her chest heaved as Lexi fought not to cry, scream, or do a combination of both. “I have no home, no job, no way to take care of Ruth. I am alone and it was because I was so in love with you. With you,” she pushed him back feeling tears start to burn her eyes. “No man was or ever ould have taken your place but I realize I was just a fool for so many years. Loving you has destroyed any chance of happiness I should have found!” Lexi started to pace in slow circles as she gathered her thoughts.
It was then, in that split moment Chris felt his breath seemed to leave him a second time as he fully took in what she was wearing, long ago Chris had told her he would marry her in this dress. It was a lark, playful and silly yet he had meant those words so long ago even if he tried to play it all off as if he was just teasing her.
“You look stunning…” was all the words he could say as he felt his throat grow dry. Her hair seemed to have gotten tousled from the fall as a strand fell down her face as moved forward to move it from her face as gentle as he could, placing the strand behind her hair as he paused and stepped back slightly.
As Chris reached forward to move the lock of hair, Lexi remained still closing her eyes briefly. The feeling of his fingertips across her temple made Lexi’s knees go weak. Slightly leaning into the palm of his hand, she relished the slow gentle touch. If she was not standing in the middle of the Academy grounds, if Chris had not used the words he did during the fight at the hotel, or if Lexi had not waited until the eleventh hour to call off her wedding they might have stood a chance at surviving this. Lexi opened her eyes steeling herself to do and say what she needed to. “No, you can’t do this to me again Chris. I need you to leave. I need a place to think,” she started but he instantly turned on the charm.
“Need help up buttercup?” he asked her as he nodded his head at the tree, if she wanted up there he would gladly help her reach the top.
Lexi knew he had meant their tree. He was here for the same reason. They were trying to trace their steps back to the start in the hopes of finding a path to leas them back to each other. Was this what she wanted. Lexi needed time to think.
“No I don’t need help up,” she retorted feeling the cascade of emotions engulf her like a wave on the beach. “I need to be alone so go,” she reached out pushing his chest with two hands. “That is what you are good at,” she commanded in a soft but firm tone. “Just go and leave. Please, I can’t be around you right now.” Lexi’s tone had a pleading quality. She could not keep up the faltering neutral expression much longer.
“Not going to happen… I have run for too long. I have let my fear of being hurt ruin every chance I had, and I might have ruined every chance still… but I have to try… so no I am not going anywhere.” he said as he took a deep breath as he tried to center himself. He knew this was going to be hard but he didn’t know the half of it right now.
His words stopped Lexi cold. She had no idea how to even respond. The night after the Northstar Cafe Lexi would have sold her soul for Chris to say these words. Now he was and all Lexi wanted to do was forgive him. The past was the past. Living in it, whether good or bad, was never healthy. She swallowed hard feeling sick. Just start with I love you, her inner voice begged yet Lexi felt dizzy trying to get the courage to admit it verbally.
It was that moment Chris looked just past Lexi’s shoulder, waist high for him, breast high for her was something he hadn’t seen for a very long time.
“Oh my…” he said softly as he stared at the tree, carved and marked it seemed from others over the years. It may have been fresh and un-carved twelve years ago but now it seemed sparked with love and joy from all those who found peace and love under the might oak branches. Deep in the center around the others though a unique and special one was very plain to still see and clearly the oldest of them all. A simple heart with the initials CR + AG deep and dark seemed to call Chris back to twelve years ago when everything felt fresh and new.
Christopher Robins
Running her fingers over the top, Lexi could feel the age of the carving. It was not new. It did not have the rough splintered edge but a dull slick feel from years of wear by the weather and elements. “When did you do this,” she asked wondering why this was the first time she had ever seen it.
“The day I meet you… we fell and… I knew I wanted you. It was an… old promise to make you mine.” he confessed as he felt it hard to keep his gaze on her. The words sounded hollow after all that happened but it was the the truth then, and now.
Inside Lexi, something snapped seeing their names on the tree. All the frustration and anger Alexandra Garfield ever felt broke from her soul. She had come here to get him out of her life but now all she could think about was calling Chris the love of her life. The problem was the feelings Lexi swore she had buried about Chris rose to the surface as fast as an air bubble underwater. The stress of the situation caused Lexi to vent her own anger and frustration out on an unsuspecting Chris. “You admitted you have no idea who I am anymore. At the restaurant, you said you didn’t even know what we were” she threw back his words at him. “So how can you show me this…this most romantic thing thing when you admit you have no idea about what you want or see in us because there is no more us?”
“I have known since the second met you what we were,” her voice started to get the high pitched tones of a person nearing the irrational. Hearing Chris act like their twelve years was just a haphazard series of random events. “It’s not hard,” Lexi now yelled loud enough that anyone walking by would look their way. “There hasn’t been a single damn day I have not realized what I had and lost that night at the Northstar Cafe but apparently you,” Lexi gestured broadly to Chris, “you have never known until this moment.”
Lexi was visibly red as her face matched the tone she was using. Her hands shook and were white as she clenched them into fists at her side. “This carving is about us only US is two people that go through something together. You and I don’t have an US because our Us always ends with me crying over your me, me, me my needs tantrums or the you, you, you don’t know what you want dilemmas,” she threw her hands up. Lexi’s outburst was over issues far deeper than the ones she was sharing. How could she have given up her life to marry Toby and not be in love with him? How could she have been so stupid to be in love with Chris all these years?
Lexi
Having giving Lexi time to talk Chris took a deep breath as he looked at her with the soft look the day he first meet her. “I don’t know what us is cause we never had us… we had you and Noah, but we didn’t have us. Even so that didn’t mean I didn’t want an us, my god Lexi… I wanted us from the moment I meet you. I felt insecure and scared, you knew what Tiffany did to me when she broke my heart I told you about all of the stuff she did. Trying to get you to cheat on your boyfriend… was never an option. I was never going to do that, so I sat and watched and wished for years… hoping you would say I am the one and you never did.” he said as he looked away for a second as he watched some of the people walking by, bringing back memories of all the time he spent her.
Chris had a point but he also never knew what was going on in her head. She bit her lip almost feeling ashamed. If Chris had ever said the word or made a move under the excuse of a drunken kiss, Lexi would have been Tiffany. She would have left Noah on a dime. Maybe on some level, Chris knew it and in a bizarre form of camaraderie, that is why he never made his move. “And if I had,” Lexi posed the question, “do you really think it would have made a difference?”
“You’ll never know now will you? I can say… I doubt I would have let it pass. I didn’t when we graduated and you broke up with Noah. My first shot in four years and I tried… halphasardly yes but I tried. It blew up, and I ran, I won’t deny that but… I hope you can understand how it felt finding Noah there that night.” he said as he took a deep breath as he thought about all the happened during that time and how so much of this felt like one big screw up after the next.
“I spent four years hoping you would leave Noah and want me, and it didn’t happen and that isn’t your fault. I should have told you more how I felt too. I can’t just sit back hoping you know I loved you, that wasn’t fair… and there was so much overthinking and fear.... of never being enough, of always coming in second place. I made a lot of horrible choices, and I said all the words I knew would hurt you and I can’t take that back but I cant tell you just how sorry I am. I am sorry…” Chris paused as he felt himself choke up as he tried to get the words to come but knew they wouldn’t be easy.
“Then don’t. We don’t have to do this. Let’s just say it’s a clean slate,” Lexi put a hand to her forehead. Any other time she would have run her fingers through her hair but today there was enough hair spray and bobby pins that a tornado could not fully take it down. To her surprise, Chris continued.
“I am sorry I pushed you so far, that you… that you didn’t want to tell me we had a child together…” he said as he could see the visible shock on her face as he wanted nothing more than to hold her.
“What,” she immediately replied. Her eyes searched his looking for any sense of deception or bluff. She knew she could not pull off random fathers for long but she needed more time. Only her family and Ian knew the truth. She had no idea if she should be angry or apologetic. Half a heartbeat later, Lexi had come up with a plan. Everyone had a lying voice. They might not realize it or maybe they did. Either way, everyone had one and everyone used it from time to time as a way to protect themselves. It could be a higher pitch or softer volume. The subtleties never mattered except when it was heard by the people who knew you well enough to know what you were about to do. “Chris,” she started already coming up with a spin on the truth.
“I saw that video… and all I could think of was I should have been there. I pushed… so hard to try and give you space I thought you wanted I created this vacuum that prevented any spark between us to survive. I lost a chance to see my child born because of that pushing, and I will never forgive myself for that… but I would be doubly remiss if I didn’t try to win the one person I see every night when I look in the stars, the one person I search and pray to be next to me.”
Lexi’s legs buckled hearing Chris’ confess he knew about Ruth. All the pieces snapped in place. He was not her for her. He was here for their daughter. “Chris I can explain,” she felt the words falling over each other as they left her mouth. “Just let me explain okay,” her voice trembled some.
“You think I don’t love you, or didn’t want to be with you… I just wanted you to be happy, and you always seemed happiest with me just on the side. I know now, more than ever that was a lie I told myself to not get hurt… and I don’t want to live that lie anymore, but I don’t know how to fix this void… but I want to try buttercup.”
Christopher Robins
“Stop talking,” Lexi snapped feeling the world spin around her. He is here for Ruth. He is going to want her. You are going to lose her, a voice in her head increased the panic Lexi was feeling.
“I need to sit,” she looked around frantically. “I need,” she put a hand in her stomach pressing it firmly trying to stop the feeling deep inside her. All the color had drained from her face. Lexi looked like she was about to pass out.
Lexi
Chris grabbed a hold of her as he gently helped her to her feet at the base of the tree as he followed suit next to her. As he sat down he looked over to her, she was shaking for certain and it too just pull her head to his lap so she could just relax and think like she used to. “I know I haven’t made it easy… but I put my own fears between us for so long I didn’t even know what I wanted till I came here this weekend. Seeing Ruth, the wedding… that dress. I knew I wanted a life with you, I knew I couldn’t run anymore… I couldn’t hide. And before you ask… I didn’t come here solely cause of Ruth. She helped finally make everything clear but… I am here for you first. I can figure out this daddy thing as time goes on but I have to make something, anything right between us. Even if you just decide you want to be cordial friends, I will do whatever you want because I don’t want to be out of your life anymore, I refuse to not have my Northstar.”
Christopher Robins
Lexi could not find a sense of normal or balance. Everything he was saying was white noise after he admitted knowing about Ruth’s parentage. Lexi had to stop her racing heart and focus. Chris was not yelling but that did not mean things were okay. He could have just come to a decision and was following through. That was the one thing Chris excelled at. Not all his decisions were the right one but once he made a decision, Christopher David Robins never waved from his course. Lexi was the one who could never pick a direction or stay on the path. In a different world, if Chris had been as assured about Lexi as he was his career, life, and dreams they would probably have three kids and several pets by this time. If Chris was going to go out on a limb then maybe Lexi should too.
Leaning off the tree, Lexi turned so her face was inches from his. She wasn’t going to kiss him to make up. She wasn’t going to kiss him to say goodbye. Lexi was going to kiss him because the last time they did this, Alexandra Zelda Garfield felt safe. She felt whole. Chris had said a lot. Hopefully, there would be time for conversation. Right now she needed to feel how he kissed her. Was it going to be a kiss goodbye or would he stop her? Would he take her in his arms and never stop.
“I need you to kiss me. I…I just,” she said and was abruptly cut off from any further words. This was the reaction she hoped would happen. The reaction she needed from him. The past could be wiped away. All Lexi Garfield wanted was the hope of a future that Chris gave to her.
That moment was all Chris needed to hear from her, placing his hand firmly behind her head he pulled her in as he kissed her like he might never see her again. It had been so long since he had tasted that sweet taste of her lips against his as he felt his heart melt at the simplicity of the moment. Every moment for the past few years flashed in his mind that he had wanted to kiss her, the ice caves had been so close but they were not the first times, just the first she knew of. He had wanted to kiss her on countless nights when she curled up with him when they watched movies, or after they worked out and needed to cool down, or late nights of studying, or just cause she looked beautiful and he wanted to show her he cared.
Lexi met his frantic urgency as their lips touched. Both of them wanted acted like they were eighteen not caring who saw as Lexi moved at first to her knees and then over to his lap never once allowing his lips to break from hers. As his hands found her hair and knotted in it so that she could not move more than a hairsbreadth from his, Lexi setting on his lap pressing her body into his. She needed to feel him against her, his heart beat matching hers. Lexi had no idea what to do with her hands since they were in public. Maybe God did have a plan because if they had been in the dark stillness of her hotel room or his, the moment would have led to other activities. This would have confused things more and right now they needed clarity. The kind words could never offer because Lexi tried. Each time she moved to break the kiss and confess she loved him, Chris tightened his grasp on her. Deep in her soul, she knew, Chris would never let her go again. A cold rush filled her instead of a hot one. It was the rush of adrenaline and not hormones. It was the rush of reality and not the dream they had always been in. She had only kissed him twice but both times she had felt this. As much as she loved Chris, Lexi also had the small rush of fear knowing no one could ever take his place. She could meet a million men and kiss them a thousand times over, but no one would elicit the sense of anxiety that came with knowing only one person held your utter happiness in their hands and you were powerless to control how they used this.
Every time though expect the convention he ignored that feeling, buried it and forgot tried to push past any hope she was going to see him the way he saw her. He wasn’t certain for years how much she cared and when he finally learned he let the smallest speed bump scare him away from her. Now though he couldn’t just let those moments pass, he needed to take them when they came and she was offering, and he wasn’t letting it pass as he kept on kissing, each second seeming to be making up for lost moments he never took as all he knew was he felt whole and complete in this moment with her.
Moments seem to pass as he slowly let his lips separate from her as he pressed his forehead against hers as he breathed in deeply, her scent bringing him back as it still smelled like the strawberries and cream from so long ago as he felt himself forgetting time was even passing as he wanted nothing more than to stay trapped in this moment forever with her.
Lexi sat so still. Scared almost to move for fear of breaking the delicate bubble around them. They were going to have to venture back to reality only past having Chris at her side, the reality was bleak. She was a civilian. Chris an officer in Starfleet. He would be up in the stars where he belonged. Lexi would be firmly on the ground. There were many obstacles to overcome that closed her eyes and tried with the strength of her will to make them dissipate.
“That work?” were the first words he spoke as he opened his eyes as he let his head move back so he could seen into her gorgeous brown eyes as his lips had the smallest of curling smiles as every inch of him wanted to go back in for a second kiss, but knew that this moment needed more than just the silence of sensual bliss.
Christopher Robins
“I told me what I needed to know,” Lexi said laying her head on his shoulder. Closing her eyes she inhaled deeply smelling leather, cedar, and balsam. Chris had never worn any other cologne than this in the twelve years she had known him. To Lexi, it smelled like home. Not the residence but the feeling of where you were your best surrounded by the one person who made you the best. A smile curled on her face that he would not see. She was faced away from him so that his arms could cover her and hold her tight to him. “Now tell me something else I need to know. Have you only ever wore this because I told you I loved it when we went Christmas shopping that time our plebian year?” The hard questions would come later. Right now was a time for coming back to Earth and finding her feet.
Lexi Garfield
“I wear other things… but I usually only wear this if I think I have a shot in hell to be close to you. It’s my favorite, and it has always made me think of you in this tree the day we meet… deep and woody meet your soft and light scent, it was us in a nutshell.” he answered as he closed his hands as he held onto her tightly, not letting go for one second as everything continued to solidify. There was still so much that needed to be corrected but right now he didn’t care. She had lied, and maybe that was something to bring up in the future but that wasn’t something he cared about right now. He cared more that she was his, and he was hers.
“Okay so we need to get one thing straight,” Lexi said in a serious tone still not looking at him. “I am not sure how you are remembering things but we were attached at the hip for four years so I am not quite sure where you are getting this shot in hell thing. When weren’t we together? Admit it, you feel hot and sexy Mr. Aussie Joy when you wear it. It had nothing to do with me,” she let out a laugh that got louder and more silly as Chris tickled her sides to shut her up. Yes, she might have ruined the moment but they were settling into the easy relationship that was classic Lexi and Chris where they ignored the world and just enjoyed each others company.
Laying her head back down, Lexi let out a deep relaxed sigh. Her fears for the future were dwindling. Whatever became of them, they would be together in some form. That was all Lexi really needed.
As she rested Chris felt a small rectangle object pressing into his chest as she rested on him, he hadn’t noticed it till now as he moved his right hand to feel inside his pocket where she laid on him.
Pulling the object he found something he thought he lost two years ago. Something he had with him eight years ago, something that he never knew he needed till right now as he stared at the box.
“Um baby it is a little lower and to the right,” she teased him feeling Chris squirm about some. At least he was removing his wallet. Lexi could have lived with it poking her but she was more comfortable now that it had been removed.
“Ian…” he said muffled under his breath, he wondered what his friend had been doing with his coat when he came to his room. Chris had been missing his coat, only to have Ian to return it as an excuse to yell at Chris. It had taking a lot of yelling and soul searching to finally reach through Chris thick skull but he couldn’t help but smile at the box as he tilted his head to see Lexi’s reaction.
Lexi stiffened hearing Chris mutter under his breath. They had so much to talk about. Chris was set to leave Earth at 9 PM tonight after the wedding. It only made sense he would want some answers. “Chris we need to talk. I know we do but what did Ian,” she started to say before stopping mid-sentence. Chris wanted to talk but apparently not the same topic as she did. Her mouth went dry and again as her heart began to race. The box in his hand was small enough to only hold one iconic item.
“Open it…” he said softly as he handed it to her so she could find out herself just what it was. Inside was a silver princess cut sapphire/diamond engagement ring. It looked in design almost identical to the pendant he had given to her ten years ago after their ice cave venture.
Lexi’s hand shook as she opened the turquoise box that was the signature color for the store and their signature color. Inside was not what she expected. Instead of the traditional solitaire stone surrounded by an array of sparkling diamond chips, was a ring that was shaped like a star. Nestled in two open squares that were set ninety degrees to each other was a single solitary blue gemstone. The appearance of the ring could not be mistaken as a star. Anyone else receiving the ring might question the choice but Lexi understood the implication instantly. Chris had given her the Northstar so she would never lose her way by his side again. Her eyes traveled back and forth from the ring set in the white bed of satin to Chris’ brilliant blue eyes. Her body shook as she waited to hear Chris speak. God don’t let him see how nervous you are, she begged willing her body to stop nervous shakes erupting up and down her spine.
“I… I was gonna ask you this twice before, at the cafe’, and in that morning at the convention. Both times things stopped me, and I thought I lost it as I ran away but it seems fate made sure it wasn’t lost to time. So… let me ask you now, under the tree we meet… where I carved our initials and I fell in love with you so many years ago.” Chris said as moved up and let himself sit a bit straighter as he looked directly into Lexi’s eyes as he took the ring from the box as he took her hand, removing the ring Toby had placed on her finger as he tossed it behind him like it was a piece of garbage as he placed the new one on her delicate finger.
“Will you, Alexandra Zelda Garfield, marry me… Christopher David Robins, a known a fool and idiot who has taking far too long to realize he just need to step up and tell you just what his heart felt. I can’t do this anymore without you, and I refuse to continue my life without having you by my side forever and nor will I let a day longer without you by my side if you will have me.” he said in a soft low tone as he waited as time continued to seem in flux as what was mere seconds seem to stretch into eternities.
Christopher Robins
“Yes,” Lexi threw her arms around his neck kissing him hard and fast as she then pulled back her hand to look at the ring seated on her finger. While it was larger than a normal wedding ring, Chris had designed it perfectly so that it did not overpower her hand. “Yes yes yes,” she repeated her answer placing another quick kiss on his lips before admiring the ring once again. Sitting back Lexi looked at Chris and blushed turning her cheeks into various shades of pink and red. This was all she had ever wanted. The promise to be his forever and always. The rest they would just figure out as they went.
“You know they are all going to think we are bat snot crazy,” she warned him. “They are going to call us crazy and impulsive but,” she leaned forward kissing him slower this time. Lexi let her lips linger on his until the urge to continue the kiss grew too great. She was not going to let him kiss her like that until they were alone for fear of not being able to control themselves to stop. “But I don’t care. As long as I have you that is all I will ever need.”
Lexi
“Good, now… here is the thing though… I am tired of waiting and you have a chapel… that if I am honest feels like you made it for us. Why should we wait, I have two weeks before I need to report to the Atlantis… I don’t want to wait… and if go down an aisle I can hoard that over Ian that we did it the right way.” Chris said with a small smirk as he pulled her close as he cuddled up with her.
