Room 426 Robbin’s room

“Chris,” Lexi yelled standing outside the door. Immediately after yelling his name she waved her hand over the door controls. When it did not open, Lexi used the back of her fist to thump hard on the surface several times. “Christoper David Robbins I know you are in there. Open the door,” she commanded followed but another series of three hits with her fist.

The door slid open as Chris stood in front of the door staring at Lexi, he had expected her yes but in reality, he was not going to do anything but walk past her on his way to a bar. “Not now Lexi, this isn’t the time.” he said as he walked back in, his bags on his bed but it seemed he wasn’t quite yet packing them up.

“Really Robins really,” she marched in directly behind him. She hadn’t expected him to be in his room. She had expected him to be holed up in Ian’s room just one door over. Since he was here, Lexi was not going to let him off the hook that easy. “Do you have a time? Maybe an itinerary so that I can come back when it is more convenient,” she tossed out hotly crossing her arms over her chest in the classic pissed off woman pose.

Shuffling through his bag he found a new shirt as he began to take off the polo he was wearing and put on a clean button up shirt that was black and red highlights. “I am gonna go drink, heavily then I am going to leave in the morning… why I came here is beyond me but this isn’t the place for me.” Chris said as he turned to her, shirt only draped on him as it revealed his chizled chest as he began to button it up slowly.

His speech was not at all what she had been expecting. Lexi’s shoulders slumped a bit and her arms sagged from the rigid position they were held at a moment early. Her mind raced with a thousand comebacks ranging from ‘don’t go’ to ‘don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you’. She used none of them as she watched his actions. They were pure Chris: slow, controlled, methodical.

“Now, if you will excuse me… I am… gonna do anything but be in this hotel.” he said as he brushed past her to exit the room as he began walking down the hall toward the elevator, not stopping as he kept going.

Stunned Lexi didn’t react Looking around the room she could see the open suitcase with the few items inside it. Were they still ones he hadn’t unpacked or the first to go into the bags? Uncontrolled anger swelled in Lexi. Chris was doing it again. He was walking out and not looking back. Somethings never changed. Storming out of the room she saw his back as he headed to the elevator. “Fine. Keep running. You ran out on me at the academy. You ran out on me in Brisbane. You are running out on me again. They say life comes full circle. Well, congratulations. You are right where you started running twelve years ago.” Lexi was loud. Her voice carried not only down th hall but far enough to the lobby that a few patrons turned their gaze to the commotion above them.

“Oh look we don’t need to find them. There’s mommy and daddy,” Aubrey said looking up at the pair. She was slightly to the right so if Lexi or Chris looked down they wouldn’t immediately spot her if at all.

“Oh yes, because you may it so god damn easy to stay…” he said turning around to face her, his eyes seeming to flash with anger as he stared her down. “Every time I got even a little close you found someone else… Noah, Toby… whoever the hell you banged to make Ruth. It sure wasn’t Noah… and trust me I get I left after you started getting all cozy with Noah after we spread our DNA all over that place so you got mad, revenge sex? We have all done it, but for Christ sake you could have told me whoever you went to anger bang got your knocked up and I would have been there. I would have been there a thousand times over but you never asked so… I walk away. Why the hell would I want to be with someone who can’t even bother to try and say sorry for the misunderstanding… not once… so forgive me ms high and almighty but I don’t need to keep chasing a dream… sometimes you just have to grow up and realize you’re not 18 anymore.” Chris spat back with equal measures of anger and regret as he stared Lexi down.
