Maybelle walked next to Ali and let out a whistle. Mr. Jacen’s department was a treasure trove for the creative mind. It was like a toy store to Maybelle. One day she would let Mr. Jacen give her an after school job here. When she got older of course. For right now, Maybelle had other plans. “Oh oh oh is this what you were looking for,” Maybelle held out a box of parts.

Ali looked at the box of parts “Yes.” She said happily and began picking through the various parts getting what they needed to repair the replicator. She looked around “We need one more power source.” She said and found what she was looking for on another shelf. She looked at Maybelle “We have what we need. Let’s go.” She said

Three hours later

“How did you get so smart,” Maybelle said laying with her head hanging off the bed so that Ali looked like she was on the ceiling and not the floor. She had watched Ali for half the afternoon make…whatever it was she was making. Frankly, she didn’t care how they got there but just that they got there. “So will the replicator be ready,” Maybelle started to talk when instantly a loud ‘Bah’ sound filled the room. It was most assuredly of the barnyard variety and it only took a second for Maybelle to find it’s source.

“Bah” a goat bleated two inches to the left of Maybelle. The shock of the sound and seeing the animal stunned Maybelle so much she fell off the bed and onto her head. “Bah” the goat bleated and seemed to be louder than the first.
Crawling over to her friend Maybelle’s eyes widened. “Ali…how did you replicate a goat?” she asked purely stunned. “I am not complaining. We talked about a club pet but I thought we were only going to replicate milkshakes?”
