“Hey Lex, gonna go… duty… something… bye.” Ian said as he took the call off from her as he looked at Kelly with his eyes wide. “What… what did… I… this is why you are not allowed to open any diplomatic meetings. You are banned… I should put this down on your record!” Ian seemed to shout, but a smirk on his mouth let her know how much he found a sense of sick twisted humor in all this.
Ian Bordeaux
“My permanent record,” Kelly winked at him and began her tirade on how bat shot crazy Ian’s two friends were.
NEXT MORNING CHRIS’ ROOM
After sitting up half the night thinking, Lexi decided she was going to tell Chris the truth. It was only by pure chance, Chris had not run into Noah at the hotel. That chance would reach zero in two days when she walked down the aisle. She had to come clean and tell Chris the truth. Ian had been little help with the dry run of how to break the new even going to the extent to fake that the comm system in the hotel was on the fritz. The dawn brought more clarity to her predicament. Yesterday was just so perfect. It had been months, well fifteen months exactly since Lexi had had a chance to just hang out with Chris. As selfish as it was Lexi needed that time with Chris. Once she had applied enough makeup to look like a mobster’s wife to hide the fact she cried most of last night, Lexi dressed Ruth in jeans with an autumn toned plaid shirt. This matched the shirt Lexi was wearing. It might have been cliche but she had been given the t-shirt set that said MOMMA and MOMMA’S MINI. It was one of Lexi’s favorite outfits to wear. “Okay you ready wingman,” Lexi said bouncing Ruth on her hip slightly. It was early but later for someone with a baby. Palming the door controls, Lexi waited for Chris to open the door. Letting out a long breath between her pursed lips, she hoped Chris was alone.
Lt. Lexi Garfield
“You,” Kelly yelled down the hall pulling Lexi’s attention from the door.
“Me,” Lexi turned to face her.
“Yes, you. What the hell are you doing? Telling Chris that Noah is the baby daddy,” Kelly threw up her hands.
“Shhhhhh,” Lexi waved a hand at Kelly indicating she needed to keep her voice down.
“What,” Kelly waved her hands about, “what is this? I am not going to shhhh,” she batted at Lexi with her own hands. “Chris, Ian, and Noah are all in jail and it is your fault.” Kelly’s tone was accusatory and had every right to be. She had not expected to be commed by Ian when she was covered in soap while taking a shower. His message was short but concise. “Do you know what I had to deal with all before my second cup of coffee! Do you? No, I do not think you have a clue!”
Ruth let out a huge bubble of laughter as she watched the two adults they were so animated as they talked waving their hands about. Hearing her Aunt Kelly say ‘no’ was something Ruth uniquely understood. Lifting her finger she began to waggle it back and forth like she saw so many times. There was no reason she could not join in on the conversation, whatever it was.
“Baby stop,” Lexi grabbed her finger and kissed the little hand. “Okay, you’re right. I do not have a clue. Was it Toby’s bachelor party? Oh my god did Chris layout Toby?” Lexi had braced herself for this possibility the second she asked Chris to show up. Toby wasn’t a bad guy but he could at times be a closet snob. At times the closet doors opened and Connecticut Toby as she secretly called him, reared his ugly head. This was typically when he raved about his Indie movies, books, or music in an attempt to make him seem far more important or worldly than he was. The Indie rants as Lexi called them were followed by some weird food few people heard of with fancy names just so he could feign the ‘you haven’t heard of blank’ expression; consequently followed by his tea tottling sangria or mojito. Lexi had no doubt that if Chris spent enough time with Toby, Chris would point out just how unremarkable and pompous he was.
“Huh,” Kelly shook her head and held up a hand. “No Chris called our room last night. He told me you told him that Noah was Ruth’s father. Chris got his panties in a bunch and at some point decided to pay a call to Noah. Ian was getting breakfast and ran interference. A fight broke out when the punches started and Noah’s mom called hotel security saying her son was being mugged. Because Noah threw a punch they took all three to the local precinct. If it was Starfleet security that showed we could have brushed this under the table but since it is civilian you and I have to go bail them out. Come on,” Kelly grabbed Lexi’s free elbow. “Ian said he would explain more when we get there.”

Meanwhile…
The cell was light and bright, with the small hum of a force field as all three men could be found, each at a different corner of the cell as they seemed to be trying to distance themselves as much as they could.
“I hate you… so much… like… why… just why?” Ian said with a low angry tone as he looked over at Chris, Ian’s black eyes seeming to shine, to his right sat Chris with his pristine face while Noah to the right happened to have two black eyes seeming to be the worst for ware.
“No you don’t, and you didn’t need to show up. I had it under control.” Chris retorted with a huff, he wasn’t in the mood for either really but he stood by his actions. Noah broke up everything he ever wanted with Lexi, got her pregnant, abandons the kid to marry Kylie. He had every right to defend Lexi the way he had.
“I still don’t know what is going on… but I hate you both if it’s on consolation to you both.” Noah said as he felt his head splitting as he sat in the room wanting anything to be out of here.
“Shut up Noah.” came the voice of Ian and Chris in unison.
