Sowyn was listening carefully and she could feel her pulse through her fingers. After a brief moment, realization dawned on her face and she looked up at Ryley with excitement, naturally causing her heart rate to increase. “I get it!”A smile spread across Ryley’s face as he saw the increase in her heart rate. He removed his hand satisfied by her temperature and looked at her a second before removing the stethoscopes and pulling it one handed lay around his neck. “Whatever sort of Doctor you decided to become kiddo, don’t ever let them tell you that the machines are the only way to go. Doctors best skills are what they can hear, see and observe and above all imagine. If you can imagine what a normal heart should sound like now that you’ve heart it and felt it you’ll know next time you find one that dosent match that. Understand?”
Sowyn nodded. “And… my heart rate might be different from your normal heart rate because we’re different species, right?”
“You got it kiddo.” Ryley nodded
Meanwhile, her readouts were showing her to be healthy and more or less baseline. She had obviously grown since her last check-up and she was definitely progressing in her development. What was normal for a Dy’allan, well, that would be a guess based on both Dalaira and Relann’s physiology.

Ryley started preparing the hypo. “Though I wouldn’t advise you to replicate items of increasing and decreasing temperature and feel those in case you get burnt or something…just saying.”
She grinned at him. “But that would be silly.”
“Yeah.” He agreed somewhat bitterly “silly that’s what my old man thought too, but despite some wicked burns I can estimate a temperature within a decimal so who’s the silly one.” He was muttering under his breath now,
Sowyn gazed at him, her look rather intense. But she seemed to understand it was a moment that didn’t require her reply.
Hypo prepared he spun it in his hand like an old west gunslinger and considered her. “On a scale of one to five with one being not at all and five being terrified how scared are you of this?” He asked and spun the hypo again.

M.D.Sowyn held out her hand and looked at Ryley expectantly. “Can I see it?”

He watched her a moment, blue eyes staring at her unwaveringly as he rolled the device across his palm. “ Sure,” He said eventually and passed it to her.

M.D.Taking the device in her small hands, she turned it over and studied it from every angle before pointing to the small adjusters. “And this is where you change the dose?”
“Yes,” Ryley acknowledged and put a hand up. “Don’t play with it.”
Sowyn handed it back. “I’m not scared of it. I’m scared of getting ill like some of the people our healers couldn’t save, but this will help. So… go ahead.”
~Sowyn
“Good. No sense being scared of things like this when there’s plenty other things to be scared of in the universe. Your healers didn’t have the knowledge or expertise we do.” He took the device back.
“ I’ve got so bad news for you. You are going to get Ill kiddo it’s an inevitability. Your going to get Ill and your going to get hurt and it’s going to be horrible and painful and suck at times but doctors are supposed to cure and help where they can. And where they can’t that’s why we have bright people who ask questions and look for new answers to solve new medical issues and cases no one else can. Don’t be scared of it be clever.”
He tilted her her to the side slightly using her chin and tapped a point on her neck. “Do it yourself. Right there. Feel the ridged surface on the hypo. Put it to that spot and press firmly on that. You’ll need to hold it there until the pressure releases and you might feel dizzy afterwards like your tilting.”
