After another few beats of being close enough for him to sense her slightly ragged breathing and racing heart beat and to feel her body trembling slightly against his, she released her hold on him and took a step back. A wicked grin came over her face as she pulled her ponytail over one shoulder to play with it. She fought to direct her attention to the table and then looked back to him with one carefully raised eyebrow.
“What’s for dinner?”
Ensign Lemann, Med
Nash could think of several things he wanted other than what was on the table, but she had made it clear in Sickbay, no date, just dinner. He smirked as he pushed himself off the wall and moved past her to the table, letting his hand touch her hip and his fingers follow her waistline over her dress as he passed slowly. He had no trouble with where his eyes should be, they were on her and her grin, her pose as she toyed with him.
Nash’s fingers felt electric on her waist as he passed her and her eyes deepened to a darker green as she watched him watch her. Suddenly, she was regretting her decision to agree to dinner instead of a full on date. It seemed so much more intimate than their first romp on the Holodeck and she was much more in her element sharing an activity with someone rather than a one on one meal. In fact, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d actually eaten dinner with a member of the opposite sex and suddenly, here she was.
“After last night, I think I owe you something good seeing as we skipped most of dinner and went straight to dessert,” he pulled the chair out from one side of the table enough for her to sit. “I don’t think you will have much reason to complain, lets see if I have you picked out shall we?”

A surge of disappointment coursed through Jess as Nash moved past her to pull out her chair. She appreciated the gentlemanly gesture, but she had hoped that they might have delayed the “getting to know you” part just a bit longer. She sauntered past him and slid gracefully into the chair, crossing her legs such that her dress slipped up slightly to show quite a bit more of her pale skin. Looking up at him, she slowly ran her tongue across her upper lip and then commented with a toss of her head, “I’m not a complainer, Commander.”

Waiting until she was seated, and watching the show she put on, appreciatively, he grinned widely and with one hand on the back of her chair leaned forwards and gently ran his fingertips along her knee and slightly up her leg so that it would cause ripples of goosebumps. Then he looked her in the eyes and gave her a soft kiss on the lips, holding it for just a teasing few seconds before softly pulling back. “I know, I found that out last night, Doctor Jessica.”
Jessica trembled lightly as his fingertips danced over his skin and her green eyes darkened slightly as his blue ones caught her gaze. She returned the soft kiss, but she couldn’t keep the slightly dejected look off her face as he pulled back just a mere few seconds later. Her hands immediately started to rise to pull him back down to her, but she bit her lip and firmly placed them in her lap. Dinner. This was just supposed to be dinner.
His eyes seemed to convey the humor in his smirk as he raised an eyebrow slightly and let it drop, then pulled back and moved to his chair. He didn’t take the chair opposite her, it was too far away so he took the chair next to her so he was at right angle to her instead of facing her. From here he began to take the lids off of the assorted dinner dishes that were keeping the food warm, and he pointedly didn’t touch the wine in the cool box in the middle of the table.
Jessica’s pout quickly disappeared as he started opening the food dishes and she leaned forward eagerly to take stock of her options. While her attention was clearly focused on him and the dinner options, her foot managed to sneak behind Nash’s leg so that she could gently rub the back of his calf.
He finished taking off the lids and stacked them out of the way to one side and then grinned at his dinner buddy. “Well, seeing as this isn’t a date, we have meat lovers pizza with barbeque sauce, mac and cheese with bacon and chorizo sausage, pasta salad, fried chicken and buffalo ribs.” He leaned forwards in the chair and opened a small box, taller than the food containers and took out two bottles, twisting the tops off and placing one down in front of Jessica. “Beer, to wash it down. If you really want we can open that wine but fair warning, I hate the stuff. It’s just there for decoration.” He picked up his own beer and gave her a wink, “Where shall we start?”
Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO
Jessica’s eyes lit up in a whole other way as he listed off the various dishes. She burst into a fit of giggles as she quickly responded, “I’m glad this isn’t a date then.” Reaching for the beer, she took a long drag, raising her eyebrow over the top of the bottle at him. “The doctor in me thinks that this should have a nice salad to go with it, but I suppose it’ll do,” she commented and then responded to his question by pointing at the pizza. “Pizza and beer is one of the most perfect combinations,” she observed, her delight in the dinner almost childlike. As she spoke, her foot continued to rub and up and down on Nash’s leg.
