M’Lene laughed out loud as her wine nearly sloshed over the edge of the glass. She quickly set it down on the table and put her hand to her mouth. “Please tell me I didn’t say that out loud?! I thought I’d dreamt that!” she exclaimed as she put her head in her hands and giggled uncontrollably, it seems the wine was starting to get to her as well. “Oh God, what else did I say?” she asked with a bit of trepidation as she put her hand on Jess’ arm. Tears of laughter were already forming in her eyes as she waited to see what else she had blurted out under sedation.

Jessica thought back for a moment and realized that her memory was altered by Nash’s unexpected arrival, her face blushing even more easily this time as she thought about him. Her mind began to wander to their second “date” that had occurred the evening before and she flushed even deeper, taking another sip of her wine and swirling it around in her mouth as she remembered, finally swallowing it as M’Lene’s form caught her attention again. She looked shocked briefly as she came out of her thoughts and then mumbled, “oh, you know, the usual… how delicious he was, how much you love him…” She started to giggle and then a look of remembrance came over her face.

M’Lene laughed out loud and shook her head. “Oh my word, no wonder he’s ignoring me!” she chuckled as tears of laughter filled her eyes. “Well that’s a little embarrassing…” she said sheepishly as she took another big gulp of wine then giggled again as she asked, “did he reply to me?”

“Oh, I forgot that I told Ensign Keene that she could join us… let me summon her. You’ll love her!”

=/\= Lemann to Keene. Come drink with usssss. =/\=

Sam stepped out of the turbolift and followed the corridor to Jessica’s quarters. Growing up with mostly her brothers, Ferengi, and various other scoundrels for company, she’d had a late introduction to the concept of ‘girls night’ at the hands of her Academy roommate. Those occasions had generally involved Kate getting them into trouble and Sam getting them out again but had been enjoyable to the point that Sam had missed them since graduation, not really hitting it off with any of the female officers at her last posting.

After her transfer to the Atlantis, she’d mostly spent her off duty hours tinkering with a few projects in a corner of one of the cargo bays and propping up the bar in ten forward. The results of one of those projects clanked against her hip as she walked, carried over her shoulder in a black hold-all.

She pushed the door chime and stepped inside, “Sorry I’m late, did I miss all the fun??”

Sam Keene - Engineering

While Jessica was starting to feel the warm effects of her wine consumption, she was still mostly with it when she ordered the computer to allow Keene to enter. Getting to her feet in a 90% steady manner, she made her way over to the cabinet to fetch another glass and held it up to Keene, pointing at the wine bottle with a questioning look on her face to see if the ensign wanted to partake with them.

“We’re just getting started,” she commented with a grin.

Ensign Lemann, Med

“Great!” Sam grinned back. She hung up the slightly oversized and battered leather jacket she’d been wearing over her plain vest top and pants and joined the others in the room.

“I brought along this for you guys to try if you’re getting bored of the wine and fancy trying something a bit ‘different’”

She unzipped the hold-all she was carrying and pulled out a largish metal canister that both the medic and scientist recognised as the type usually used to store hazardous biological materials. The sides were decorated with several warning labels including ‘flammable’ and ‘corrosive’, and the top was sealed with a numeric keypad.

“Just a little something I whipped up.... if the chief asks it’s cleaning solvent ‘k?” She started to punch the keypad buttons to open the canister then paused and glanced about.

“You haven’t got any naked flames in here have you? No candles or anything?”

Sam Keene - Engineering

Jessica laughed at Keene’s antics. “No flames here!” she replied with a grin. “Are you going to give us any clues as to your recipe or is this a choose your own adventure kind of thing?” she fired back, laughing already as the wine had lowered some of her boundaries.

M’Lene now nicely tipsy peered into the bottle and tapped on the side of it then shrugged her shoulders. “You’re only young once right?” she asked with a giggle. “Sorry, I’m M’Lene by the way,” she said as she extended her hand smoothly, her elbow now nicely anesthetized by drugs and alcohol.

“I don’t think we’ve met?” M’Lene added as she took a seat back on the sofa. “Jess was just filling me in on my drug induced inappropriate ramblings in sickbay,” she laughed.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

Sam awkwardly juggled the canister and tucked it under to her other arm in order to shake the extended hand.

“I’m Sam, I’ve been aboard a little while but I get to spend most of my time crawling around the Jeffries tubes, they don’t let me out very often.” She said with a grin, “Sorry to hear about your trip to sick bay, which was worse, the injury or the ramblings of Ol’ Doc Riley?”

M’Lene giggled as she finished the rest of her glass of wine and let out a satisfied sigh. “Oh, I don’t mind his ramblings, in fact, I quite like them…” she grinned as a mischievous twinkle in her eye. “Besides which, my interest in him is more…physical?” she laughed as she gave Jess a wink.

Jessica grinned at M’Lene slyly and gave her a knowing wink back. She wasn’t at all familiar with physical interest now, was she? She giggled lightly to herself as she emptied her wine glass as well, ready to see what the engineering ensign had brought for them.

She cracked open the canister, releasing a strong aroma that smelled somewhere between rubbing alcohol and a freshly mopped floor.

“Who is for a top up?”

Sam Keene - Engineer and bootlegger

M’Lene felt her eyes water as the aroma hit her sensitive feline nostrils. “Woah! That smells like one of my experiments gone wrong!” She coughed as she held out her glass. “But I like to live on the edge…” she concluded with a smirk, “…besides which, we’re in capable hands if it’s as lethal as it smells!” She added as she nodded to Jess with a grin.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

Jessica pet M’Lene softly on the back as she murmured, “that’s right, there’s a doctor present…”, holding out her glass for a sample of the foul smelling liquid. At least it would get them relaxing themselves a little faster than the wine, she thought with a giggle.

Ensign Lemann, Med

Sam poured out a shot sized helping for each of the others, just in case they reacted badly, and one slightly larger helping for herself..... she had some catching up to do after all and was probably going to be a bit more resistant to the results of the home brewed concoction, it was an old family recipe after all.

“Bottoms up!” She called, necking her own glass in one and pouring a refill.

The drink itself was surprisingly smooth given the strong aroma, mostly tasteless, slightly oily in texture, with just a hint of citrus. It packed a powerful wallop of an after kick though, a pleasant warming/burning quickly spreading down the throat.

“Oooo that’s the good stuff!” She declared, her voice slightly horse.

Sam Keene- Engineer

Jessica swirled the liquid around in her glass for a moment and glanced at it. She shrugged and tilted it into her mouth in one smooth move and then giggled ridiculously as the liquor slid down her throat.

“Wow, that’s actually pretty good!” She exclaimed, delighting in the warming sensation filling her throat and the rest of her body as the effects of the alcohol added to the wine that she had already consumed. The giggles struck her again and she held out her glass for a refill.

Ensign Lemann, Med

Bump

M’Lene gave the glass one last suspicious sniff then likewise shrugged her shoulders and knocked it back. She squeaked as she felt the potent liqueur hit the back of her throat and felt the warmth of it trickling down her throat. She blinked a few times as she waited for the alcohol to hit her system and then slowly smiled as she felt it mellow in her stomach. “Well it certainly drinks better than it smells!” she concluded and also waited for a refill.
