Having seen Ryley helping M’Lene to a boiled, Jessica made her way over to the two, keeping an eye on the biobed readouts. She had been about to fetch medication for the Caitan’s elevated blood pressure and pulse rate, but with whatever Ryley had administered thus far, she saw that they were slowly coming back down. Her eyes sympathetic, she placed a comforting hand on M’Lene, far away from the shattered arm and directed her attention to Ryley.

“How can I help, sir?”

Ryley looked up and shook his head, “just speak to her for a second.”

M’Lene instinctively reached for Jessica’s hand, she wasn’t sure what the doc was about to do but she had a feeling it wasn’t going to be pleasant and she was glad of the support. “Does it look bad doc?” She asked nervously.

Jessica wrapped her hand around the Caitan’s and used her thumb to stroke it comfortingly as she jostled Ryley slightly to peer at the tricorder readouts.

He sighed with a frown as though she were a pest but turned his tricorder towards her. There’re were three in built screens in Ryley’s personal tricorder, on showing something from a couple of different scans in a faster speed than standard and apparently cataloguing each scan. The bio bed readouts were displayed on the second and seemed to be updating as the bio bed changed. The third showed a small rotating scan of the join and the displacement.

“Well, you’ve certainly done a number on yourself, Lieutenant,” she said with a smile. “We’ll try to have you fixed up in no time at all and then you can get back to your usual antics. I arrived a bit late to the party… what exactly did you do to cause this?” Jessica hoped to keep the CSO talking a bit to both monitor her well-being as well as distract her from whatever Ryley was going to do next. And sure, she was also a little nosy and wanted to know what the heck had happened to lead to quite a bit of damage.

Ryley was gently probing the elbow and checking the capillary refill on the scientists fingers. He then pressed his index and middle finger to the base of her wrist. He watched her as he continued to manually examine the arm and test for sensation.

M’Lene sighed, still not entirely sure what had happened herself. “I was doing some gymnastics practice and I think I had a brain freeze during a triple twist. I got disorientated and opened out or twisted the wrong way I think…” she shuddered as she recalled the accident. “I remember seeing the mat approaching fast and I figured it was better to put my hand out than land on my face…I’m not so sure now…” she added quietly as the numbness began to creep further up her arm. She absent mindedly touched her cheek that had also collided with the mat after she’d landed on her arm. She gasped and winced as she did so, clenching her jaw. She hadn’t really noticed anything other than the intense pain in her arm but now that had eased off a bit from the medication she was starting to notice some more aches and pains. She got the impression she was going to be sore for a few days after they fixed her up.

Finished his exam Ryley loaded another hypo and held it up to the light. “Ok Kitty Kat. So the bad news is your arms broken and your elbows dislocated and the bad bad news is that it’s pressing on the nerve and decreasing blood flow to your hand.” He paused looking ponderous, “I guess the bad bad bad news is that unless I fix it, like, now. That damage is going to be permanent. The bad bad bad bad news is I’m going to do a closed reduction and that’s going to hurt like hell.”

M’Lene bit her lip nervously, the thought of losing the use of her hand took her by surprise and it scared the hell out of her. She clenched her jaw and a tear rolled down her cheek as she took it in. “Wait, what do you mean hurt like hell?!” She asked in a panicked voice, looking between the two doctors for an answer.

He pressed the hypo to her neck. “The very very good news is you’re going to be so off your face in about three seconds you’ll not care about anything I just said till after the reduction.” He released the large dose into her system and removed the hypospray. “Welcome to conscious sedation. Population you.”

M’Lene’s breathing quickened and she tried to hold back her tears for about 2 seconds before the sedation hit her like a freight train. Her eyes suddenly went wide and a warm grin appeared on her face. A feeling of euphoria spread through her body and she started to giggle. “…my insides feel like honey…am I flying…?” she asked, starting to slur, oblivious to the fact that she was now dribbling on her shirt. She giggled again as she stroked Ryley’s arm with her good hand. “Ya know doc…you have the nicest arse I’ve ever shheeeen…” she added, “I think I’d like to squeeeeee…” she continued before devolving into a fit of giggles.

“Sure Kitty Kat.” Ryley said patting her offhandedly in a thoroughly condescending manner and slowly removed his arm from her. “I think you’ve done enough damage to that arm without the other having a run in with my cane don’t you?” He asked as he checked her pulse.

M’Lene chuckled again and nodded in mock sincerity. “I suppose so…” she added with a smile. “Spoil sport…” she muttered under her breath and scowled.

The greying older doctor gave a minute or so for the drugs to take effect then carefully began to manipulate the elbow back in place by pulling down on M’Lene’s wrist. “Ok....” He said watching her and flashing a warning glance at Jess. “Ready....one three....one.....two…” He went on two levering her elbow back into place with a loud pop sound.

The pop in her elbow shattered the warm and cosy feeling instantly and she screeched in pain as she instinctively swung her good arm, claws out, towards Ryley’s head.

Ryley stepped to the side and managed to get himself mostly out of the way.
, he was pretty spry it seemed for a crippled old guy. One claw however caught the edge of his neck and shoulder leaving a superficial scratch that stood out in the open collar of his shirt. “Ouch.” He muttered and scowled but didn’t let go of her arm.

The pain radiated through her body like an electric shock and she promptly vomited on the deck. “Sorry about that…” she cried, “oh god, please tell me that was it…?” She whimpered, suddenly feeling very sorry for herself. With the broken bones grinding against each other and her arm tensed from the manipulation, her body began to quiver and she struggled to catch her breath.

Ryley watched the vomiting and raised his eyebrows. “Huh…” He said interest colouring his tone. “Now that’s interesting…I gave you mouth anti nausea stuff in that mix to deal with like thirty rollercoaster rides and a go on the waltzers…good to know.” He moved around the puddle and scanned the elbow again to ensure the reduction had been successful. “Princess get a triox compound and some Hydrocortilene” He checked the pulse and sensation again in the wrist then the capillary refill.

M’Lene sighed wearily and shrugged her good shoulder. “What can I say doc, I guess I’ve got a bit of a week stomach?” She offered. The scans showed that her elbow was back in place and the circulation as returning.

Finished Ryley picked up an Osteogenic Stimulator and began to run the device over the fractures. “You ever have a reaction to Metorapan treatments before?” He asked looking up at her.

As the pain started to ease off a bit she shook her head, “not that I know of doc, I don’t think I’ve ever had it…” she replied, trying to recall the last time she had injured herself. The pain had dulled from the medication and now she just felt clammy and exhausted. She smiled weakly at Ryley & Jess. “Thank you both…” she said softly. “You know you’re not so bad…” she added looking at Ryley as her eyes began to droop with fatigue.
