Walking over Ryley leaned on his cane and raised his eyebrows. He didn’t make eye contact nearly stared at his fathers back out of ear shot as they were. “What?” He asked.

Mardusk interposed his bulk between Ryley and his parent’s blocking the view in each direction. In a carefully lowered voice he said “You okay, Doc? This doesn’t seem to be the happy-happy-joy-joy family reunion. I can always pull the fire alarm if you need an out, you know… And I have more beer.”

Ryley seemed slightly amused at the concern. He gave a weak smirk. “ Happy happy joy joy isn’t exactly my family type. We are more the painfully awkward my father hates me my mother is in the middle sort of family. So thanks for the offer but I’ll offload them shortly and it’ll be fine.” He said seriously.
