Posted by… suppressed (3) by the Post Ghost! 👻Kelly walked into her quarters to find Ian looking quite perplex staring at the door frame she just entered. “Stop,” she held up her hand. “Before you tell me what little problem you are concerned over I have a far bigger one. Apparently, my heart rate and respiration increase when I am around you and we have been spending way too much time alone in the holodeck. Mardusk thinks you are parking the family Plymouth every ten minutes in the holodeck so I covered for us by saying you were creating a crew event grand enough to occupy them until we can get to a place for shore leave,” Kelly said flopping on the couch and propping her feet up on the coffee table. It concerned her some that Mardusk seemed to be overly interested in her personal life but she could deal with that if it became a problem.
Ian gave her an eye as she spoke, he was slightly amused but he didn’t really think this was going to top his news at all. “Oh, so the not so obvious, but obvious all the same time thing is known? Kel baby come on, do you really think people wouldn’t find out eventually?” Ian said as he shook his head at her.
“Ian, we knew going into this some there might be some sticky situations but I think we need to come out so to speak,” Kelly announced looking at Ian from across the room. “Gossip mongering and secrets can create instability. The crew does not need to know the details of our personal lives. The crew also needs to understand I am not going to Picard it and act like I am happy being a cloistered nun at the Atlantis Monastery.”
“Hey… you are the one who said you wanted to be nun, now if all you meant was you want to slip into a habbit with thigh high heels then I am more than happy to help you with that.” Ian said, he took a small breath though in as he looked at her. All joking aside, this wasn’t the least of their concerns.
Kelly took a long look at Ian. He was everything she needed for a fresh start. She was willing to roll the dice and see what happened. Kelly just needed to know Ian was on the same page.
Captain Kelly Shultz
“Okay, so if you want to also be open, boy do I have good news for you.” he said as he looked behind him, the framed certificate on her desk as he walked over and grabbed. Handing it to her he let her soak in the the wording.
“Ian,” Kelly’s voice held a hint of nervous anticipation to it. “Why does this say we are married? I didnt show up in white and my hand is suspiciously free of any ring so this has to be a joke. You know one of those corny gag things like Most likely to succeed or Best Athlete certificate.” The more she watched Ian’s face as she spoke, the more an icy knot began to form in her tummy. “Ian....we can not be married. There is no way this is official. Hell that planet was not even a federation member yet so how can this be legal?”
“I already verified it’s authenticity, what do I always say? Read the damn fine print at all times. It’s super simple, don’t rush off from a signed document ever!” Ian said with an almost exsaperated look. He wasn’t even sure how to handle this.
“You mean the liability wavier we signed leaving Opal’s class?” Kelly was not a dumb woman but so far none of this made any sense.
“Ian,” Kelly’s voice began to take on a more urgent tone, “You we’re across the rooooooom. There was no holding hands. There were no vows. There is no way that guantlet was a trip down the aisle,”. she pointed out the obvious. “No one in their right mind would see that as a wedding,” she began to argue with him. Standing up she closed the distance between her and Ian. “I’m serious. Even if we wanted this to be real no one will believe it.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Bordeaux, well if you start going by that now no one is going be in doubt!”Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
“Ian the ink is not even dry on the divorce from my last marriage,” Kelly replied beginning the pace the room. “HR is going to think I am bat shot crazy when I try to tell them that I got married right in the middle of my divorce from from Richard. “.
“Yes because this was my goal all along.” Ian said as he looked a bit exasperated. “Look I like you a lot, a WHOLE lot but marriage is a bit too fast, we have been together for only two weeks!” he said feeling himself get flustered. He needed to keep his mind cleared, he wasn’t any good if he panicked.
Kelly stared at him hard. “Kels baby it is not like we have only known each other for a few days,” she imitated his voice and the conversation they had in bed at the resort after the yoga class. “Hon, I stand by you come what may not matter what,” she imitated his voice again and this time did a pose of his posture to accompany it. Letting out a disgusted sigh kelly dropped the pose and rubbed her forehead. Dammit Dante you told me I was going to have to make the hard decisions about aggressors and alien societies crazy socio-political agendas but never about what my last name is going to be, she continued the rant to herself.
Pacing the room Kelly blurted out a single sentence as the shock of this revelation was becoming more real. “Okay so we get it annulled. Tonight. Your mom is a lawyer. Have her draft a letter and we can sign it and be done with it,”
The reply as instant and a gut reaction. Tensions were high in the room for both of them. She might have been imitating him but she doubted he had not done the same when he first saw the documents. His tirade about signing documents proved that.
“Yes, but I am not bringing my mom in this.” Ian said, he wasn’t even ready to tell his parents he was in a steady relationship, let alone one with his captain.
“You’re right. You’re right. This news will not ingratiate your family to me come Christmas time. We need a more neutral party.” Kelly put her hands on her hips as she tried to find a solution.
=/\= Bridge get me a secure line back to the JAG office in San Francisco’=/\= Kelly said after tapping her comm badge.
Captain Kelly Shultz
“Really JAG? This place is some backwards resort in no mans space, they can’t even be legal outside of their district.” Ian said, feeling like this was going way too far.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
“Yes but I am not going to have you and I stuck in some possibly legal arrangement that can come back and bite us in the arse Ian,” Kelly said a bit desperate herself. Looking at a ceremonial dagger on the wall Kelly got an idea. An insanely stupid one but an idea. “Give me a few days,” she said to Ian in a gentle tone. “I know a guy or girl in this case. She understands discretion and how to get a job done. It will be selling my soul to Adams but.” Licking her lips, Kelly proceded in Captain mode.
Ian sighed and looked at her, “I will do it.” he said finally, he knew friends of his mother that might discrete. Standing up he came over to her and he pulled her close. “I should have read more, it’s my job to always make you look good and I will handle it. Don’t worry Kel, okay. Seriosuly I will handle it.” Ian said, his nerves calming down as he felt more comfortable in this situation. Kissing her forehead he let go and paced a bit as he began to think which friend of his mother he could blackmail to not tll her. “Henry… Henry Patterson is the man who will solve this, give me 24 hours and this will all be done. You worry about your ship I’ll worry about us sweetie.”
“You and I just need to act like nothing has changed. We go to work, attend meetings, and maybe have dinner in the mess hall tomorrow. I heard it is Spaghetti Wednesday. Not a good as Taco Tuesday but,” she let her voice trail off as she moved around Ian to her desk. “Did you get those promotions signed,” she asked pretending to scour herr neat as a pin desk for the PaDD’s that obviously weren’t there.
Captian Kelly Shultz
“Of course, like I already told you before… this will be over soon.” he said with a wink.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
“No, I am your Captain. I got this,” Kelly said looking up at him from her chair. “I was the one who forced you into matrimonial bliss and I am going to be the one to divorce you. I’m ordering you to stand down.”
Captian Kelly Shultz
“Look at you being cute, hon this is a private personal matter. Your power ends when you agreed to get in bed with me in matters like this. You worry about your ship I will worry about us. I am not going to let something like this ruin one of the best things that has ever happened to me” Ian said, clearly not taking her plea serious, knowing full well where her powers began and ended.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
“I agree one hundred percent. I don’t want something like an accidental marriage to muck things up. That is why I will see to this matter. Besides, we are currently on duty and I outrank you Lt. You are dismissed. I will handle this,” Kelly said nodding towards the door. It was a delicate balance of power between them. They had spent a weekend with her letting Ian control of the daily routine. While she enjoyed someone else making the decisions, now it was time to get back to reality. Kelly sat at her desk and picked up a stylus. Not looking up she said simply, “Do you need something Lt. Bordeaux,” when the familiar swish of the pneumatic door did not indicate he left.
Captain Kelly Shultz
“Hon, it’s Saturday. I don’t have a shift today without an emergency, and this isn’t a ship emergency. So, you can drop the Lieutenant, and I need you to trust me. I am not going to let for one second anything hurt you or us.” Ian said as he came over to her desk as he sat on the edge. “This is going to be a two way street, and you are going to need to give me control. You think you can give up some control puppy?” Ian said softly as he looked at her, clearly playing her some but deep down he was very sincere. Off duty or on, he would never let a thing ever hurt her.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
God your smiling is killing me Small, Kelly thought looking at Ian. He was good for her. He tended to calm and center her when she was bouncing off the walls. In her personal life, she was a hot mess, wrapped in disaster covered with a thick sauce of chaos. On the bridge, she was seemed to know what the call should be. Albeit it might not be the right call in some circles, but command decisions about the ship came fast and from her gut. With Ian she had a hard time figuring out if she should come or go at times. He made life fun and interesting.
“You didn’t hear me complaining last night,” she said biting the end of the stylus. It only took a second however for her to realize she was veering off course. More like veering off the cliff of logic and into the chasm of ‘okay we have got to stop doing this every time you look at me that way.”
“No I did not, but that’s not what I am talking about. I am not here to just give you a good time… what have is important to me. I am not going to get it cocked up cause of some crazy ass resort.” Ian said as he let his hand rest on top of hers for a minute.
Moving back as far as she could in the seat to get as much distance between her and Ian, Kelly cleared her throat. “Ian, I can’t have this getting out. If the crew knew that you are I are divorcing before they found out we were married....I don’t even want to think about that or what it could do to my credibility. I know I said I would not get married again but I think there is a law against filing for two divorces at the same time,” she said in a slightly sarcastic but humorous tone. “I just need this to be discreet.”
Captain Kelly Shultz
Getting from the edge of the desk Ian moved closer to her and leaned in as he kissed her lips, leaning in before smiling widely at her as he did so. “Love, no one is going to find out. I promise, I am not going to let anyone hurt you.” he said as gave her a small wink.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
Kelly let the kiss wash over her. Even though they had just decided to become something, when he kissed her like that, it felt like it was always everything. “Well I guess the worst thing that could happen is I get fired and then spend the next twenty years in a junior officer’s quarters watching you make a name for yourself,” she propped up her feet on either side of his hips pinning him between her legs as he stood in front of her chair.
“That is the worst, but I am never going to let it happen.” he said as he leaned in, taking each of her hand in his own as he spread her hands apart, letting her keep him in between her. As he did he leaned in, kissing down her neck as he pressed up tight against her.
Kelly cleared her throat and closed her eyes. God don’t stop. A little more to the right. Oh God yes right there, her mind coached him where to kiss her neck. She loved when he found that spot just below her ear at her jawline. The feeling of his lips there and his breath cascading down the back of her neck was intoxicating to her; however, sometimes one had to know when to say when and sober up. Pushing him back slightly, Kelly had to break the mood before the mood turned into her saying the words computer lock door.
“You know that was not a very strategically sound maneuver Mr. Bordeaux?” This time the use of his formal name had a teasing quality to it. “I appear to keep trapping you over and over again. First with coffee service. Then with marriage. Be careful because next time it could be with a baby carriage,” Kelly spoke in the sing-song tune of the classic kids nursery rhyme.
Captain Kelly Shultz
As she said that the kissing stopped as he pulled back, getting a chance to look directly in her eyes. “Maybe I should get a second condom.” he said we a wide smirk before leaning back in, clearly not caring one way or the other. He felt at ease and peace with Kelly. Ian was someone who worked hard and played hard, but having a lover he was laid back and didn’t try to expect too much but just have fun and enjoy each other made his life so much easier.
“Besides, having a little you running around wouldn’t be the worst thing I can think of,” he said softly in her ear as he nibbled on it before he let go of her hands and gave her a little room to move from being pinned under him.
“Oh yes let’s add child custody to the divorce proceedings and make it a trifecta of marriage, divorce, and co-parenting,” she teased. Still, the idea of having a baby was a hot button for her. Secretly she had always wanted kids but the timing was always off with her and Richard. For years they had tried and went through the peaks and valleys of her wanting one when he didn’t, he wanting one when she didn’t and trying but not succeeding. Now Ian was talking about it or maybe just teasing. Either way, she couldn’t deny she wanted kids but had to accept that it would probably never be in the cards for her, hence the flippant remark.
Finding his hands slowly exploring other regions though it was less about freeing her and more about leverage to explore amble mounds.
Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat
A small moan escaped her lips as Ian found the spot again along her neck and jaw working it like a pro while his hands did things that made her dizzy. While they had spent a lot of time learning how to get each other from zero to sixty in under three seconds flat during shore leave, Kelly did find it surprising, Ian used all of his education as a tactile advantage during certain moments. Sure there was the teasing kiss but right now, she knew Ian had set his mind on a task and no matter what anyone ever said about Ian Bordeaux, no one could say he wasn’t a go-getter when he set his mind to accomplishing a task. She had to find a way to distract him or the rest of the day would be shot. It was not a bad way to spend a Saturday but with nothing on her schedule and neither of them on duty for another 18 hours, Kelly needed to get something accomplished besides not leaving her quarters.
“Or maybe I should get some of the paperwork you have flooded me with while you check out that new game of MLB: Federation series. Weren’t you traded to the Vulcan Vultures for three-quarters of a million credits last time you played,” she tried to bring up this weeks gaming passion. For as mature and responsible as her yeoman was, he was like all men, like a teenager when someone brought out the F-Box. Ian had recently gotten the newest version of the popular gaming system sold by IFEA. When he was not on duty or indisposed, you could often find him with a frosty beverage, plunked down on the couch playing one of the hundred games he owned.
