The flight from the Atlantis to Katla’s destination was expeditious. The fleet hovering at the edge of the Atlantis was numerous orbs much like the Beacon of Light the Elders previously arrived on. The Union’s ships were large metallic silver orbs without any visible features. The most resembled blobs of mercury except for the faintish of blue hues around the edges. Katla held her breath as they passed through the small port on the side of the ship. The inky blackness of space was replaced by an alpine like landscape. It was not pure ice and snow but a cross between a tundra and taiga with large glacial ice floes and patches of conifer like trees. The sky above the arctic city shimmered with bands of green and violet light reminiscent of an aurora borealis. Beneath it, massive crystalline towers rose from the icy fjord, their foundations embedded in basalt cliffs as if shaped by ancient volcanoes. The towers pulsed with quiet energy, their sides etched with glowing runes which were more dynamic data-streams than static messages.

As they moved through the airspace headed to a landing zone, more detailed images became apparent. A lone figure stood at a railing wearing a heavy coat trimmed in white fur with the sigils on glowing on the back. These sigils were not religious but technical. If one could read the sigils, they would see they contained coded identifications linking the ancestry and purpose of the individual’s wearing them.

After long moment’s of letting Peter soak in the vista’s, Katla spoke. “This is a representation of Niflheim, our home world. We call this place Sjófararnir Níu. We name all our ships this that go on long voyages far from our home.” She looked at Peter waiting for his thoughts on what he saw.

Peter stared at the surroundings with interest “It’s lovely” He said honestly “I grew up in cities but we had countrysides not to dissimilar to this. Though less alien I suppose” He said with a soft chuckle.

“Let’s go get something to eat. It’s our custom to feed anyone that enters anywhere,” she laughed. “Would it be too forward if we went to my family’s house or would you prefer a restaurant?”

Katla

Peter inclined his head “It wouldn’t be forward at all” He said with an easy smile. A restaurant meant more eyes and a more public setting; if he was to get a chance to ingratiate himself with his counterpart, then the more personal the better. He was mildly amused that they had restaurants on this ship; it seemed they had similar ideas as Starfleet did about creating city ships, only on a bigger scale… with a little more genocide and religious zealotry, but still impressive. He tossed away his original thoughts on how to tackle this foe; it’d require a full Section to take down this fleet, and large-scale intelligence operations never went well as the Obsidian order learned decades ago. This would require finesse and a deeper understanding of these people, and potentially upending their society. He hoped the others got his warning about not giving Earth information away. If his theory was correct, then these extragalactic humans could possibly be brought back into the fold. “Please, lead the way.”
