Ash looked at Tyler and gave a small shrug and a half hearted smile.

“How’d you do it exactly can you remember? And can you repeat those items?” Ryley asked making another note on his PaDD.

Tyler thought about it for a moment, his face kind of scrunched up as he concentrated and searched his own memory. Finally he let out a small sigh and shook his head.

“No, I can’t remember the details,” He said dejectedly. “But the items you mentioned were a biobed, warp core and rabbit.”

Ryley watched him and made a note on the PaDD again. “Interesting…can you count backwards from 20 for me?” He asked as again he looked though the file and the details recorded.

Ooc: James any extra information or would Tyras scans show anything?

OOC: Scans just show what’s already in Tyler’s file. The virus had been identified previously, but with no known name or cure provided.

Tyler gave Ash an eye roll, and then slowly began counting backwards. “Twenty… Nineteen… Eighteen… Seventeen…” He paused, looking over towards Ryley. “You’re really going to make me go through all this aren’t you?”

“Yup.” Ryley said without looking up from the PaDD. “ Old fashioned but effective, the Mini-Mental State Exam or MMSE, is a short but very useful test that assesses a lot of different abilities.”

“He looked up then, “For example the question about the date and where you were demonstrates orientation, the objects which I’d like you to repeat for me again now is to demonstrate memory skills. The numbers are concentration. In a few minutes I’m going to get you to name some objects and do a tongue twister for me to demonstrate your language abilities and then I’m going to make you do a fancy test with some flashing lights to look at your motoskills all while the tricorder monitors your brain function.”

He puffed air from one cheek to the next thoughtfully “that being said the MMSE is not sensitive enough to pick up on subtle problems in thinking and memory. Nor does it probe any one aspect of mental functioning in depth or distinguish among memory disorders. So for that I’m going to have to do a full neurological series.” He grinned as if this were Christmas.

Tyler let out a small groan, running a hand through his hair. Then he began counting again starting from sixteen all the way backwards down to zero.

“I honestly feel fine,” Tyler said. “I just get these ongoing headaches and when I think back to the past, there’s a lot of blank spaces.”
