Gilly had finished stowing her ruck sack and the few personal belongings that she brought with her in her quarters. They were definitely more spacious that what she had been used to. It was a nice change. Making her way to the medical bay, Gilly took in her surroundings. She had heard many good things about the Atlantis and was excited to see how she worked first hand. She couldn’t do that until she had made the rounds to the powers that be. Stepping into the medical bay she waited for one of the medical staff to be free.gilly
“Lieutenant Adams,” Rinker called out picking up the next patient on the PaDD. It was a change from his last job assignment in counseling. There someone came knocking at his door at a set time. This was more a revolving door but the change of pace was not a bad thing.

Gilly smiled “Commander, thank you for accepting my appointment in such short notice.” She said as she stepped forward “Lt Gillian Adams reporting for her onboarding physical.” She said
Adams (Marine)
“Nice to meet you. Bed three,” he gestured for her to take a seat. “Anything that’s been bothering you? Breathing, Body, Sensations…”

She walked over to Bed three and took a seat, handing her medical file to the good doctor. He was another one that could only access part of her records. Many of her medical records were redacted and looked as if someone had gone through with a black sharpie and colored on all of the pages. The important things were accessible, the rest was up for speculation. Gillian knew her medical history by heart. Each and every scar carried a story and some days she wished that there were people she could share those stories with but classified was classified.
She looked at the CMO “Everything is current in the file. I apologize for the coloring book that has been made, I will answer what questions I can but specifics are off limits other than the specifics of the injuries and the treatment received.” She said giving her usual speil.

Rinker glanced at the file and let out a small frown. It was not directed to his patient but more those not involved in the medical profession. It was not Gilly’s fault her medical file read like an ancient telegraph with broken sentences and only the barest of information being presented. The one thing that always remained, no matter how enlightened a government, was its love of bureaucracy that complicated everyone’s life. “How about we do this verbally,” he suggested. “It will save time from me asking every question under the sun. Give me a synopsis of all the redacted stuff,” he stated.

Gilly understood the frustrated frown “Yeah..apparently the Marines don’t like to share information.” She said “Let’s start at the top and work our way around. During a mission, I was clearing a building and was hit in the right shoulder by a phase rifle. The usual burns and hole, it did take a small chunk of bone but has healed. Right ribs have been broken more times than I can count, some from missions and some from me just being stupid and thinking I’m invinciable in sports…take your pick. I also have a phaser wound to both right and left flanks of my abdomen, again a mission that went south quickly. I have fractured my right ankle twice, my left leg once and multiple cuts bruises and other odds and ends. I do have a scar on the side of my head from a training accident, I was tossed off and 20’ ledge and landed on my head. ” She thought for a moment “That could explain a few things…” She gave him a wry smile “If you need more information, I will get you clearance for the rest of the file. The swiss cheese that I just handed you is essentially worthless to anyone in this medical bay. And to be fair, prior to my transferring here.....I went the rounds with our lead doc on base and told him that it needed to be declassified. I mean honestly, I don’t think you give two hoots about where the missions were, what they were about or anything else.”
“Security and Marines do like their black stylus,” he joked back agreeing with her about the redacted information.
She looked at Rinker “I’m also going to let you know, that I see it as my duty to make sure all of my teams get back and I will stand in the line of fire to make sure that happens.” She looked at the various scars on her hands and forearms “I also don’t back down from a fight. If I do something stupid, I am the first one to admit it. But as the Corps motto has been for millennia “First ones in, last ones out. Devil Dogs, hounds of war that are loosed when all else has failed.” She was thoughtful for a moment “I like to think of us as the nuclear option to the nuclear option when push comes to shove.”
Adams
“Well if you can make my job easier and put some shielding between you and the oncoming enemy as you cover their retreat.” His tone was pleasant enough but held a hint of seriousness. “The Marine contingent is damn tough. In the internment camp during the Dominion War, they held strong and got the brunt of attention at times.”
