Jen and the ensign departed the bridge taking the emergency tube down. Each step presented a numb pain about his knee but he was able to nurse that one the short distance. “What’s your name, Ensign?” he asked as his feet touched down on deck 2. The bay was aft but here the deck was simply not that big. Waiting for the ensign to join him he squinted through the emergency lighting down along the dim corridor.“Ensign Peligrini,” responded the ensign, their human heritage evident not only in appearance but also in the lilt of their voice, which subtly hinted at origins from the Italian region.
When he heard the soft fall of the Ensign he began the march, albeit with a limp, toward the aft area and the Bay 1 Control Room. From there he could take the internal personnel lift down or stairs. He just needed in to see what could be done. “What’s your specialty, Ensign?” he asked. There wasn’t much on Deck 2 and he didn’t expect to see anyone here. Diplomatic hall, bridge support systems, holo projection .. it would be a surprise to see anyone as they made their way along the slightly curved corridor and trying not to pay too much attention to the creaking sounds about them.
- Jen, XOOOC: Moving this right along ..
IC:
With a screech the two of them pried the doors to the Bay 1 Control room open just enough to slip through. As expected most of the consoles were dark. What Jen was looking for was beyond through the room observation window to the Bay deck below. Four armadillos and two runabouts. Something must be in working order even if they couldn’t get outside. Well, where there was a will there was a way and if they had to make a hole in the doors to get out in order to see they would. “Can you bring up any of the bay controls?” he asked the Ensign as he studied the six craft below.
- Jen, XOOOC: Apologies I missed this!
The ensign nodded thoughtfully, a determined look in her eyes. “If the power being generated isn’t being fully consumed, we should be able to reroute some of it to activate the consoles,” she said, tapping her fingers on the panel in front of her. “However, opening doors and getting a shuttle out might pose another challenge entirely. The docking mechanisms and shuttle bay doors require a significant amount of power, and given our current situation, it’s going to be tricky.”
Jen thought that there were always ways around that but one thing at a time. In this event there weren’t options for skipping steps too quickly. “One step at a time. We’re taking the hill closest to us, not the one in the distance.” That being said, if there was a time to be quick it was now with possible intruders getting aboard. The upside was that if there were intruders with beaming technology then that would have been done already rather than the laborious and noisy way of cutting through the hull.
She paused, glancing at the officer beside her. “But it’s not impossible. If I can manage to reroute the power efficiently, we might just be able to pull it off.” Her voice was filled with a mix of determination and cautious optimism. “Want me to start?” she asked, her hands already hovering over the controls, ready to spring into action.

USS Atlantis“Do it,” he said. “I’m going down to determine if I can get any of those craft going.” With that he exited out the way and down the ladder, not trusting the lift to have power to it. He may check for the way up, however.
-Jen, XOPelegrini got to work immediately, finding herself an inner console she quickly removed the maintenance hatch below and started the rerouting sequence it wasn’t as bad as she thought because once she was able to tap into the jerry-rig power circuit the dim emergency lights flickered slightly and then the main lights in the shuttle bay illuminated her and the Commander. The console above beeped, and a single bar began progressing indicating that she had rerouted enough to gain access. “I have it! She shouted.
It also seemed that by the time it took the XO to get to the bottom of the Ladder, the efforts of rerouting power to the shuttle bay activated the lift which landed with a soft hiss of compressed air the same time the XO’s foot would touch the floor.

USS AtlantisJen gave the lift a look that said, in effect, ‘beat you by a hair’ .. then he looked up to Pelegrini and gave her the thumbs up. Now that he could see better he turned his attention to the runabouts first. He would prefer one of those. Larger. Better equipped. More fortified. And armed. Moving toward them he went to see what was up with them …
=^= Bridge, Jen. We have some power in the Shuttle Bay. I’m inspecting the runabouts now. =^=
As he approached he received a call …
^= Lee to Commander th’Jir. Sir we’re at the breach. It’s Narvhalarians. Five of them. Your orders? =^=
That was quick. They must have been spotted. Good sensors on the Narvhalarians, Jen thought. If there are only five it was hardly an invasion force - unless more were coming. Better be safe than sorry.
=^= Defend if attacked. The UT has their language. Determine intent. If they are there to help see how they might help. I’ll contact the bridge. Jen out. =^=
=^= Jen to Bridge. Captain, five Narvhalarians have breached the hull on Deck 29. Marines are present. I might suggest we have an improvised first contact here that may be better suited for you than a squad of marines. =^=
- Jen, XOPelegrini listened form above, “Commander whats happening? I heard something about attackers, should we go help?” She asked not really sure what to do now.

=^= On my way. Advise me if there are any further attempts to breach the hull =^= Jen replied to the bridge after a quizzical look of wth was going on.
“I’ll go,” Jen said, heading for the exit and thence to a lift. “You continue to 1. Find power to open those doors and 2. Define one of these craft as spaceworthy. We’re not moving right now, have limited eyes and we are sitting ducks. What you are doing might be that which saves us. Keep me updated.”
With that Jen headed out as quickly as his hip and knee would allow him to join up with the marines on deck 29.
