Aurra had just stepped off the lift when the ship was hit by the energy wave. Unprepared for the impact, she was thrown off her feet and landed on her chest and face. Sitting up, she took inventory of any injury that might have occurred. The only thing was a headache from the jolt of slamming forward and a bloody, bottom lip where her teeth had punctured it.

The doctor arose immediately and ran for the med kit that was kept on the bridge. “Doctor Talisse here—let me know if you are injured…” She spared a look for the Captain while making her way to Buckingham. The tricorder was already in her hand running a scan on his possible injuries. “Your nose is broken and your shoulder is dislocated. Let me help you.”

—Talisse, CMO

Peter shook his head “I can set my nose and stuff it and my shoulder can wait” He’d dislocated that shoulder before and putting it back in place could wait until more serious injuries were dealt with. He used the back of his right-hand sleeve to wipe the blood from his face “Please see if anyone else needs help first” It would take time to safely put his arm back into its socket, it was better than a fracture he’d first thought although he’d not be using the hand for some time.

The doctor gave him a nod and moved around the bridge looking for those that needed medical help.

As the wave hit Jen’s first thought was ‘Standing is not a good idea’. Then he was tumbling about the bridge not unlike a tumbleweed before coming to an abrupt and painful halt against a rear bulkhead. He was sure he blacked out briefly as he didn’t remember more but when he next was aware he was just behind the command level chairs and railing. His head throbbed and his left arm was ablaze enough for him to hiss with pain. Both hips were sore and his right knee was unhappy with him. He saw flashing lights and flickers of flame. Smells that should not be on the bridge were there mixing in his nostrils like one of his mothers in law’s cooking.

“Ship status!” he called out but it was more like a croak. Pushing himself up to a sitting position with his good hand he said again, “Status Report!”

He heard the doctor’s voice but had trouble seeing her in the firelight. While he could work his injured arm he was sure it wasn’t broken but it wasn’t right and was swelling. Humans talked about bruising being black and blue .. were that so for an Andorian few would notice but he would have a fine mix of yellow and black he was sure. “Captain?” he called out.

Moving to a console he tried to bring it to life and call up some ship’s status. What had happened?! If that had happened to them, what did it do to the alien’s world? To the Romulans? They were like a bad slip. Always showing up when you didn’t want them.
- Jen, XO

“Yeah,” Kelly groaned out wincing at the sound of her own voice. She felt a dull throb along with wetness running down her cheek. She was obviously not crying but reaching up to the spot, she felt a slippery sensation. It had to be blood. Using her sleeve, Kelly pushed her uniform into the wound trying to apply pressure and stop the bleeding. “Just a scratch,” she commented getting off the ground by pulling herself up from the edge of the console she must have flown into.

“I’ll be the judge of that, Sir.” Talisse called as she stood from setting a broken wrist. “Don’t move your wrist or hand until you get to sickbay and they can get the bone knitter on you.” she said to the crewman she’d just treated.

The security station didn’t have a chair, the OOD there moving around quite a bit. So as the wave approached, Mardusk clenched his jaw and held onto the console tight.

It helped, but not much.

As the ship was thrown violently around, his grip gave way and he was thrown backwards, his momentum only being stopped by the turbolift doors. There was a flash of pain… and then nothing. The giant Orion laid face-first on the deck, unconscious.

Marduk, CoS

Elbbirt was watching the science station as the ship went to warp in one of the pull out chairs below the consile. The chairs however were meant to move freely so they weren’t anchored. The chair flung back into the station and then toward the tactical station. When the pitching stopped he pulled himself up to standing

The bridge was pitch black. Power seemed to be down, or least the consoles were blown. There would be no readings. Sparks were flying and fires were starting. He stumbled his way over to an emergency storage locker and opened it. He grabbed a flashlight and turned it on and glanced around the bridge. Jen, Talisse, and Sigmundsson were all standing. Mardusk was… was face down and not moving. He stepped towards him to check him. “Cmdr Mardusk is down and unconscious. I’m afraid to move him until you check him, Doctor.”

“Coming…just a second…” Stepping over debris, she made her way over to where the big Orian lay out cold. She squatted down next to him and ran a tricorder over his frame. (OOC: sny particular injuries you want to have?)

(OOC: Couple of broken ribs, bruised spine, really wicked concussion, and a couple of broken ribs on both sides seems to be a good cross-section of him getting tossed like a rag doll into an unyielding bulkhead.)

Finishing her scan on the Orion, Aurra shook her head. “He’s out for the count,” she commented to herself. He needed to go to sickbay immediately. =/\=Transporter room, this is Lt Talisse. I need a medical transport for LtCmdr Mardusk from the bridge to sickbay. Acknowledge.=/\= There was no reply. Were CoMMs out? She looked around the bridge again, squinting in the darkness. Okay, so probably no help from the transporter room then. The doctor needed to treat what she could with the contents of the medkit, but Mardusk was going to need more, soon. Nothing to do about the broken ribs or the bruised spine at the moment, but she could administer pain and anti-inflammatory meds. After that, she called over an NEnsign. “Stay with the LtCmdr and watch for signs that he’s waking up or that he’s having difficulties of any kind. I need to see to the others.”

He took a medkit and brought it to Talisse. He handed the others flashlights. Then he grabbed an emergency fire extinguisher and started putting out the small fires around the bridge.

NE Elbbirt

Jen caught movement but was hard to tell who it was with limited lights and the flashlights shining at him and not on the one carrying them. He caught a flash of a pip. Ensign. He may have recalled the name but his head and arms was throbbing. He was kneeling by Mardusk. That must have been quite the hit to take him down. After he addressed the doctor he said, “Ensign. You with the light. Find the Captain.” The bridge wasn’t ‘that’ big but it was dark and quiet and what lights just didn’t reach far enough.

Amidst the chaos on the Bridge, crew members scrambled through the darkness, their movements illuminated by the flickering light of sparking consoles. Though the ship retained some power, it was clear that not all systems were operational. Despite the urgency of the situation, there was an eerie silence—a stark absence of reports from other sections of the ship. Amidst the cacophony of sparking electronics, a keen ear would discern the unsettling lack of communication from the rest of the vessel, heightening the sense of unease among the crew.

Peter went in search of a flashlight also, he’d let the others deal with the fire, he needed to check the ship’s status, and most everyone seemed disoriented. His vision hadn’t completely come back into focus and he quietly cursed his own inattentiveness, he hadn’t noticed the big Security chief go down and he still hadn’t seen the Captain. He went back to his bridge seat and grabbed a flashlight from a compartment near it, clicking it on and looking at the chair console for any status updates.

CIO

It was quiet. “Anybody! Do we have comms? Life support? Sensors? What do we have? Sound off. Who is conscious on the bridge?” His head hurt to say that. Tapping his comm badge he said, =^= Bridge to Engineering. =^= There wasn’t anything coming in. He suspected comms were off line but he could hope. They hadn’t blown up so the warp core was still intact for now. If another wave came through they were finished so no sense worrying about that. But .. didn’t they talk about a second ship making a warp attempt? THAT could be a problem. While Jen wasn’t unsympathetic to injury and damage he was more concerned with them surviving. And right now that was in limbo.

He said that while trying to coax something out of the console. If that looked dead he moved to the next. There was some power, but what did they have? If they were going to do another of those trials they would be dead unless they could communicate to say to hold off or if they could limp behind a planet for cover. Still, there were the Romulans. They couldn’t likely get away. Plan A. Warn if possible. Plan B. Get out of the way.
- Jen, XO

“I’m fine. We need everyone at their station that can physically man it. If the person next to you can’t call it out and cover both until we find someone to help you. We need damage reports and then an answer to what hit us.” Jen had been barking out orders or at least that is what it sounded like as Kelly was coming too. “Peter take over security until we get the big man on his feet. I need someone at the helm to tell us if we are getting another wave like that anytime soon.”

Kelly Bordeaux CO

OOC: Maybe a cracked rib, sprained wrist, concussion, and cut at her temple needing stitches. ~ Kate

The CO and XO were conscious and up and about, so Aurra continued to tend to the rest of the bridge crew. (OOC: if anyone wants specific injuries, let me know so Aurra can find them, otherwise, the degree you’re hurt will be up to me…)

—Talisse, CMO

For Jen .. Left forearm fracture, nasty concussion, bruised hip and much other serious bruising and well, make up something about his kneecap as I don’t know anything about that but he smacked it :) .. Gene

Peter nodded first but realised that wasn’t enough as he stood from his seat before he’d even looked at the console “On it” He walked ignoring pain and a nose still bleeding and walked up to the Tactical station and checked whatever information was available.

CIO

“And get a report on the Romulan ship. Did this come for them?”

Kelly Bordeaux CO

“I don’t think so Captain. They got hit just before we did and it took down their cloak. We had just a moment to have scanned it before it hit us. Something in their warp test produced this wave.” He winced and corrected. “No, probably did so.” He was working with one arm while favoring the other while favoring one leg even if that hip was not happy with him, but much of that was dulled by the pain in his head. With whatever he could bring up Jen was checking for communications. Did they have any? Internal? External?

Aurra finally made it to the Captain and First Officer. Their injuries were sixes so she started with Bordeaux. A scan showed a head wound, cracked rib, sprained wrist and a concussion. Talisse took out a tissue regenerator and ran it over the forehead laceration then placed a temporary ‘smart’ splint around the sprain that would mold itself around the joint to keep it from moving until she could get a better look at the CO overall. “You have a cracked rib and a concussion. I want to give you something for pain, is that alright?”

“Yes and give me 10cc of Pulmozine and whatever amount of Bicaridine that I can take that won’t make me fall asleep but at least dull the pain to let me think,” Kelly stated as Aurra worked to stabilize her injures. Kelly was moving about like a toddler checking on systems and her crew. She could push through the pain of most things but her cut on her head and her cracked rib was the most difficult things to push past. Everyone at command level had had emergency medical training. The command staff was the equivalent of field medic with rudimentary knowledge of the equipment. She wanted to take whatever would knock her out for a few hours but that was not possible. “I need something to help me breathe,” Kelly stated knowing the pain had to be coming from the cracked rib Aurra mentioned.

While the CO decided, Aurra scanned the XO. Left forearm fracture, severe concussion, bruised hip and torn ACL in left knee. She removed two more ‘smart’ splints. “I need to set your arm, Sir. Do you want something for pain because this will hurt?”

As much as people may say ‘no, I need my head to be clear’ Jen was not in that masochistic frame of mind. “Please,” he said, offering his arm that was alarmingly swelling and felt tight in his uniform sleeve.

—Talisse, MO (OOC: I’ll get Peter in my next post)

Talisse loaded the hypospray with a pain reliever and injected the XO. She gave it a moment to work before kneeling down to treat his knee. She had to use the second medkits moldable splints, then ripped his pantleg, straightened Jen’s leg so the patella was sitting on top where it was supposed to be. “You’ve torn your ACL so I’m bracing your knee until you can get to sickbay. This will keep it immobile for now.” As soon as she activated the device he would be able to walk again but with the bruised hip, it would still be awkward.

The ship groaned and creaked ominously, its life support systems offline and the integrity forcefields failed. Reduced to little more than a giant tin can adrift in the void, the vessel faced pressures from every direction, threatening to crush it from the outside in. With only 45 minutes of breathable air remaining, the crew teetered on the brink of disaster. If the lack of oxygen didn’t claim them first, the relentless forces bearing down on the ship would surely spell their doom within the next twenty minutes.

OOC: Narwhal .. just need a clarification here
– Did the data about life support and force fields and the like come from consoles on the bridge? Was there any answer to comms? I’m guessing not but please verify.
-Based on the information you would have gotten from the Romulan ship damage, and the assumption of the combined knowledge on the bridge No power = Borrowed time. (no regenerating life support/oxygen). And assumption that has yet to be made by anyone in the bridge (or crew) so narrative/prompt at this stage.
-No Comms.

– Which forces are these that are bearing down on the ship with space being kinda force neutral? How do we know? Thanks
Gene
-As yet I’ve not seen any indication that anyone has asked the right questions or assumed the right assumptions. Just narrative at this stage choose to try to explore or not.

Jen slapped at the console that he had been trying to glean something from. It seemed loud in the quiet bridge. The doctor was working on his left arm so he tried to relax. “Captain,” he said, after a moment. “It seems that we have a massive power failure. I can’t hear the air circulators so life support looks to be down for now. I must assume Engineering is working on that. Internal communications are down. We have no sensors. None of these consoles are responding that I have tried. The ship is sounding like it may crack like an egg. Unless we can restore life support and some power I recommend making preparations to abandon ship. There may be some Armadillos and Runabouts that we can take on crew on and have some eyes and keep an eye on the life pods. I recommend sending out a distress call.” He looked over to a semi mobile crewman. “You, check to see if the lifts are working.”
- Jen, XO

“Alright, its time to set your arm. The meds will help but there might still be some pain. Sit down, please.” Aurra didn’t want him standing during the moment she realigned the bones in case it was too much for him. Being careful with the break, she encouraged Jen to relax his upper body as fully as he could. When she believed him to be at that point, she jerked on both ends on the break and lay them together like puzzle pieces.

Jen winced and gasped and felt his head spin .. did he black out for a bit there too? What was going on?

Another splint came out of the medkit that she formed around his arm. “There isn’t a lot more I can do right now. So many need to be in sickbay!” She looked around the dim bridge. There were bones that needed healing and deep bruising on many bodies that could use some time with fully stocked medical facility. “I have more pain meds though, just in case we’re stuck here for any length of time.”

He didn’t even try to make a fist with the arm even though he wanted to. What was it about testing an injury when one wouldn’t do that when it was healthy? “Thank you,” he said, “I think. Best get to the others,” he said, not wanting more people, even in the dark to see him hobbling like an ancient.

Finally, she found Peter again and set her kit down near him. “Okay, tough guy, its your turn now. Which one first? Nose or shoulder?”

—Talisse, MO

Peter looked up from the console, his first instinct was to deny that he needed care but he suppressed it, with only one arm his work was going slowly “Arm please” He said and smiled, his upper lip was still smeared with drying blood making it a ghastly sight”

Kelly moved to the engineering console and pulled every ounce of power to the comms station. Moving around the space she tapped a few buttons. =/\=This is a priority one distress signal. Any ship within the area we have been hit by an energy weapon that has crippled us. We are without life support around a Pre-warp planet. Immediate assistance necessary. Romulan ship was detected in the area and is probably in the same situation as us.=/\= Sending the message out tied to the distress beacon, Kelly began to think through the situation.

“Was there a habitable moon or planet in this system we can abandon ship too?” she asked out loud not knowing who was still here or awake from the wave burst.

Kelly Bordeaux.

Jen gave the console a frustrated whack. He had been trying to coax anything out of them and had failed entirely and the Captain and others whiz banged things to life to boot. He admitted to himself he was not that technical but it was still frustrating. He had not been long back to standing after the doctor had done some medical miracle with his arm. That being said it was not an easy sit or stand with his knee and his arm still ached. At least he was patched together. Sort of.

“The planet has a couple of moons orbiting it, each with their own mining operations, though they’re not exactly bustling. Gravity’s pretty weak down there,” the Science NE explained, motioning to the sizable gash on his shoulder. “As for other planets nearby, there are a few, but none of them are what you’d call hospitable—their homeworld’s still the only real option.” He paused, adopting a more serious tone. “Without our sensors up and running, pinpointing our exact location or attempting a safe landing is out of the question. And without shields or hull integrity fields, it’s best not to even entertain the thought,” he concluded, his expression reflecting a mix of concern and resignation.

Gamemaster Narwhal the nefarious

USS Atlantis

“How about letting us know what we can do, rather than what we can’t?” Jen said testily. “And is our structural integrity fields down? What’s going on with the ship and all this creaking?” While he had to abandon positions in the past generally there was a reason for it like an enemy overrunning the lines. If they had to abandon ship would they have a ship to return to? Could they leave a skeleton crew aboard of engineers to keep the lights on and affect repairs?

“Well landing the Atlantis was never my tenth choice,” she said dryly. “This girl will hold together.” A console sparked as if complaining about Kelly’s statement. “Hear me baby hold together,” Kelly whispered under her breath. Turning back to the science officer that had given her the report Kelly continued. “Start making a list of the best places for our shuttles to land if we have to abandon ship for a bit. Obviously atmosphere is a must since that is what we are lacking here.”

The lights on the bridge activated, it was clear that only emergency power had been restored. =^=Bridge this is engineering… Bridge come in, is this thing working=^= Asked Jason.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Jaxon Rennick

Emergency lighting. Dim but better. And if he ‘looked’ as bad as the others who were there then he was not in good shape. He went to press a console and realized that his was still lifeless. They had comms. They could call for an abandon ship if need be. That could be done quickly enough. If … he moved to a console that was nearby. =^= All hands. Report in through your comm units - name, location, injuries and whether you are mobile =^=

=^= Computer acknowledge and respond to all crew reporting in. Triage crew injuries based on mobility and criticality. List any crew that does not report in and define their last known position based on the comm badge information before the .. event. =^=

=/\=Engineering did you get life support up with the emergency lighting=/\= If they had life support they made vastly more options.

OOC: GM before I go cross posting all over on the message, does it go through?

Jen would find that unlike their other attempts the communication was acknowledged by the familiar computer tone.

=^=Bridge, this is engineering, well Shuttle bay the new main power generator, oh and uh Lieutenant Rennick… We’ve got multiple injuries down here—bruises, cuts, even a couple of broken bones. But that’s not our biggest problem…. We’re seriously low on power, Commander. We’ve managed to divert what we could to reestablish internal comms, life support, lighting, and we have limited handheld devices running, but that’s about it. Our makeshift power grid won’t last forever, and there’s no way of assessing the full extent of the damage until we can get proper scans.=^=

“We will send medical teams down there as soon as possible as well as anyone with a spare set of hands to help you in engineering. How do we get you the proper scans,” Kelly asked. Right now the immediate needs of breathing and heat were being met. One problem at a time she thought as the departments began to call in.
