Kelly wasn’t sure where the operations officer was on the sliding scale of the most recent conflict. She knew he had to be somewhere between burn the witch and can we convert her, yes we can but few people were all the way to the extreme of each group. Most were falling in the middle where they were not actively provoking her but keeping a healthy distance away. If Kelly had the time, she would have brought Jessa into the fold in microscopic increments but she did not have the time. During her last communique with Starfleet, she had been given strict orders. Get intell from the girl and learn how much was reality and how much was a fantasy about her claims. Usually, she would have been open with her crew about why she was going to be asking them to do things that felt odd; however, at times even she was not at liberty to say why she was giving orders. She had meetings lined up with most of the department heads individually forgoing her normal routine of handing out orders in a staff meeting. Today Tenzig Trainor was up and she was waiting for the chime at her door.

Tenzing had lost the formalities years ago. After all, he’s had far too many run-ins with Q, has been to distant galaxies more than once, and has even found himself at odds with an extermination race.
