Gravel laughed. “You are being sarcastic, but I know for a fact you got lost in Sickbay. You couldn’t find the door out of the room for almost a minute! And it’s a circle!” he said loudly as he climbed out and dried off.“Gravel Mardusk that is a vicious rumor and I am surprised ya are repeatin’ it! I was no lost, I was pacing while I was thinkin’.” Did she manage to say that with a straight face? Yes she did.
He walked into the bedroom and climbed into bed next to her, putting an arm under her neck and shoulders like a firm pillow and pulling her close. “Thanks for the massage, doll. When we get up, you get one.”

Cara rolled to her side, pulling up a light blanket, and kissed his shoulder before laying her head back on his arm. Her hand and arm rested on his chest. “Yer welcome. Ya know I’d do anythin’ for you. Now go ta sleep ‘fore that gives ya ideas.” She chuckled softly, finger tracing soft pattern on his chest until they both fell asleep.

When they woke the next morning, Gravel was sore. But he rolled out of bed while giving Cara a playful snack on some exposed flesh and he said “Wake up, lazy. You have patients and I have a date with the investigator.” and he went into the bathroom and shut the door. A few minutes later he emerged and went to the closet and began getting dressed.

“Ah!” Cara rolled away from him and his michevious hands. Not that he couldn’t reach her with no effort at all. “Hey I thought you said I was gettin’ a massage.” She called after him, chuckling. She stood, pulling the sheet and blanket back to rights on the massive bed. She grabbed her shirt and skirt, and her discarded towel. “Yep clothes get moved taday,” she grinned at him as she passed by him to the bathroom. She was going to have to get dressed, just to go next door to get dressed. Cara looked at herself in the mirror, “And a hairbrush is second!” She came out, dressed in her shirt and skirt. She reached up on her toes, still having to tug him down to her and kissed him. “10 minutes, I’ll be back.”
Cara left and entered her quarters. She hadn’t turned the wrong direction in months. But she blamed those incidents solely on Gravel’s shoulders and his causing her lack of sleep.
Cara actually still had an empty tote in her room and as she pulled clothes out to get dressed, the rest got dumped into the tote. It wasn’t the neatest packing job, but it would do for now. Her hair took the longest…Twister and her hair did not go together. She finally managed to tame it into a frazzled braid. 10 minutes after she left Cara stepped back through the door of his quarters. “I need tea. Do ya want coffee or anythin’?”

Mardusk shook his head. “Naw, I’m okay. And you get a massage tonight. Promise. And now-” he said as he looked at the chronometer, “-I gotta go. I’ll. All ya when I’m done with the investigator.” He bent down and kissed her, grabbed a handful of wholly inappropriateness, chuckled, and then moved to the door. “Love ya. Wish me luck.” he said as he stepped into the passageway.

Cara kissed him and hugged him tightly. “Ya don’t need it, yer my favorite shade of green. That’s already lucky. Besides ya did right and ya know it, so does everyone else on the ship.” She kissed him again. “Ya’ll be fine. I love ya, Gravel. I’ll be in my office when yer done.”
She let him go, grabbed a cup of darjeeling sungma summer tea. Then she left, turning left to the lift and deck 11 and her office. The morning was blocked off for all of them and a group session with the 15 children and their parents. Cara had to back track because she’d turned left instead of right off the lift. That’s what she got for being distracted.

It was late when he got back, close to 2300 ship time. The reason was not unknown, either. A steady stream of people had raced to the Counseling Suites to try and tell Cara the investigator was after Mardusk’s hide. Asking leading questions and trying to get them to say Mardusk’s actions were out of line… or worse, criminal. Which of course none of them did. According to the last person, Mardusk’s day culminated with a conference call between the investigator, Mardusk, two Admirals, and some Klingon who was screaming at all of them. But… Mardusk had been cleared (they thought), and the investigator was gone.
The door slid open and an obviously exhausted Gravel stumbled in and fell face-first into the couch and groaned. “Second day ina row somebody was damn near killed on this ship.” he said, his voice muffled by the couch cushions.
