“Yeah, Cara can you and Ian take the orb and see what you can find out about the Endorians and the Caste. See if there is anything on that quote she who is without fault name the guilty. You’re right. It sounds biblical almost and half the time bible verses are not all turn the other cheek. The Elipse gave us a rundown on the major races in this area but compile a more detailed dossier if you can. I am tired of going into everything blind. See if there is something you can find that they all agree on or connects them and what is the straw that is going to break the camels back.” Kelly’s order was tall but Cara was amazing at her job. Kelly had no doubts the woman would know the races inside and out to the best of her ability by the time they arrived at the base.

Cara nodded and got up from her seat and moved to the back of the bridge. It would be quieter to work in the observation lounge or a conference room, but she was loathe to move the Orb from the bridge where it could be used by everyone if needed. Pressing a button a chair popped out from under the console and Cara pulled a PaDD from a nearby storage compartment and sat down. “Alright Orb tell me de origin of the sayin’, ‘she who is without fault name de guilty’.”

“It is a common Endorian secular conversion of the religious statement. ‘May the pure determine the penance.’ It has also been related at ‘Only God can judge the sin,’ and several other nominal variations.”

“Me whenever I want to get snarky with my wife,” Ian said moving up beside Cara waiting to see what the Orb would reply. Right now there was not a lot for him to do so maybe he would be able to help out Cara with her task.

Cara gave a slight nod as the diplomatic officer walked up.

“The Endorian species aren’t renown for their religiosity. However that statement has made its way into the common vernacular.” He Orb continued to flash a comfortable Purple.

“Let’s hope that is all it is,” Ian replied. “Kinda like those that live in glass houses should not throw the first stone.” As a diplomat, the first thing Ian learned was legality and morality varied widely in the universe. Betazeds were a highly respected culture and society and yet there was no way he would be taking anyone in his family to a Betazed wedding since it involved all the guests coming naked. It was common to bite one’s intimate partner and leave scratches and marks during a Klingon coupling and yet if Kelly was walking around with a broken arm or bruises after date night, security would have a few questions.

“Orb, what are the moral, legal, and social implications associated with this statement?”

“It commonly is a statement of acceptance, that the person speaking it is willing to leave the judgement to a higher power. It doesn’t have a direct legal meaning in the Endorian culture as it isn’t a legal statement it is a religious one. ”

Well if they were talking Earth sayings it was right on par and that was a bit of a relief, but to clarify, “Could the statement be interpreted that everyone has made mistakes and errors of judgement therefore others should not be quick to judgement?” Just for clarity. Cara liked to be thorough.

“Orb, can you tell me, considering all the species that visit and occupy Base 5, is there any underlying commonality between them? Anything at all, from a specific type of food, to a religious belief? A basic law they all agree on and follow? A common weakness?”

The Orb actually paused. “They all breathe oxygen, theft, murder, and rape are illegal. Most regulations accepted in the Federation are accepted by the majority of the races in this sector. Each race has comparative weakness to the human race, but much like the Federation they have their respective strengths as well.”

“Which Federations regulations are not accepted by the majority of the races in this sector? Do any of those races, singly or together, have regulations that the Federation does not? Also let’s go back to the weaknesses. Forget physical weaknesses, consider social, cultural, and political weaknesses.”
