It was the early morning hours of the bridge shift, and all indications were that this shift would be like most others at that time… uneventful and boring. NE Hayes, manning the helm, leaned back and stretched, then looked over at his friend NE Basle at the science station. “Hey Basle, want to grab a bite after watch?” he asked. Basle turned in her chair and said “Sure. I’d kill for some pancakes right now.” Hayes smiled and said “You and your pancakes… But sure. We can make that happen.” and he turned and ran his eyes over the helm. Everything was normal, as it always was. “Man, this shift is the worst. Nothing ever hap-” and his words were cut off by Basle. “Lieutenant.” she said, addressing Lt. (jg) Novolin in the center seat. “Sensors picking up a ship at the far edge of our sensors. Moving fast, directly towards us.” she said, a bit of excitement in her voice. Novolin looked over and said “Can you identify it? Tactical, got anything?” The Orion at the tactical station replied “Wait one, Ma’am.” and then a few seconds later said “Klingon Battle-Cruiser. Course was just adjusted to intercept, Ma’am.”“What the hell is a Klingo-” and the words of the Watch Officer were cut off by the comm officer. “Ma’am, we are being hailed.” “On screen.” Novolin replied. The screen flickered and the image of the bridge of Klingon vessel came into view. It was lit by low red-lighting that cast dark shadows over many of it’s surfaces. A large Klingon sat in the Command chair, and when the screen went live a low, gravely voice came out from him.
“Atlantis. This is Rear Admiral T’Kor Drakenol of House Noggra, Commander of the IKS Battleship Ghol. We will be rendezvousing with you in one hour. Prepare to receive myself and my Senior Staff at that time. Do you understand…” and the big Klingon squinted slightly and continued “… Lieutenant Junior Grade?” His tone was one that conveyed a sense of being used to not being questioned.
“I will inform the Captain and Command Staff at once, Admiral.” and with the feed was cut from the Klingon side. Novolin looked around at the wide-eyed expression and then composed herself and tapped her comm badge. =/\= Bridge to all Senior Staff. Klingon vessel arriving for rendezvous. All Command Staff please report to the bridge immediately. =/\=
Moments later, and the lift opened and Nash walked out. He wasn’t in uniform, nor had he been sleeping. Instead the grumpy and lonesome Chief Tactical Officer was in civilians, his well recognized leather jacket on over a dark shirt and the stubb of a cigar sticking out of the corner of his mouth. He looked around, recognized that he was the first and ranking officer to arrive, and moved to the space in between the view screen and captains chair, leaving his junior TO to her station. “Who exactly do we have arriving?” He asked, then, “bring us to full stop helm, let’s wait for their arrival.”
Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO
Rinker arrived soon after looking at the screen. “Who invited the Klingons?” Noticing the tactical information coming from the sensors.
He looked at Nash for a moment. “They probably would subconsciously frown on us stopping and waiting for them. They are a predatory culture if we hunkered down, they would look at us as prey.” He stood at full height. “Warriors face warriors face to face without fear.”
“True, but we are also Allies and they, requested, we prepare to receive them. Lets not give them any thoughts by changing to intercept and charging in with lances drawn. Although that would be more fun.” He grinned at the Counselor, “If they increase speed seeing as we are not closing with them anymore, we’ll know it’s fairly urgent as well as important.”

The turbolift doors opened and Mardusk’s bulk came onto the bridge. He walked up to the Security console and tapped NE Hawkins on the shoulder and took over. Without looking up from the console, he said “What do we have, Novolin?”
“Klingon Battle-cruiser. IKS ‘Ghol’ under the command of Rear Admiral T’Kor Drakenol, Lieutenant.” she replied, relinquishing the center seat to Nash as the ranking officer on the bridge. Mardusk chuckled and mumbled just loudly enough for Nash and Rinker to hear “Rear Admiral? I hadn’t heard he got promoted. Good on ya, T’Kor.”
Mardusk, CoS
“Friend of yours?” Nash asked the CoS. “You don’t owe him any debts or first born do you?”
Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO
“Friend of mine… yeah, I guess you could say that. And the only debt I owe him is personal, not biological.” Mardusk said with a grin. “But to put your mind at ease Commander, he is definitely not a threat. But I do know he is a stickler for protocol as well. Recommend we put on our best, Sir. Good first impression and all.”
Mardusk, CoS
Relann stepped onto the bridge, letting her empathic mind quickly inform her of the severity of the situation. Her being called to the bridge was one thing, but it was usually something more serious if they were all being summoned. “It’s the wrong day for a senior staff party, isn’t it?” she asked simply, though her tone had a hint of humour to it.
OOC: Can the thread title be shortened a great deal? I love descriptive ones, but really long ones end up making threads take up way too much space on the boards and it gets really cluttered, especially for those on mobile devices. Short and sweet is best. :)
Fell-Drayke, XO
OOC: Done and done.
IC: “Klingon delegation arriving, Ma’am.” Mardusk replied. “Rear Admiral Drakenol. Says he will be here in an hour with his Senior Staff.” And he looked up from his console. “I know him, Commander. Served under him as Liaison Officer. But I don’t know why he is here.”
Mardusk, CoS
“Do we have any information on his senior staff… knowledge is power.”
Rinker
“So are torpedo’s” Nash quipped, making way for Fell-Drayke but letting his junior tactical officer stay at the station he would normally fill, it was still her shift after all. “Well. In an hour we will know why he is here. What kind of reception is he expecting? Full formal is a little unusual for a Klingon of any stature.”
Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO
“His senior staff is all members of his House and their allies. Same goes for most of his crew. And as far as attire goes, he has always been a stickler for respect and formality.” Mardusk offered up.
Mardusk, CoS
OOC: Just pasting the CO’s split into here to bring it all back into line, it fits.
Kelly and Ian had heard the call to the bridge. As usual, they seemed to be joined at the hip whether it was on or off duty. Stepping off the turbo her eyes scanned the room wondering why she was being called hours before her shift when it was not some sort of alert. “Ian I am not…sure,” Kelly’s tone started out jovial but slowly turned as did the cadence of her words to a more inquisitive rhythm. Lowering the coffee cup she looked around the room at the people assembled there. “Mr. Nash, Mr. Mardusk, Rellan,” she slowly called out each name. “So any of you care to explain why there is a Klingon Batttle cruiser off my port bow are are we going to charade it?”
Captain Kelly Shultz
Rinker chuckled. He held three fingers, “Sounds like ‘ee ont owe.’” The he pointed Mardusk, “But Mardusk seems to be buddy buddy with the Captain.”
Rinker
Mardusk shrugged his huge shoulders and said “Aye, Captain. I know him. Served under him as a Starfleet Liason officer. But I really don’t know why he is here.”
