Or a turbolift. This one was currently not in service, as the large ‘Out Of Service’ holo stated.

Navigation Is Not Your Friend

Cara glared at the holo sign. That was not there before. Now it was possible that it had just been put up, but she doubted it. Cara refused to sigh or get frustrated, she just continued in the direction she was going....OH! The section color just changed from orange to yellow. So she was…at the fore of the ship tracking the starboard side. So if kept heading in the same direction, eventually she’d make it aft and cross to port. yeah that was great, if she could just get that information to match with muddled map in her head she’d be fine. There were no view ports so she knew she was on the inner corridor.

She turned down what she thought was a connecting corridor and through an door way and into....sensor pallet access....Okay so she wasn’t anywhere she shouldn’t be, but this was not where she wanted to be. She turned around back tracking the way she had come and somehow moved from yellow back to orange. Now she really wasn’t sure how she had done that because she’d gone back down the same corridor she’d come from and there were no options to turn left or right. She paused and looked around and it suddenly made sense, she was right at the switch over of sections. Seeing the yellow she started that way again and waited till she made it to green before trying another connecting corridor again.

O’Farrell (It’s been two hours already)

Thunder rolled off in the distance… except it was a voice. =/\= Security Chief to Counselor. I have a case I’d like your input on. Could you please be in my office in five minutes, Lieutenant? Thank you. =/\=

Mardusk, CoS

Awww crap… At first Cara thought he had snuck up behind her. The sound of his voice sent a thrill through her. And then frustration because either the Sec JO told on her, or he was watching her and knew she was lost. So much for trying to learn her way around. Before answering Cara resigned herself to it and put a hand to the LCARS panel. “Show me the way ta the nearest turbolift.” The roaving dots began and she followed. Cara’s Irish lilt came back over the com, =^=On my way, Cmdr. More like 15 minutes.=^=

=/\= I figured as much. See you then. =/\= came the reply.

The dots stopped, she hadn’t been far from the lift, and Cara pressed the button to call the lift. Once it arrives she stepped on. She’d only been to the security office once, but she did know what deck it was on. “Deck 14.” And the lift started its 3 deck decent.

O’Farrell, CNS

The doors opened and a Security JO was standing there. He smiled at the Counselor and said “Hello, Lieutenant. Second passage on the right, first door on the left. Have a good day!” and he stepped past her and into the lift and disappeared when the doors closed.

Security

Was she surprised to see one of his officers standing there, seemingly as a coincidence? Nope not at all. She smiled at him, “Thank you, that’s very helpful. Just one thing, lad. Which is my right and which my left?” At the disbelief on his face Cara laughed as the lift doors shut. Directions! She made a mental note of the lift number. From there 2nd right-hand passage, first door on the left. She headed down the corridor, took the second right and went through the first door on the left. She walked over to the officer at the desk. “Lt Cmdr Mardusk asked ta see me.”

Lt. O’Farrell

“Yes, Lieutenant. Chief is waiting for you in your office.” and he grinned and said softly “Turn left ninety degrees, door in front of you.” and then gave her a friendly smile.

Security

It was Cara’s day off so she wasn’t in uniform but in her signature black jean jacket, stone wash jeans, and t-shirt. Cara slipped the jacket off with a chuckle, draping it over her arm, and grinned at the officer. If they weren’t all so sincere it might be insulting. Today’s shirt was light blue with black and orange writing and a white unicorn with an orange mane and tail. It read “Only 2% of the universe has read hair. So I’m basically a Majestic Unicorn.” Cara turned left and pointed at the door, “Tha’ one? Yer sure?” she asked softly grinning widely. She stepped over to the door to trigger it to open.

O’Farrell

The door opened to reveal the Security Chief’s office. The floor was translucent, opaque white, and lit softly from underneath. The walls were the same, and all the shelves and cabinets and such were polished, silvery metal. The far back wall of the room was solid, with a large display in the upper center and shelves to the sides and underneath. On each shelf was an assortment of items. Some personal… like large dark red tooth the size of Cara’s head; and some work-related… like the phasers, restraints, and Security tricorder.

A large desk sat towards the back of the room, and seated at the desk was Cara’s… what?… well, whatever she was going to call him, there he was.

Gravel looked up and smiled and said “You know, I thoroughly expect one of my patrols to see you wondering around on the hull looking for your room one day.”

Mardusk

The door closed behind her as she stepped in. The room nor the lights were the first things Cara noticed. It was Gravel. The sight of him made her smile and spread gentle warmth from her shoulders down her body. Whatever term might be used to describe them was undecided as of yet. But whatever it was, he had quickly become important to her. She met his gaze for a moment and then looked around the room. She didn’t want to know about the giant tooth, that was…survival instinct inducing. The lighting was…different but not too much against all the shiny metal surfaces. Her gaze returned to his, grinning. “I ‘ave no idea what yer talkin’ about. I do know better than ta go out an airlock. My quarters are no outside the ship.”

O’Farrell

He stood up (and up and up) and walked around the desk and up to her. Putting his arms around her, he said “So I need your input on a case. I’ve got this guy who keeps stealing. He says he cant help it. You walk past him, and he just has to steal a glance.” and he grinned.

Mardusk

Cara put her arms on top of his, and as much as she would have liked to step closer she didn’t. Simply so she could look up at him without getting a crick in her neck. She grinned at him. “Really? Stealin’ glances? That’s serious. Are parts a me missin’, fadin’ away? First the security chief monopolizes all my time, and now some guy is stealin’ glances? Do ya think I need ta hire a body guard?”

O’Farrell

The big arms moved and soon she was up off the floor and eye to eye with him. “Don’t you know? You already have one… for as long as you want them.” he said with a smile and then he kissed her firmly on the lips, and then slowly brought her in close to him until she was wrapped up, feet off the floor, and the kiss became more…

more.

Mardusk

Cara was looking him in the eye, his words rang true to her and surprised her, in a good way. Before she could say anything he was kissing her. Now this certainly surprised her, he was on duty and they were in his office, but she wasn’t complaining. Cara kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck. Soon she wasn’t even aware of where she was, only who she was with. Time slowed with the more. Cara wasn’t sure who pulled back first, but she breathed quietly but heavily, “He’s an expert thief this one. He just stole my h......stole my breath and kisses.”

O’Farrell

Gravel smiled and said “You’re h-breath and kisses, eh? Well, I’m about t steal your time, as well.” And he stepped back. “Unfortunately, it’s in a professional way… at least for now. C’mon and have a seat.” and he walked her to his desk and sat down. tapping the desk interface he brought up a recording of an interview. Before he played it, he said “So I want you to hear and see this. This is an interview about a dispute that was heard in the lounge. The person is a civilian, married, one child. Xeno-engineer by profession; studies new tech coming from outside the Federation. He works for the Daystrom Institute, so he has some clout. Anyway… watch and tell me what you think. You down for that?”

Mardusk

She’d let him steal her time whenever he wanted....work? Cara blinked once…she was muddled headed and d@&%it she wanted to stay that way. A deep slow breath and she sat forcing herself to switch gears. “Ya know it’s my day off, right?” she grinned, “Show me what ya got.”
