“Whether there is a band or not.” he said softly with a smile and a wink and then leaned back. “So you a dancer? Hmm… never wanted to take lessons before. Your studio have any openings for new students? I may not be really graceful, but I bet I can lift you over my head and swing you around pretty good. And I do play in the rhythm section, so I can keep a beat. Or are you suggesting we learn how to create a rhythm together? Both of us learning… you know… new moves and such at the same time?” and he grinned.Mardusk
“I wouldna call myself a dancer, so no studio. But I love ta dance.” She sat up slightly, her gaze steady on his as she contemplated him not the him everyone else saw. “Nay lad, with all that stealth I bet your the most graceful person on this ship.” She returned his grin with a smile. “I have a feeling, Gravel, we could learn a lot together, given enough time and patience. That is if ya think that would make ya want to take a break from all that work.”
O’Farrell
Mardusk looked at her, his metallic green eyes staring right at her. He leaned forward, putting his elbows on the table and laying his arms crossed on the surface. “Well… time I got. Patience? Well… I guess I have a bit of that as well, under the right circumstances. So if you are offering your time to spend with my time… getting to know one another outside of tours and evaluations…” and he grinned, “… maybe seeing about swimming and dancing… then yeah. I think takin’ a break more regular may be something I would like to do.” and he nodded and smiled. “Yeah, I think I’d like that quite a bit, actually.”
Mardusk
Cara tossed her hair just a bit, “I donna see anyone else here to offer my time to. I just see you.” Yes that was a loaded statement. She got up, “Good, I’d like it too. I’ll be right back.” She grabbed the now mostly empty plates and returned them to where they belonged. She was gone a handful of minutes, moving from the bar to the replicators and back, finally returning with a tray. She placed a 9x13 cake pan on the table between their seats, no plates, just two forks, one for him that was large enough to not hide in his hand, and then a small her one for her. She placed a drink in front of herself and a pitcher with a matching one in front of him.
Mardusk looked at her and said “Well aren’t you full of surprises.”
She sat down, “Figured we’d keep sharin’. Butterscotch Apple Cake, ground cinnamon, apples, pecans, and butterscotch chips. I probably shoulda asked if you had any allergies. And the drink is an Irish creme drink. Made with vanilla ice cream, vodka, eggnog, milk, chocolate syrup, coffee granules, vanilla and almond. Take your pick.” She picked up the fork and dug a bite out of the cake pan, as if eating a whole large cake was an every day thing for her.

Mardusk took a bite of the cake, nodded approvingly, but chewed slowly and kept looking at her; his brow furrowed slightly. Swallowing, he took a drink and then said “What did you mean by that? That you just see me?”
Mardusk
She paused the fork half way to her mouth, “Well I canna see myself without a mirror and you are the only other person at the table.” She smiled, she was gently teasing him. She finished the bite on her fork, sipped the drink and sat back. “Now I ain’t evaluating you, or nothin’ of the sort. I’m just observant. I wanna make that clear. You keep expectin’ me ta act one way and when I don’t your eyes go really wide for a second tryin’ to figure out what’s goin’ on. First thing you did was apologize for yer size. And that wasn’t the only time. And when my first reaction wasn’t about yer size you blushed. Now I didn’t know at the time that was it, but I’ve been in yer company a few hours now. And I wasn’t lyin’ by the way,” she moved her booted foot from under the table showing off the India green design of it. “And one day I might even show you all the stuff in my quarters that’s that shade of green.”
“You told me you keep away the wolves and watched me like a hawk to see if I understood how ya might go about that. Or the reminder that ya could lift me over ya head. Really Gravel, ya picked me up from a dead weight off the bathroom floor with just yer hands. If ya strength bothered me, it woulda been then. You are not your size any more than I am just my hair. Yer smart, insightful, wickedly funny, and kind. Patient and forgivin’ to a fault too. If you were just all size and brawn, you would snapped Bubbles head in two long ago. No I see you, yourself. Or at least I’m hopin’ I’m startin’ ta. And I’d like to know more.”
O’Farrell
Gravel sat back and looked at her for a long time. He didn’t look confused. Or embarrassed. Or offended. He looked… inquisitive. “Ok. So then what is you want know? I’ll make you a deal. You can ask me whatever you want. Anything. And I’ll give ya the absolute honest truth. Nothing off limits. In exchange… you tell me one thing about you you want me to know. How’s that sound? Then the next time we get to… spend time together… we switch it. I ask you, I tell you.”
