Having explored the ship a bit more, Evrilla had managed to find Sickbay more-or-less on her own, excluding Tatyl’s requests to helpful Ensigns for directions. The two stopped in the hallway, almost simultaneously, and Evrilla obligingly opened her mind to her daughter. Amma? Are you nervous?Perhaps a bit, Evrilla allowed. It’s been many years since I began work at a new place, and this is very different from anywhere on Andoria. Tatyl nodded fiercely. Like going to school! Exactly like that. I think it’ll be alright though. Tatyl frowned, deep in thought. Because you have me now? And because we left? Evrilla nodded. Yes. She set a gentle hand on her daughter’s head. Lead the way, little Tatyl.
Tatyl nodded quickly, and set to walking a step or so in front of her mother, leading Evrilla into Sickbay. She turned to the first person she saw and held out her hand with a grin. “Hi! I’m Tatyl, and that’s my Amma.“
-Tatyl and Dr. Evrillabump
OCC: Hey I am going to start this off with a bit of banter if that is okay. I am sure Tyra will pop in and take over. I play a nurse under her on the OP42 and we do this back and forth from time to time. Sorry it took me so long to catch up with posting to you. It has been a crazy week, month, year…all of them  ~ Kate
IC: Dr. Lauren Shan looked at the little girl and her face slowly spread into a grin. “Well hello Tatyl I am Dr. Lauren pleased to meet you,” she stuck her hand out to shake the little girl’s hand. There was something warm and inviting about the little girl that lit up sick bay. So often kids either loved it here or were terrified. Lauren was glad it was the former.
“Nice to meet you, Dr. Lauren!” Tatyl clasped her hands behind her back, trying to seem professional.
Over the years, Lauren had spent her career working with many children even though her specialty was not pediatrics. If she had to do it again, Lauren would have specialized in the field of pediatrics but hindsight was always twenty-twenty. “And this is your,” she let her voice trail off. The medical records showed there was a new doctor coming to the department. The fact the new doctor was an Aenar and the woman before Lauren was an Aenar meant it was probably the new pathologist. Still little kids liked to be heard and listened to. Lauren didn’t want to jump the gun and stop the conversation with kiddo immediately moving to the adult.

OOC: No problem!

Tatyl smiled. “My Amma. I have an Amma, Appa, a Mama, and a Papa. My Amma takes care of me though. She’s a germ doctor.” Evrilla nodded to Lauren, smiling gently. “Evrilla, pathologist.” She offered a hand as well. “We’ll be working together I presume.”
-Dr. Evrilla & Tatyl“I hope so,” Lauren took the woman’s hand shaking it. Already Lauren’s mind was racing with possibilities. She had to have Rand do some research on this Dr. Evrilla and not the boring how good were her credentials. She would never ask the woman to follow her on some of her excursions especially because of Tatyl but the woman’s knowledge of pathogens could help Lauren out greatly in the refugee camps. “Sickbay is pretty laid back here and the CMO is amazing. The woman has more knowledge of just about anything medical than I have ever seen. She is also exceedingly relaxed about protocols. No one worries about rank so much which isn’t an issue since you are a civilian. She should be around to meet you but I can start your official check ins and give you the nickle tour if you like,” she offered gesturing to a medical bed.
Lt. Lauren Shan
Evrilla smiled and nodded, relieved. “I would appreciate that, thank you.” Lauren seemed nice, someone she could work with happily. “Tatyl?” Tatyl nodded to her mother and hopped up onto the biobed, swinging her feet. “How is medical accompaniment on away missions usually handled?” She inquired for two reasons, the first being to start a conversation and the second being her own quiet panic that she’d be trapped aboard the ship rather than on the frontlines as she had wanted.
-Dr. Evrilla“Usually Ashlynn assigns it typically on the nature of the situation. Routine meet and greets, anyone that wants to take it goes. Starfleet officers tend to get assigned to the official away missions but with you being a civilian I am positive if you want those rotations it won’t be issue. The Skipper is always around someplace to get everyone off the boat on a much more regular basis I feel like than most ships so even if you miss an away mission or so you definitely will get a chance to get you and this one,” Lauren nudged Tatyl playfully, “off the boat quite a bit. With your specialty in pathogens, however, I can see you being placed not only with the main away teams but also the science departments at times so you won’t be stuck in the black unless you really want to. Do you prefer fieldwork over stationary locations?”

Evrilla nodded vigorously, then blushed a light blue. “I spent years in the same place, but all my work was sourced elsewhere. The opportunity to see for myself… If I could, I would be somewhere different every day.”
-Dr. EvrillaDr. Evrilla’s work was not unknown in the medical world. It was a huge asset to have her on the ship. Lauren would definitely lean on her for her pathogenic advice. “So have you ever been to the settlements on the outskirts of non-Federation cities in the samaritan camps,” Lauren asked trying not to sound too eager. While the Federation was shining star in the galaxy with food, medicine, and education, there were other places that the star did not shine so brightly. These outskirts were often filled with the people that wanted to live on the edge of what they deemed society. They were not all thugs and criminals like the holos or news reports could make you believe. Most of these people were just people that wanted to live life on their own. They did not want the Federation to educate their children but to teach them their own ways. They did not always trust medicine or thin air food as Lauren heard replicators be called now and then but to live off the land; however, not all those living in the outskirts were that peaceful. There was the criminal element that lived and worked just outside or on the fringes of the city. This criminal element was where Lauren spent most of her time servicing. She got there under the premise of Good samaritan camps but her business there was less than samaritan at times.
Picking up the tricorder, she scanned Evrilla as they spoke.
Lauren Shan
Lauren would notice that Evrilla almost seemed to have lived in one for a year, with naturally healed breaks and signs of a lack of food near the end of her growth, about age 21. Tatyl exhibited none of the same signs.
Evrilla blushed again. “Before this, I, well we that is, had never left Andoria.” Andoria, clan-based and isolationist as it was, had no outskirt camps, and no need for them. Those who went against their clan died, whether it was from the cold or from cold-blooded murder. Even a group wouldn’t last long without the protection of a clan. “I’d like to help though. Even basic sanitation knowledge can save lives if you know how something spreads, and early detection methods could be put into place.” She bit her lip, realizing that she had been thinking out loud, and Lauren almost certainly already knew the measures she had mentioned.
-Dr. EvrillaAshlynn walked out of her office and noticed the two new medical staff “Oh dear.” She said walking up, sliding the PaDD into her pocket “How long have you been waiting for me?” She asked looking at the two officers. She looked at Emily, the nurse on duty “Why didn’t you come let me know our new staff had arrived?” She asked the nurse who simply shrugged “I figured they knew where your office was and would come find you if they needed you.” She said and walked away. Ashlynn stared at the nurse for a moment, she would have to deal with that later, for now she turned her attention to the two in front of her “Welcome to the Atlantis, I am Ashlynn Summers, Chief Medical Officer. And you are who?” She asked looking between the two of them.
CMO
“Not long. I was just introducing myself,” Lauren handed the PaDD over to Ashlynn. “This,” she looked at Evrilla, “is the boss…Dr Ashlynn Summers. I will let you two get acquainted.” Turning back to the CMO, Lauren she fished in her pocket as she talked. “I checked them in but haven’t gotten past getting them situated on a bed.
Moving in front of Tatly, Lauren produced two lollipops. “Red or green,” she asked the little girl. “It tends to make them want to come back,” she said to Evrilla as the little girl made her choice. “Now I am going to give this to your mom but it was very nice meeting you and also you. See you around Evrilla.” Walking back to her office, Lauren decided to look up Evrilla’s research. They might be living in a time that medicine could cure almost anything but simple bacteria still had the power to kill someone in days like it had since the start of time. The woman would be invaluable to Lauren and her research.
Lauren Shan
“Green please!” Tatyl chimed. Evrilla nodded to Lauren as she left, pleased to have made, perhaps, a friend.
Ashlynn smiled “I apologize for my tardiness.” She said “Evrilla, you are our new pathologist is that correct?” She asked and smiled at the little girl “And what’s your name?” She asked smiling at the child.
CMO
“I’m Tatyl,” she mumbled around the lollypop. “That’s my mom.” Evrilla smiled at her daughter and nodded. “I am. It’s nice to meet you Dr. Summers.” She debated offering her hand to shake, but decided against it.
-Evrilla & Tatylbump
Ashlynn smiled “And how old are you?” She asked glancing up as the doors to Sickbay opened again and her own daughter came bouncing in “Mama…i have a school project due tomorrow.” She said sliding to a stop, seeing that her mom was busy. Ashlynn glanced at Ali “We’ll talk about it later.” She said turning her attention back to Tatyl “This is my daughter, Alexxandra. Everyone calls her Ali.” She said with a smile and turned her attention to Evrilla “How are you doing?” She asked
