Sulivin was nervous, this was his first posting since graduating from the academy.
Well I suppose I should check in with the boss. He thought. Walking to the turbolift he looked around the shuttle bay. The ship was a little larger than he imagined it.
“Sickbay.” He told the computer when he entered the lift. The turbo lift hummed and a minuet later he walked off heading in the direction of sick bay. Or at least he thought he was. I should have studied the schematics of the ship better.Finaly he found his way to sick bay and walked in and seen the CMO sitting at their desk.
Walking over Linkin stood in the door way waiting to be noticed.“Ensign Linkin Sulivin Reporting for duty.”

Ryley it appeared was building a small model ship in a bottle. He had his glasses on, his red coloured shirt sleeves rolled up and judging by the pair of blue trainers at the door was in his socks. He didn’t look up. “Good for you kid. Now go away.” He picked up some tweezers and continued building.

M.D.“I see that you have the bedside manor of a targ. I’m the new recruit from the academy that you requested. But I see that you have other things to do being all so busy and all.” Linkin turned around and started for the door.

The comment seemed to amuse Ryley. The corners of his mouth turned up and his eyebrows arched, carefully he put down the tweezers. And pulled off his glasses. “First of all, I haven’t got any bedside manner because you’re not a patient. Secondly your comment implies you have been treated by a Targ in order to make that comparison which is frankly stupid, you’d have been better going with a naussican or even just a Klingon. Thirdly I didn’t request anything, that would be our glorious leader or someone in a red uniform who isn’t me.”
He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his beard a moment as he considered the ensign. “So now what kid. You’ve reported in what else do you want?”
Ryley
M.D.Linkin turned back around and studied the man before him. “Your right I’m not a patient. But if I were I would prefer being treated by a Klingon. They at least give you blood wine before they set a broken bone. With your attitude I would expect to be bashed over the head for a pain killer. BANG now you have a different pain to worry about.”
Ryley was grinning now, apparently he liked this response. “Actually I’d more likely set the bone first without warning then hand the bloodwine over. Better to ask forgiveness than permission especially where Klingons are concerned.”
Linkin was desperately trying to keep a strait face. “Your not wrong there sir.”
Linkin then looked down at the model ship in the bottle. “Oh and your tying your knots wrong from the masts. Your using suture knots, not seafarers knots.”
Ryley looked down. “I know.” He said evenly. “I’m a Doctor not a seafarer duh. I’m combing practicing old school techniques with an old school hobby. Kills the time.”
“As for what I want, I want no more than a clean workspace and a patient.”

Again Ryley leaned back in his chair and considered the man. “You are aware that your tone and commentary verge on insubordination right kid?”
Ryley
M.D.
“Your Right, it is on the verge of insubordination however I judge a man for his reactions with the people around him and his medical prowess than first impressions alone. Now as far as first impressions go… This one the jury is still out. However improving.”
Linkin looked around sick bay. “Now which station will be mine?” He asked.
