Abruptly the door flew open and in bounced a kid about ten or twelve. “Hey Ms. Kelly,” she waved approaching the desk with a spring in her step. Seeing another person in the room the kid stopped. Hooking a thumb at the door she looked at Kelly and the woman a little surprised. “It was unlocked…that is why I didn’t knock.”

“You should always knock but it’s fine. Revna this is Maybelle. Maybelle this is our new counselor,” Kelly introduced the pair.

As Kelly said her name, Revna spoke in unison with her, “Maybelle Spunkler.” Oh my…the description Nash gave her of this young girl was NOTHING compared to the real thing. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Maybelle.”

Maybelle looked the other officer up and down as if searching for something on her person. “Hi,” Maybelle flopped into the open chair next to Revna. “Do you like the ship? The old one was cool but this one is so much nicer.” Maybelle had an ease in the captain’s office that most officers rarely found.

Revna gave the captain a curious, but humored look at turned back to Maybelle and gave her the same once over Maybelle had just given her. “I do like this ship. It’s huge with lots of areas to explore. And so many interesting people on it as well.”

“I agree” she spoke in not quite a kid, not quite an adult tone. “I find the senior staff is the most interesting. Oh by the way, Miss Kelly, I just came from Mr. Drayke’s office. He says he is not accepting delivery of the IFEA Infinity Maximum Pleasure and Funzone you ordered nor is he etching that in the bulkhead above the door.”

Revna hid a smirk. Leave it to a man to make something as innocent as a child’s playground into something inappropriate. Her grin conveyed the thought to Kelly. But of course she was sure that there was something more going on here. She’d heard stories about young Miss Maybelle. “Do you know a lot of the senior staff Maybelle? They are certainly an interesting bunch. I of course am lucky enough to not be senior staff. That means I get to have more fun.” Of course Renva didn’t see a difference between any of them. She had a rare talent of being able to integrate into any of the brass and rank among the ship. It was one reason she’d had such a heavy case load on Centurian. Rank didn’t mean much to her when talking about people and helping them, and everyone knew that and believed it, when it came to her anyway.

Kelly looked at Revna and then Maybelle with her eyes a bit wider. If the Star Fleet purchasing department ever looked at her requisition close enough there could be an inquiry. She had a good answer but still…there would be an inquiry.

There was a page on the comms as if on demand Jacen’s voice came through =/\= Captain=/\=

Kelly cringed slightly as her hand went to the comm badge. =/\=Commander=/\= she replied back. Him calling her over a comm the second Maybelle walked in was never good.

=/\=… Kelly… do you have a small pint size kid complaining to you about how I am doing my job? Cause I turned around to tell her to stay put and then suddenly as if by magic she was gone.=/\= Jacen said with a gruff tone as he was getting a little annoyed but trying to be polite.

Much like when your parents used your middle name indicating you were in trouble, when Jacen used Kelly’s name instead of rank, he was on about something as her grandmother used to say. =/\=She is right here along with the counselor. Maybe I can come down to engineering. Give me five.=/\=

Taking a deep breath she turned her attention back to the people in her office after turning off her comm badge.

“Well, he might be right on the name over the door. Maybe you could come up with a few better ideas at our next Parks and Rec Meeting?”

“I agree completely. I told Mr. Mardusk the name and he choked on his coffee laughing so hard. “I am not sure why he is finding it funny and Mr. Drayke seemed like it was a name I should cover my ears when it is said but…meh,” she shrugged. Maybelle had no idea why this was such a huge deal to the adults. For her it was simple. Order it. Put it together, and then go to town on it having fun.

Okay it caught Mardusk off guard? Maybe her first assessment of the name was wrong, “What exactly are you two planning to call it?” In the mean time her hand was tapping, apparently absently, on her PaDD. To: Lt Cmdr Nash. You did NOT warn me sufficiently enough for the young Miss Maybelle Spunkler. Lt. Edman

“Revna maybe we can meet up later for dinner some time. Maybelle....be nice to her,” Kelly pointed a finger playfully at the kid as she stood up walking to the door. “She is an amazing counselor and we can’t afford to lose another one. People will start to think things and give us a reputation.”

“It would be my pleasure Cpt. How about tomorrow? My sister has plans then and I would hate to scare you off with two of us.” Revna grinned. And Runa was a bit of a mother hen at the moment and Revna would like to have an evening of not being coddled by her ‘baby’ sister. Runa was younger, but less than a minute, but Revna never ceased to hold that card in reserve when necessary.

Maybelle looked at Revna as Kelly left the office. “Only one counselor left but I am not sure it was because of me,” she said innocently. “They said she had a nervous breakdown but everytime I met with her she just seemed overly excited.”

Revna raised a brow at the young lady. Oh yes, Nash failed to warn her of quite a bit about this young girl. “Well Miss Spunkler I am starving. Would you care to join me?” Revna stood up to follow Kelly out of the office. She certainly was not leaving this precocious girl alone in the captain’s ready room. If Maybelle didn’t want to go then she’d get a security detail for her. Or maybe she needed it for herself as protection?
