It had been a rather long night, and Revna wasn’t too happy with herself. She knew the signs, she knew how trauma affected a person, and she was angry because she hadn’t dealt with it. She’d let it go in the weeks of her transfer. But right now she had a job to do. She’d sent Lera the invite to come by her office. She’d moved the furniture and she had large lounge pillows covering her office floor and a large screen set up to display the movie. She’d blocked out 3 and half hours for this. She wanted to make sure they had time. Mardusk meant well, as he had gently prodded Lera into making an appointment. She’d considered reading Lera’s file, but this time, she felt it would be better to let Lera tell her what was going on. And she had her favorite movie set to play. Nothing inspired confidences like a good movie, popcorn, and girl talk. Now she just had to wait for Lera to arrive.
Lt. Edman, Counselor

Lera was nervous. The last thing she wanted was to see the Counselor and bare her soul. But the nightmares had resurfaced and she knew Mar was concerned. So for him, she’d go do girl’s night with Revna. With any luck, Revna already knew everything and asked just nod, say yes it still bothered her and the Counselor would give her some sleeping pills and she’d be fine.

Wearing comfortable slacks in a deep blue and a loose fitting tunic top of a lighter shade, she tapped the chime on Renva’s door at the appointed hour. Her soft brown ankle boots shifting awkwardly on the hallway carpet.

At the chime Revna got up and walked to the door and opened it. “Lera! Come in, hurry up.” She whispered conspiratorially. Her office, usually scattered with a strange assortment of chairs, floor pillows, lounges, couches, and any number of places to sit, was mostly empty. They were all pushed up against the far wall. One was an overly large and sturdy couch that she had ordered. She pointed at it and laughed, “You can guess why I need that giant thing.” The room has a mix of landscape and abstract art on the wall, Upon entering the office it was very subdued. The harsh grays and blues that came standard were replaced by earth tones of browns, bronzes, greens, yellows, oranges, and deep reds. There didn’t appear to be a desk anywhere. The shelves were filled with pieces of art and memorabilia that honored her heritage. The shelves also included an array of different objects, from singing bowls, to art supplies, to mandalas. There was also a computer interface to allow patients to choose the background noise of their choice.

In the middle of floor was a huge pile of pillows and fuzzy blankets haphazardly dropped onto two large floor lounge mattresses. Revna walked over to the replicator and brought back two large bowls of popcorn. “What would you like to drink, Lera?” Revna moved back to replicator to get the drinks waiting for Lera’s request.

She brought back the drinks and sat down in the middle of the pile on the floor and settled with a weary sigh. “I had a difficult night. I thought it might be nice to relax. Have you ever watched an old Earth movie titled The Princess Bride? It’s is light hearted, full of action, and a total chic flick.” Revna moved a couple pillows around and leaned back. Lera could tell that Revna wanted to laugh but had settled for a mischievous smile instead.
