Jessica watched the CSO as he departed with a sigh. She was hoping to piece together what had caused the injury itself, but the information was useful all the same and went about to set the scans as she also enquired with the computer on what had happened around Kurok at the time of his injury.

“Ceres” flicked a few commands on a nearby console, “Poor guy got blasted with an exploding conduit, shocking”. He grimaced, “Sorry, that wasn’t as funny as I thought it was going to be, inappropriate even, I apologize”.

Jessica offered a small, wry smile to “Ceres.” “That’s sort of my kind of humor,” she remarked. “Judge me how you will.” She turned back to Kurok to try to fill him in on the missing pieces of at least what had happened to him to get him in this state.

Kurok listened attentively but his face was a studied blank. “I have absolutely no memory of anything, it all feels like smoke. Somehow I know instinctively that what you are telling me is correct but I cannot summon anything into my conscious mind, it is like there is a connection missing somewhere.”

Finding herself locked into doctor mode, Jessica offered the ensign an empathetic smile. “I think that we just need to give it some time at this point, Ensign. You’ll rest here for the immediate future so that I can keep an eye on you and make sure that you suffer no further neurological set-backs. Can I get you something to eat?”

OOC I always set things up so you can if you want to but you don’t have to. There will always be secrets under the surface is you turn over the rock… haha :-)

Benjamin, now finished with servicing the newborn, moved over to the Vulcan’s side. He examined the biobed’s computer in quiet, Kurok was now Lemann’s patient, and in his mind, that was a fact to be respected. He tapped the screen a few times as he examined the man’s neurological scans, it seemed odd that he couldn’t access his memories, most likely they would have to send him to a specialist back in Federation space.

Kurok’s scan showed normal brain function, there was a slight irregularity in his prefrontal cortex but that by itself shouldn’t have affected his memory retrieval.

Jessica wasn’t subtle about nudging Grey out of the way so that she could see the results on the monitor. She pointed to the irregularity in the prefrontal cortex and gave him a questioning look. “Neurology isn’t my specialty, but that seems odd and it shouldn’t have anything to do with his memory. Is that something typical in Vulcans?”

“There’s a number of factors that could be involved, I can suggest a Neural imaging scan for further detail, also keeping him here for further study with a neurocortical monitor. The Vulcan brain is a powerful thing and can reorganize its own neural pathways.” He said calmly “But you’re right, these abnormalities shouldn’t affect his memory” He didn’t comment on her pushing him out of the way, at least not now.

“I figured observation for a while was appropriate anyway. It’s something I prefer when there has been any kind of neural injury,” Jessica commented in agreement. “Time can be a miraculous treatment and hopefully it will be in this case too.” She glanced over at the Vulcan for a moment before returning her focus to the CMO, shifting her body slightly to allow him access to the console again with a more characteristic impish grin.

Ben gave the woman a slight smile, now was not the time to show his staff how tired he really felt “Just be careful with Vulcan brains, they’re a sight more advanced than ours and have somewhat of an independent streak, rewiring and reworking themselves, sometimes to the detriment of the patient. Just keep a close eye on your patient and all will be well” He finished his sentence with a half-smile.
