S’Raal finally pulled his eyes away and had a hard look at his wife’s vitals. Turning to the doctors he wiped his eyes, “I never got the chance to thank you for everything. It feels like a lifetime ago now”.

Jessica forced a smile through the tears coursing down her cheeks, mimicking S’Raal’s action to wipe her eyes, albeit slightly uselessly since her green eyes were still brimming and then overflowing. “You’re welcome,” she responded, simply, and then reached out to gently stroke the newborn’s arm. He was right; it did seem like it had been a lifetime ago.

Ben smiled, albeit tensely, inclined his head and cleared his throat “No thanks necessary, Doctor, really.” he involuntarily took a half step back “Doctor Lemann why don’t you” His voice trailed of as he saw her emotional state “Why don’t you go rest, you’ve been running at a hundred-and-ten for hours, go to your quarters and have a Sonic and a nap” He gave her a more relaxed smile “Doctor Moonshadow, T’Pon, I’d just like to give her a little scan if you don’t mind”

S’Raal stepped back out of the way and T’Pon nodded her quiet assent. “Please,” she said and the concern of a mother shone forth.

Ben pursed his lips in a slight smile and took a few ginger steps forward. He raised his scanner and removed the wand, a procedure so natural to him he was certain that he sometimes did so in his sleep. “It’s only a precaution. I’ll have someone move the bassinet next to yer bed as I’d like to keep you under close observation” He looked to Doctor Moonshadow “I’ll also have a chair prepared for you” He said calmly.

Jessica shook her head stubbornly at her superior, but she did back away so that he could scan the infant. She remained nearby, within easy range of her patients.

T’Pon looked at the wand he was holding with something approaching apprehension. Her face spoke volumes of her concern for the newborn who had been through so much.

Jessica offered T’Pon a reassuring smile and reached out to squeeze her shoulder gently. “Let’s just make sure that she’s in as good health as she appears,” she murmured to the concerned Vulcan, not wanting her to become agitated in the state that she’d been for much of the… adventure.
