It didn’t take Viyara long to pack up all her belongings. She’d always preferred to travel lightly. Much easier to change locations that way. With one crate, a travel bag and a satchel sitting in the middle of her quarters, she went once more through every drawer to make sure she really hadn’t forgotten anything. In her nightstand drawer she found indeed something hiding at the very back: a small, flat stone. It was mostly unremarkable grey colour, but at a closer look small purple markings were visible. Picking the smooth stone up, she looked at it for a moment with a pensive expression before slipping it into the pocket of her slacks.

Letting her gaze wander through the room one last time and picking up her satchel, Viyara tapped her com badge and said, =/\= Nazeen to Transporter Room 1. My things are ready to be beamed onto the transport vessel. =/\=

=/\= Acknowledged Ensign, =/\= came the prompt reply. =/\= Shall I beam you over at the same time? =/\=

=/\= No, I have one last thing to do, =/\= Viyara replied and turned around. As she reached the door, she heard the familiar sound of the transporter as her belongings were beamed away.

Without a backwards glance, she left her quarters for the last time. She wasn’t sad to leave this ship. Sure it had been a good time and she’d gotten along well with most of the crew. Yet she was getting restless again and a few people were getting too close. So she had ceased the opportunity for a transfer without giving it a second thought.

But before she left there was one place she wanted to go to one last time. Thus she found herself crawling through one of the many jefferies tubes till she arrived at “her” spot, where gravity was a little below normal and where the humming of the warp core sounded like music to her. While she knew that she didn’t have much time till she had to be in the transporter room, Viyara sat down and let herself just be for a few minutes.

When she eventually arrived in the transporter room she was both relieved and if she was quite honest with herself also a little bit sad, that no one was there but the technician. Stepping onto the transporter pad without any words of farewell, she merely said, “Energize.” A moment later she felt the tingling sensation of the transporter beam as she was dematerialized and then dematerialized on the transport vessel that would take her to Starbase 157.

The pilot turned to her as she arrived green eyes flashing in mischief. “Welcome aboard the Jolly Roger,” he said with a freckled grin, “Actually it’s the Samoset but I fancy myself a bit of a pirate so I take artistic license”.

OOC: Can you read minds, Ian? I just watched the Doctor Who episode aboard a pirate ship. Your post made me laugh out loud. Thank you!

OOC Good to have you back :-) Can I read minds… let’s leave that one hanging haha

IC:
“I like Jolly Rogers,” Viyara replied with a coquettish smile. Moving a few steps so she could lean against the wall with her right should, arms crossed in front of her chest, she continued, “So what are you stealing, Captain?” As she asked that, she let her heterochromatic eyes wander over him, sizing him up.

“You heart hopefully.” The man said with an irrepressible grin, “but failing that, I’d like to steal some of your time and have a wonderful conversation that will keep my memories alive with wonder for years to come,” He punched a control taking them out and then winked, “If you’re going to slap me for my presumption, aim for my left eye please, all pirates have their left eye covered”.

“I’m not usually in the habit of slapping people, but should I feel the need, I’ll keep it in mind,” Viyara replied with an impish grin. “As for stealing my time, that shouldn’t be too difficult.” That said, she pushed herself off the wall and walked over to the seat closest to the pilot. Letting her hand trail over the back of of his seat, she added, “Yet I don’t even know your name.” Sitting down on the chair, she crossed her long legs at the knee and looked at him with her left eyebrow raised, that impish grin still on her face.

“How about you give me a good Pirate name,” he replied urbanely with a smile, “Paul Cavendish is literally too PC, so how about as our first joint venture together, you give me my pirate name?”.

“Hmm.” For a couple of moments Viyara looked at Paul intently. Her coquettish smile replaced by a look of concentration. Her head tilted to the right so that a strand of her dark purple hair, that had come lose from her somewhat messy hairdo, fell partially into her face. “How about Captain Paul “The Kraken” of Cavendish?” she asked, brushing the strand of hair out of her face with her left thumb. She had toyed with a completely new, random name and even with one of the names of real pirates she knew. But in the end playing around with his real name had felt right.

He snapped his fingers with a short bark of a laugh, “That’s great, Kraken Cavendish, Captain of the Jolly Roger, the scourge of at least half a parsec. Thank-e ma lady” he said breaking into a pirates brogue, “Now how’s about ye be telling me something about yr’self to while away the journey?”

“Me?” Viyara asked rhetorically, leaning forward conspiratorially. “I’m a restless soul roaming the seven seas looking for adventures and unknown places,” she continued theatrically. While she aimed for being humorous, it wasn’t a lie. Unzipping her uniform jacket, she continued in a slightly softer voice, “And some say I’m dangerous.” She gave him a small wink and then leaned back in her chair again.

His grin was infectious, “I love danger, tell me more”.

And impish grin tugged at the corners of her mouth as she mustered Paul for a couple of moments. Mischievousness was written all over her face. There were many things she could tell. So for a few moments she contemplated what to say and in the end went for the something everyone could find out who had access to her Starfleet record. “Well, I blew up a science lab,” she replied with a shrug, as if it was no big deal or an every day occurrence.

His eyes went wide, “Get out of here, that’s awesome, tell me how you did it and I’ll make you first mate on the Jolly Roger”.
