In the blink of an eye, everything disappeared from Janna and Stark’s sight. The dark became bright, the loud became quiet, and a sense of peace could now be felt in the air. No animosity, no fighting, no trouble.

The pair would find themselves on the ground, green grass everywhere. The sky was filled with passing cumulus clouds being pushed by a soft breeze. A rather large cottage stood nearby with ornately placed plants of varying degrees encompassing the lot. A loose dirt path led to the front door and some light clambering could be heard within. Young voices were also heard emanating from behind the structure.

Stark started slightly, “It’s quiet… too quiet”. Then he heard the voices, “That’s better” he frowned, “I think”.

Janna sat there, shivering. It wasn’t cold, in fact it was incredibly pleasant. Lifting a hand and turning her wrist, Kingston could acknowledge that she was shaking. Normally, she’d vocalize whatever was going through her head, the last while had been all about survival and trying to figure out what that could even look like that she had lost the ability to think rationally. If she were able to step outside of herself and counsel herself, she’d be able to help her see that the constant stress and promise of death didn’t end just because their setting had. Her mind had no proof yet that there were actually safe. Before, things had been an illusion and as far as she knew, she was still stuck in that illusion. For all she knew, Stark and Orvos were illusions too. Wherever they were, that she knew was not real either. So what was?
